Love that you made adjustments to makes things wearable for you. ❤ Sorry that you were sad about your daughter leaving home. But you do get to visit wherever she goes, so win win👍🏼😊
Allison, you are such a lovely person! I am sure your daughter will miss you as much . Thank goodness we live in a world that has Skype, or FaceTime so you can still see and talk to each other any day you choose. That is a pretty lilac dress and it fits you well. I do love the sleeves. How exciting setting up a new larger sewing room! When I moved I made sure I had a whole bedroom to set up my sewing in. It is a luxury to have all the space just for myself. That cornflower blue viscose is to die for! Can’t wait to see what you make with it.. (keep busy, time passes.)
I just has to comment tonight Alison, love watching your vlogs you are so up beat and encouraging ☺ both my children left home within 9 months of each other it is one of the hardest things I have had to deal with but I read something that said while our children live at home we are like a Dr or nurse to them there for every little thing but when they leave we then become a consultant they don’t need us for every little thing but we are needed as mum for the bigger things in their lives this really did help me see that I was still mum and they will always be my babies and I am always available for when they need a consultant in life xx sending my love to you xx
You are so right what you say. I arrived to you last night and I can just see already she is so relaxed. I know that she’ll get a job very soon but this is obviously what she wants to do and where she wants to be that it’s 100% the right thing. X
Aww Alison, I welled up with you there 🫶🏻 I’m looking forward to seeing you in your new sewing room 👌 I’m so pleased to know someone else who loves the Judy Dress as much as I do. And that lilac looks sooo good on you! The Judy sleeves are my favourites, I just love them and I love the shaped front bodice where it meets the gathered skirt. I have made both mine with the usable button placket but it isn’t necessary as it’s an easy pull over your head fit so I might use you little hack on my next one.
Love your new dress it looks fantastic. Also looking forward to seeing your new sewing room. Enjoy France. I think you’ve said before that your daughter has moved to Antibes. It’s a lovely place with plenty of places to visit if you hop on the train. My sister in law used to live there (but has now moved).
Love your new Judy, the fabric really suits you. Good idea to get busy now your daughter has moved away. My son has been living with us for 18 months after returning from Australia but he will be moving to the states in July so we will miss him when he goes. You have to focus on the lovely holidays you will have when you visit your daughter in the South of France and the outfits you can make for your trip. I’ll be doing the same!
Oh Alison, I feel your pain re your daughter. My son travelled the world and finally settled locally 3 years ago which was lovely. Sadly, he has emigrated (again) and taken baby grandson with him. I have to be happy for him but have cried all winter long. Only sewing and Slimming World has kept me going. You make me smile though- 😂😂 - the light up jacket 😂😂. Your new Judy dress is 😍😍😍😍. Good Luck moving rooms - it will be worth it. Happy sewing. Lynne 😊
Lovely makes and this Judy dress is amazing 😍❤ really like how you've adjusted the bodice and if I do make it I will do the same thing thank you! It's so funny how I literally just uploaded my fabric haul video today and was wondering whether someone had hacked this dress for the bodice to fit better 😅 guess my prayer is now answered lol xx thank you!!
Your hairs looking so sleek Alison !!. Your just going to need time , throw yourself into sorting rooms and then before you know it you’ll be going away xx
So glad I tuned in this morning, lovely vlog. The lilac fabric is so beautiful on you .I've just purchased some. Bargain price too . Sending you a big hug as you looked upset about your daughter. Have a lovely weekend sewing.xx
Feel for you, my daughter moved nearly 600 miles away and miss her all the time but sewing is definitely a brilliant distraction. The dress looks fab and great advice on tweaking - off to amend one of my Billies now as I haven’t liked the ribbing on the cuffs with my fabric choice so will just remake with the same fabric 😊
Love the dress ,your my colouring and my type of hair 82 yr old and my hairdresser said PLEASE don’t use a straightener ,it’s death for the hair ,so the dryer is great for the hair without so much damage ,so ever mind the fashion stick with the drier it looks lovely 🥰 enjoy your holiday xxx
That was a lovely vlog Alison, your dress is gorgeous and you really suit the colour. Can’t wait to see your new sewing room. I could feel your sadness about your daughter it must be very difficult. ❤❤
Hi Alison, I’m just finishing a Flavia jacket, love it & fairly quick make. Will definitely be making another. I have been pondering pockets, the fabric is on the heavier side, so might try something in a lighter contrast fabric, but love the idea of sewing into the seams (& lighting them up 😄!)
