RAF was the cornerstone of the Omaha hardcore scene when I was coming up in the 80s. This breaks my heart. I lost my sister to suicide. The shock and grief never completely subsides. I know this is personal for you, and I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Unfortunately the most you can do when someone you care about is contemplating suicide is to offer an ear or shoulder to dry cry on, hopefully talking to them can offer some help. I agree when someone becomes silent and distant its a time to be more concerned.
Hey Dereck, The C word has become so common in our lives, it strikes so much fear in us, and we all seem to know someone it has affected if not ourselves. It now seems the S word is becoming way too common. It affects all of us in such a terrible way when we lose someone this way. Very, Very sorry to hear this news. So sad. Take care Dereck

Losing someone is a dagger. Especially to the horrors of deep-seeded depression. I pray for the peace of mind that every human being deserves. So sorry, man.
Whoa! the sound waves cd graphic is great and it's also on that legendary t shirt. Both are a rare find. I'm so grateful to have both. They are a shrine now. Very sad to hear of this.

It deeply saddens me to hear about Kelley. I'm sorry, Dereck 😞 I didn't know him on a personal level, but I LOVED watching him perform with RAF. His energy was unmatched and I could really feel his love for music. I agree with what you said - others can try to help as much as they can, but at the end of the day, we are the ones who have to take steps to heal ourselves, or we continue to run from whatever ails us.
