I only follow one flosstuber at the moment, Niks Days. She occasionally sews too but lately has been sharing crosstitch more. She's a special-ed teacher with 5 kids so I think the crosstitch is more therapeutic for her.

Yay thanks for mentioning Stash Hub! Excited to see how you get on with using it this year. For the patterns you could add a few as you're making them so you'll still be able to enter your projects.

Tamlyn, it was so good to see you again. Glad you had a break and some time to rest. My son and his family gave me the "Sew on the Go" book as well. I'm looking forward to reading it. I love to do cross stitch. I'll check out the cross stitch shops you recommended. Your project bag from Adam is gorgeous! I don't know why I've never thought of putting my projects in a bag like that. I like to take my projects along on trips but I've just been throwing them in a tote bag with no closure. Adam's style of large project bag is perfect! X

I love to cross stitch too! There are many floss tube vlogs to watch. I watch the stitch bunny. She is from the UK and also has a shop selling cross stitch haberdashery.

My sewing goal for 2024 is to only use fabric from my stash. A pat on the back for Sam, he nailed it with your Christmas gifts. Maybe you could show us different ways to use the bias binding. I'm going to suggest that traveling sewing book to my kids for a birthday present for me. I've never listened to a podcast before, so thanks for suggesting two. As I'm sewing today, I will listen to my first one.

I have bought a cross-stitch from Bothy Threads. They have designs that are like a cut thru' (thats what you search for on their website) designs of houses, space ship, lighthouse, magic school, castles etc. They are really pretty and I have made the magic school for my daughter ❤ they are a big design so it takes a while to make them but they are really lovely!

I also generally live in jeans and tops so decided that I want to wear more dresses. It will be interesting to see which patterns are suggested as I prefer to have waist definition too, baggy dresses make me look like I’m wearing a sack 😂.

Lovely catch up video! I love cross-stitch and always have one on the go for doing in the evenings. The Historical Sampler Co do some really lovely cross-stitch kits. They also do Stitch-a-longs when they release a part of a pattern every two weeks (4 parts) which you can join in with and you can buy full kits, just the pattern and even gift boxes (with the full kit and other goodies) to do so. Their sister company, Cotton and Twine, do a monthly subscription box with everything you need to complete a cross-stitch project.

With stash hub, I’ve not put all my patterns on, just the patterns that I know I will make. There are a lot of patterns I’ve bought or made in the past, but won’t make again. Good luck with it all

What lovely gifts from Sam! I’m trying to use my stash fabric as much as I can and not buy any fabric until my birthday in April, 😬 not sure how that one will work out but I’m giving it a go😂. I started cross stitch as a teenager, and recently went back to it just before Christmas, I love how calming it is. Thank you for sharing the companies you have found I’ll definitely have a look at those 😊

Hi, I’ve been watching you for a while and enjoy your vlogs. I’m especially interested as you use Seamwork. I’ve been a subscriber since Dec 2020. I sewed a couple of patterns and they seem to come up large so I got put off but have recently gone back into my pattern library and going to give it another go as there a quite a few patterns that I’m interested in trying. I’m looking forward, with interest, to watch your Seamwork vlog when you get the chance to do it. I think the resources on the site are really good, I tried, but failed to do the wardrobe planning (life got in the way), their podcasts can be interesting too. I think once I get my head around the sizing issues and back into a rhythm with my sewing I’ll make more time to log in more regularly so I get the best out of my subscription. Thanks again for being inspiring.

I’m the opposite to you, I find it really easy to dress in winter as I wear a lot of jersey dresses but in the summer I always reach for shorts or light trousers and a crop top! I love wearing wrap dresses like the Sew Over It Georgie or the Shirtzie Dress (Stitch Upon a Time I think). Sew Over It have loads of dress patterns so maybe one of them? Or the Zadie dress by Tilly? The Southbank/Billie dresses also look super cosy for winter and would look nice and smart if you made it fitted 😊 this year my goal is to dedicate more time to sew. I love to make plans at the weekends and evenings but then never leave time for sewing, so I’ve blocked time into my diary to make sure I get some time each month 😊 that book sounds awesome! I’ve just bought it for my aunt’s birthday as she has a camper van and loves sewing and crafting! And I love the graffiti fabric, I think a Donny would look awesome, or a Helen’s Closet Gilbert with the tie front ❤

Maybe for a little while every time you make up a new fabric or every time you buy a new fabric have a rule that you finish a WIP before you can sew them up? Re stash hub I put the, on in sections such as all my skirts etc, while watching tv. Gets through them quite quickly which is good as I have a lot 😂
@SewnontheTyne
@SewnontheTyne 7 месяцев назад
That's a great idea for tackling my WIPs, thank you. Yes that would definitely make Stash Hub more manageable, I'll try that out! I have A LOT of patterns, but hopefully it won't take me all year! x

Lovely catch-up video. Honestly so impressed with Sam’s gifts. Ah! I just ordered my first cross stitch kit as well! Is a 28cm x 38cm project too adventurous for a first attempt?? 😂. I probably should scale back a bit I think to practice the techniques. And yes, there are cross stitch RU-vid videos although I can’t really recommend anyone as I just started watching the videos in the last few days.
