Phil X demoing the incredible Friedman BE-100 Tube Head. PAN HARD LEFT TO HEAR DRY ONLY. IT"S THAT SIMPLE :) I'm certainly glad that Van Halen used delay on VH1 to create the benchmark Brown Sound, that most of us love!!!
@@jessetate9701 So many stellar guitarists over the years would go to Friedman to have him mod their stock Marshall amps. He became a legend as an amp tech, and the line of Friedman amps is the result. The Friedman "Pink Taco" is a smaller amp ( and a bit cheaper ) that is more suited for club gigs & recording studios, but it still has all the killer tones & more than enough to cut through when performing in larger venues. It's my personal preference among these killer amps. 100 watts is simply far too loud for over 90% of the gigs that most working musicians will perform in anyway. But make no mistake, the little Pink Taco can STILL get you evicted, lol. Believe that.
I ended up getting one of these based mostly on this demo. I must say that just over a year later, I am still blown away by this amp every time I turn it on. It really is worth every penny.
This is about as close to the "God tone" us old school hot rodded Marshall plexi freaks have always sought as one can possibly get. And Phil X is nuts good and entertaining!
It was thanks to this video that I now own two Friedman's. A 77' Marshall JMP "Kitchen Sink" mod and a BE100. Two of the best purchases I've made in nearly 40 years of being a tonally obsessed, guitar freak. And I can tell you first hand, the BE100 sounds EXACTLY LIKE THIS. Not just close....EXACTLY! Seriously! I've never been happier than I am with my Friedman's. Forget the high price. If you want the tone - THIS IS IT! And worth every penny.
@@Stefan-Van-der-Pulst With my Marshall 4-12 Greenback cab and 70's Strat, yes. Maybe i was blessed by the rock gods or something, that amp was magical, raw and amazing. One of only 2 best Marshalls I've ever played through in my life. Unfortunately, i don't have a recording or video of that, but i stand by my comment. It was one of those "you had to be there" or "seeing is believing" moments. I was flabbergasted, mainly !
Listened with headphones...had to crank to full volume! Sounded so freakin good! Man that guy can play!!! I always love watching Phil play too...he loves it so much! He always gets into it. Nice to see someone making a living doing what they love to do...awesome!
Your one of the first rock guitarist demo guys that hasn't bored me to death with your playing, nice combination of chords and lead, real nice sound of the amps and guitars.
This is the BEST amp demo and strat demo I've ever seen! Holy shit.... he nails Van Halen's mythical brown sound then nails Jimi.. wtf??? Because Of this video ...I've have called luxxtone to talk about a custom choppa s and they couldn't be nicer. Keep the "rockness" flowing Phil x.
The switch between the van halen-esque shredding and the Little Wing rendition...he played it with so much soul it was surprising. Real musician here. That was beautiful and super entertaining.
+Bruzz Boe At $3,500 per amp, definitely not. But who cares, Friedman's going to release this in a pedal version in a few months, so us poor folks can have a piece of this awesome tone as well!
You know how you can tell this is a great amp, there are no bad demos of be100.it sounds awesome no matter who plays it.Phil x i love your demos you are so excited about the equipment you are demoing and are able to bring out the best tones out of whatever you are playing.
Line out box to a TC2290 and Matrix GT800FX power amp. The FX loop on this amp is great, I use it for my rig and the amp sounds fantastic from whisper to LOUD. I love this amp!!
1 months after my posting I bought Motor City 2nd Black Belt with Woodward pickups. Next week I put my order in for a Friedman Dirty Shirley. Oh yes I am drooling to get my first Friedman amp.
So how you like the 2nd Degree Black Belts? Did you mean Woodward or 2nd DBB in neck or bridge? I've really been wanting a set of Motor City Pickups for as long as I can remember, but never have pulled the trigger. I do know that the 2nd DBB is Dave's favorite pickup, so it MUST sound good right, lol.
***** Sold my Dirty Shirley to get a Small Box. Yes the pickups are worth it. However, I find myself using JB with Texas Specials more often. Nothing to do with Motor City's quality. Just personal preferences. Still have them and use them.
It sounds incredible when Phil plays it. I finally got to try one today. It just sounded okay. The main drawback is that unless you're going to be playing stadiums there isn't much use for it. I had the master on 1 in the enclosed amp room at the store where I was checking it out and things were vibrating pretty heavily in there. If you played it at home on 1 your neighbors would call the police.
As good as the amp sounds(and it does sound awesome!), Phil X sounds better! Such an incredible player and performer and he sings pretty damn good, as well!
Man! That's one of the coolest guitar sounds I've ever come across! I love the way his P90 and the drive of the amp mesh together! Plus, his licks sound killer.
@@george25199 over 5K where i live ! Ridiculous. Somebody has one for sale, used/mint condition. Asking $3900, almost a great deal ! Lol Damn what a great sounding amp
Dirty Shirley knarl for my ears all night long. really digging the neck pickup. Gibson's getting It right lately.that strat was workin!! I'm that one??? F--K yeah!! Can't go wrong for brown tones here. Nailed it. If that's your thing. But powerage is my favorite album. JTM-45 ALL NIGHT
Brown Eye is like $3,500 and you're lucky if you can find a TC 2290 for under a grand. Not to mention that reverb unit and the Les Paul...hmm, $10,000 set up. I can afford that.
Anıl Yazar yep, typical for Phil x. He once had a 24 fret guitar in which he never used the neck pickup and so he pulled it out and noticed that the guitar sounded different, in his eyes better, because there were less magnets which stopped the string from vibrating and so on. So he pulled it out on every other guitar too.
Friedman uses funny names for all his amps.. Dirty Shirly, Pink Taco, Smallbox 50 and such. The brown eye came from the fact that you get Van Halen's brown sound with this amp. That's where the brown eye came from...
Sounds nice. But at $4k, it's outrageously overpriced and overhyped. Very few people need a 100w head. Even in clubs, it's just too much. Remember, this is 1930's radio technology, hardly worth $4k.
what up Scott. my phone died and I am rewatching the Johnny Beane show. thanks for the heads up on the Mettallica customtone uploads. just saw the comment. Rock on. I used to work with Phil x in LA when he was in the band powder. Hes a cool Dude. ROCK ON MAN
