Met Kane in the mid-90's when I was in high school. He was appearing at a haunted hayride I was working at. The dude was awesome, he did pictures, autographs, the whole thing. Beast of a man who looks like he has seen a lot of pain in his profession.
Part 7’s design was absolutely brilliant, Adding all of the damage Jason sustained over the years from his different rivals/victims was a good move. Loved how gnarly and worn out Jason looked in this film
Shame he never looked like that in Freddy vs. Jason. But nah, I guess making him look like Frankenstein in hobo clothes would look _"cooler"_ to the director. 😞
@@brandonspain12345 The directors of 8, & FVJ failed miserably at his looks, they should’ve continued with different variations of the Gnarly 6-7 look, hell, they could’ve even kept the gnarly look, just with a new set of clothes
Rest in piece John Carl Buechler, who passed away yesterday you delivered and directed one of the greatest Friday The 13th films ever part 7 The New Blood And introduce us to and got Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees you shell not be forgotten.
Kane was so so amazing to meet. I started crying with nostalgia of my antihero came walking towards me and gave me to biggest hug. Then Dee Wallace says "Kane! What did you do to this poor girl!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Dee was just the sweetest lady
@Jordan Elza for me part three was the scariest not because of how he looks but because of how he acts. Like the dream sequence and the noise scene when he’s unmasked he has that creepy smile on him. Plus he plays with his pray
I met Kane this year at Spooky Empire in Orlando. I told him that the first time he played jason was in my hometown of Bay Minette AL. He was shocked bc no one he's ever met knows where that is. He is such a nice and remarkable man. So sweet and funny, loves his fans. And yes it does get very cold there in December thru early February. Now it's called Byrnes Lakes btw for those who's wondering now lol
The series Should've ended at #4. It didn't. It then Should've ended at #6. It didn't. The Kodder movies are the worst of the series. Put down the invisible luggage Kane and stop breathing so heavy. The best "Jason(s)" are part 4, 3, then 6. Close thread /
@@travzimmerman1340 yeah i didnt like this movie...least favorite and the first Friday the 13th to is my least favorite..Jason goes 2 hell was horrible i thought also..
"I convinced the director that it would be more realistic if I was in the house when it blew up. It was okay, though, because I was wearing the hockey mask."
@@Floydthefuckbag I don't think Jason was thinking about looks when getting ready to kill people, just saying. The look gives him a more laid back kinda look, sorta casual, and the tool belt is where he stores more weapons, so y'know
Kane Hodder really brought a lot to the table for his time as Jason, not just in terms of stunt work, but also the character. His intensity (as well as Ted Whites) is still unmatched to this day.
Number 7 is definitely my favorite f 13 film, and Kane Hodder was the best Jason by far. And 8:04 shows that Kane is very dedicated to his work, and isn’t afraid to take risks.
Part 7 is still one of my favorite films of the series. I like how he talked about why he chose the design of Jason for this film. It ended up being the best looking and scariest Jason we’ve ever had. Even now.
Part 3 jason was the scariest in my opinion coz he was huge tall, big hands, and he ran. that scene at te end still scares the shit out of me when hes looking through the window
+OZGUN ST-PIERRE Agree part 3 Richard Brooker I believe was the best, and biggest, fastest, meanest Jason... Kane is too short, his victims are often taller, or as tall..
As execrable as any other installment to come out after Part 6, but I have to say, this is the best-looking _zombie_ Jason of the series. I love the shot of him in the beginning, slowly rising from the water and making his way to land.
Part 7 sustained at the the theaters better than Part 5 and Part 6 (which weren't consistently dark enough for audience tastes). Part 7 got the tone right and didn't yank Jason out of the woods (unlike Part 8-10).
I kinda get sick of people saying that Kane was too small. He's only too small if you expect Jason to be a friggin basketball player. The guy is still about 6'2" and super muscular. Does anyone think that the Gigantic Jasons in FVJ or the reboot were more scary than Kane's version? Nope. Those guys were goofy as hell. Kane was scary just in the way he moved. I had no problem believing he could kill people..... BTW 7 was the best concept and costume by far. It got bad after this one.
Are you kidding? Derek Mears was easily more menacing than Hodder. I know it's an unpopular opinion, and Hodder is GOOD, don't think I'm saying he isn't, but comparing and saying nobody thinks otherwise is just wrong. I do appreciate Hodder more than anything for making so many great horror movies what they are with his stunt work. But if you're going to compare, Mears wins.
This was my favorite one for years. I had no idea it failed. I seen it myself 3 times in the theater a lone. I have since fallen in love with older installments, but the music/score for this one is unbelievable.
I confess that I've been always changing my F13 favorite chapter, because I practically love them all. For a long time, chapter 7 was my absolute favorite among them. However, parts 2, 4 and 6 have some particularities that I do like a lot - maybe it's their 100% camp atmosphere, I don't know. F13 will always be a special and symbolic franchise to me.
Although part 1 and 5 have the most possible senerios , this was my favorite of the series. I liked Kane very much and Tina was my favorite character in the entire series. Now in her 50 Lar still looks pretty damn good
I think the unmasking in part IV was the best. Jason still looked human, but scary and fucked up. He looked too unreal here, almost comical. And the grunts he made in VII were just dumb.
The first 3 are the best , it's a good thing Tom Savini came along to save part 4 and the Director's cut of Jason Goes to Hell makes that version a little better
Scariest looks of Jason after part 1 are parts 2 (masked!), 4, 7 (both masked and unmasked!), Jason X (before Uber Jason upgrade!) and F13 2009 (child, grown up, masked and unmasked)!!!
My only problem is instead of giving him a monster face I kinda which they would have just gave him a normal deformed face with a zombie like appearance to it. Still I agree he did look badass in this movie.
Dear director: you did a fantastic piece of work Dear kane hodder: you will always be the man Dear jenna jameson: great work playing tina Dear bernie: horrible weekend (lol)
Best sequel in the series by far. If you are a fan, you are still wondering where Tina went. I hope an answer comes soon. Best character in the entire series.
Part 8/9 should've had Tina, Tommy, and Ginny teaming up to defeat Jason. Jason's biggest adversaries using their various skills to finish him for good. Would've been a much more satisfying end to the original run of the series.
Tina and Tommy showed up in the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash comic which was a follow-up to Freddy Vs. Jason bringing in the Evil Dead universe which was already tied into Jason Goes to Hell as the necronomicon was found in the Voorhees house likely used by Pamela to resurrect Jason.
Recently rewatched “New Blood,” and while I hate the fact that its death scenes are hacked to hell, it’s actually the second best of the Kane Hodder Friday films, the best being of course “Jason X.”
Kane Hodder looks like he could mess someone up. He was at a Friday the 13th movie(s) showing a couple years ago, I missed it. Hopefully they do it again and he comes back.
This is a stupid thing to have bug me, but I hated that they had Jason missing his left eye in this one when the previous entries had him missing his right eye. It's so nitpicky and yet it bugged me to no end. I mean, it looks GREAT, don't get me wrong. It's just... it's the wrong eye.
I was just thinking why don't the makers of Friday the 13th make a movie about Jason and how he became the monster he became and also explain the relationship mrs Voorhees had with Jason.
true. it was just a thought, theres a newer version of halloween and it showed the character michael myers as a boy starting out to be the monster he became
I agree with your rankings to a degree. However, part 5 ranks up there for me. Before you judge, watch it again. It was true slasher film history. The ONLY thing that hurt that film was that it ended up not being the real Jason. Had they used the real Jason, it would have been a fan favorite by all means. Highest body count, real characters, multiple stories, and the FIRST 'more powerful than man' Jason. Check it out again.
Kane Hodder was the best Jason ever..and I loved the look they gave him for part 7. as the director showing all the damage Jason had from past movies. the Spine showing was awsome.
You can say a lot of things about the first eight movies, but one thing I loved was that each film picked up where the last left off and the continuity was incredible. To that end, seeing Jason in the seventh film properly showcasing all of the damage he suffered prior to it was so cool because of the history. It’s like a nod to each of the movies.
Not so much.. IMO Gloria Charles {RIP} and Diane Almeida were the two best looking women in the entire franchise . Out of the final Girls - Dana Kimmell and Jensen Daggett were the best looking.
2, 4, and 7...not a bad list at all. What i always say about 7, nothing makes me laugh the way Tina's Dr offered up her mother to Jason so he could "TRY" and scamper away. Helluva Doctor 😉
@@gamleskalle1 In the end, 1 through 7 are all very good. Weakest maybe being #5 but that one had TONS of 1980's feel all over it. Top of that I read coke was being used by lotta actors/film crew throughout the shoot/as said, 80's feel throughout the whole thing.
i don't understand why u don't like kane hodder i thought he played Jason very well in this movie, and if u look at it he was a stuntman. take a look in the credits sometime he did his own stunts in this movie that takes on heck of an actor to do that, and i was impressed by his performance. Also he is right Ted was asked back for 5, and 6 but he turned it down.
reason why i dont like Kane's version of Jason at the bottom i know it is not his fault and is the directors fault for giving shitty directions .. but i dont like his version the most other than Roy who wasnt Jason Jason was never alive after drowning as a child.. he was brought back as a Draugur by Mrs. Voorhees and in fact you can even see how this was done in Jason goes to Hell. In the Voorhees house you can see the Necronomicon ex Mortis on the table during the shaving scene .. i suggest you read the lure about Draugurs ... Mrs. Voorhees used the Necronomicon ex Mortis to revive dead child Jason ... here are some points backing up this claim ... 1. they can change size (child Jason, hulking Jason, worm Jason) 2. cats usually are around Draugurs (in several Friday the 13th films cats are seen during kill scenes ) 3. carry the stench of decay on them (i am sure Jason stinks like a dick that hasn't been washed for a month) 4. protects a treasure (to a mentally handicapped child who was bullied and has no concept of gold or money the greatest treasure would be mother, Jason keeps mothers head with a shrine in his makeshift cabin) 5. Draugurs are usually mean greedy people in life .. or are usually people who were tormented and bullied (Jason doesn't fit the first but sure fits the latter) 6. Draugurs know what they are and like what they do.. its a zombie with consciousness and a sadistic streak 7. Draugurs often mentally torment victims (seen several times with Tommy Jarvis) 8.they can teleport, 9. they know they can not be killed 10. are driven by obsessive willpower... all of these points above show that without a doubt that Jason Voorhees is in fact a Draugur ... and was never alive after his drowning why has no one ever tried taking to Jason? be all like "Jason I'm sorry that happened to you and your mother" I mean it's been established that he understands what people are saying several times in several movies people have used verbal manipulation on him but instead of tricking making him think they are mother Voorhees , why not try being like " it's ok those responsible are dead, Jason, it's over, I'm sorry mother is gone, let's give her a proper burial" ... maybe the reason why Jason continues to kill is that everyone continues to treat him as an outcast, and all that anger pent up from his tormenting as a child is what keeps him going. this is why I don't like Kane Hodder's portrayal of Jason, he's just a mindless killer. nothing psychological behind it. remember Friday the 13th was originally a psychological horror movie of a mother's revenge, then it was about Jason's revenge.. then it became just some bullshit of super powered killing machine... I like the idea that Jason is a Draugur, as mentioned in my above, but a Draugur is capable of thought and isn't just a mindless killer... Jason has displayed numerous times that he can think... why not got back to its roots and explore the psychological aspect of Jason... and there you have it gotta love being a horror hound and an expert in ancient mythologies
It would be good to see him do one more film as Jason. In Freddy vs Jason, they really made Jason a pussy. I did like Derek in the reboot. He was an intimidating Jason, like Ted White was.
The New Blood was originally supposed to be Freddy vs. Jason but it didn’t happened because things didn’t work out between Paramount and New Line Cinema until few years later New Line bought the rights of the Friday the 13th franchises
@@jurassic_zilla_01 yea that's what I was saying but I hope they make another one one day or a horror universe crossover like dc n marvel because they was fina do that with freddy vs. Jason n ash from evil dead n plus with Chucky n leatherface n other but they couldn't do it at the time but maybe they can do it now 😎😎😎😎
