Ms Lori I am going to make this salad. I am from Louisiana but I have lived in Oklahoma for 35 years. I grew up on okra. I am 70 years old and I truly love watching your video. I am a country girl and I don’t want to be no city girl. Thank for all your recipes I am using them. Canning, cooking and everything you do is awesome. I made your rose water, bread, roll, plan on canning peaches. Thank you sweet lady.
Omg fried okra,,,,, so delicious. I’m blessed to have so much okra here in our small corner here in Arkansas, my moms coworkers, friends and her family members and church members give her so much okra that I have to invent many ways to prepare it but we still never tire of our fresh okra.Your fried okra look so good.
Oh my fried Okra... My Dad passed away this year and this reminds me of his comfort food.. Beans, Mustard Greens, and fried okra.. Oh and cornbread... I love it... Thank you for the memory..
Just exactly like my mommy's fried okra. She adds little triangles slices of yellow squash that has been coated just like the okra. The combo of salty coating with a little sweet squash is wonderful.
Looks delicious! I’ve been binge watching your videos and just love you guys! I’ve been in a cooking rut, like I literally go in the grocery and stand there dazed and confused hahaha! But you’ve given me lots of ideas. Thank you! God bless you both and your family as well.
We love okra, fried, cooked on top of peas or green, okra and tomatoes cooked, and pickled okra but I’ve never seen okra salad but it looks good and I’m going to try it. Thank you for this recipe.
I grew up in the south so you'd think I'd know how to pan fry okra. But my parents were from up north. My mother learned to break an egg or two over okra and kind of scramble it up. That's the only way I've ever made it because it's the only way I knew. Thanks for this. You've increased my repertoire!
Oh, boy, fried okra!!! My favorite vegetable, Lori. After discovering your channel, I am always in my kitchen making something delicious. Thanks a million; I am so happy to have found you.
Lol you were right, when I saw the crackers I thought 'well that's plumb crazy' 🤪 but we really love everything you put in there so I'll be trying this really soon. I'm still a little intimidated by the fried okra but I'm gonna try - you have inspired me once again.
Oh, poor me, raised in California, never had okra until i had it at an east Indian restaurant in Oregon a few years ago. I liked it so much! Sadly it is rarely found here, even in the organic farmers markets. Hardly any of our famous restaurants and food carts here in Oregon feature it. Some folks say it is too slimy to deal with. Me, I would love, love, love the salad you made!
I put okra in my chicken rice soup. the okra kinda melts in the broth to make it a little thicker. It almost disappears, but it's so good. Your okra salad looks so goop. I might add some black eyed peas and blanched broccoli florets to it.
I love fried okra, learned from my mother she would cut up some onion and fry it together. I use self rising corn meal mix and no extra flour. A central Arkansas recipe I guess. Thanks for sharing
That okra salad .looks so yummy! I can’t wait to try it! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought about doing my okra like that, but thank you for sharing your recipes. I love watching your videos. I actually tried your buttery hot rolls and they turned out great and even froze some for later on ;-) Thank you!
can you do a video on canning okra? I don't like pickled okra, trying figure how to can it and be able to fry it, love your videos so inspiring, thank you and God Bless
Lori, this little salad looks so good. I have never had Okra other then just boiled or fried. This salad looks delicious. I was wondering if you have ever heard of eating black eyed peas, with chopped raw onion on the top.? That is the way I always use to eat them. Also can I ask one more favor. I know you and Mr. Brown both have full time jobs at home and at your jobs and I already requested one recipe. I was wondering if you could cook up mustard greens and show me how you season them? I appreciate it.
Seems like I remember my dad pouring fried okra over sliced tomatoes. Sorta what your doing. During the summer there was always a onion on everything. And a relish tray with several different sliced peppers. No crackers though. Is the recipe for the homemade ranch somewhere in your videos. And God bless you and Mr. Brown also. Thanx!
I never would have thought to put fried okra in a salad. Of course, when I fry okra my biggest challenge is to not eat it all as it gets done! I can’t wait to try this recipe. Thank y’all for all the wonderful ideas.
Hi Lori, Thank you SO much for demonstrating how to do this. My son loves pan-fried okra but I have never made it. It was great watching you do this. Next time my son is home from college, I am going to surprise him with this. I love the idea of making an okra salad...that is so clever and looks so tasty!! Thanks for sharing. Love, Mary ❤️😘❤️ (PS...my tomatoes have not been that sweet either...it’s just too hot!! 😅😅😅)
I love fried okra! I’m definitely going to try your salad! Looks delicious! I wish I’d planted okra this yr. I usually plant a lot of it to fry and make my okra patties. Great video!
It looks delicious! But i have had okra only 2 times in my lifetime i just dont care for it its smiley the ones i tasted anyway that was at a restaurant but yours look so good!
Thank you Miss Lori. I have struggled for years to get that doggone corn flour to stick to my okra. Lol. And I can grow me some okra here with very little effort.
I love the okra salad idea. I have always loved pickled okra. I have read that studies suggest okra is good for regulating blood sugar. It looks so yummy. You inspire me to cook more.
I made Okra once. It was a disaster, totally inedible. But I did not do it anything like you did. Yours looks so good. I have stayed away from okra, but I am going to give it another try. That salad looked amazing.
@@WhippoorwillHoller would you tell me how to do it. I have about 20 pounds whole frozen okra I want to pressure can or just vinegar can so I will be able to fry later. Thanks!😇
@@WhippoorwillHoller I don’t think I’m wording my question correctly. Would you tell me what to do to can whole okra that has been frozen so I can slice to either pressure can or WB for frying later on. Sorry to be such a pest. Thank you.
One of the only things my southern parents tried to encourage, eating okra. I cannot abide it, in any form! But I wanted to recommend to you a type of tomato called Hawaiian Pineapple, it is a large orange/yellow seedless tomato that produced the best maters i have ever eaten. And yes I have also grown the Purple Cherokees and LOVE those too!
Oh my I love fried okra. And, haven't had any since I was in Tennessee. Please, please, please show me how to make a good pan of regular fried potatoes!!
Hi my dear far away friend , thanks for showing me how you cook okra...it looks really good!! I must try it....also that salad looked so tasty n crunchy!! Yum! Btw. Do you make up your cornmeal mix? Love ya xxxx
my memaw was a good, true southern woman.. I miss her so much. She was of the Depression Era and wasted nothing! Watching you cook and homestead really brings back memories. She pan fried her okra, too.. the only difference is she used bacon grease..for EVERYTHING! mmmm
Noooo !!!!!! Oh my goodness no !!!! Not like that !!! Oh it just breaks my heart how you killed that orka 😭😭😭 !!! Flour your orka first then cover it in buttermilk !! Then you put your flour cornmeal mix on it fry it and Boom 💥 fried orka !!!
