As a kid, I used to love shrimps and prawns so this dish makes it worth trying again! Love the texture and the look of it. Thank you for bringing innovative recipes to us, Chef Buck and CG!
it doesn't look like art, it looks like some sort of fossil evidence of when modern humans learned they should not consume such a thing. Jokes aside, we crushed your oven rib recipe from 5 years ago last week. Even fossilized food won't keep us from coming back for some CB and CG. Shout out to CG, she's a favorite of the wife's, including your bow down to get into frame to make a point.
Hi, CB and CG! Even when the recipe in question isn't something I'd want to make, I still enjoy the presentation. Hope you're having a good summer so far. PS - funny tee shirt!
Looks like a Vietnamese version of a shrimp toast. In the 1970-80s, Chinese American and "Polynesian" restaurants had it on the menu as appetizer, but used white sandwich bread with a schmear of shrimp paste then deep fried. It was popular amongst Western diners, much like "crab rangoon" or fried cream cheese wontons today. In Vietnam, Thailand and other SEA countries, this street food item is made as a shrimp fritter with small to medium size shrimp in a rice flour batter and deep fried.
I'm not sure I would have ever thought to try that especially with the head, feet and tail still attached. Everytime you held it up all I could think of was a miniature fosil from the dinosaur ages. Glad it was good and if I ever see it in an Asian market I might give it a try. 🦐
