In fact she overheard Chandler call her fat and that's what inspired her to channel her obsessive compulsive tendencies to lose weight. That piece of information tells us a lot about the attraction and relationship between these two.
wow I never noticed they were holding hands in the smelly cat scene! There's also still some clip left like when monica and chandler sit together in the small couch when they switched appartments, or when in the hospital chandler hypothetically ask monica to marry him, or when they were little and monica is still fat, the fact that she's thin because she wants revenge to chandler. But maan, I think they've always have a soft spot for each other. Best couple in the show!!!

Yes! Also, I don't know if the writers plotted this from the beginning--OR--if they looked at the actor's chemistry and their character's playful moments over the years, and realized "Hey, these two should be endgame." I'm so glad they were. Thank you for putting this together. 😊✨

I love that even though their relationship wasn't planned in the earlier seasons, they were really close even back then. I hate it when two characters dislike each other and then all of a sudden they're in love because they shared one romantic moment together. Chandler and Monica had a long history of friendship and love
I think it's because the chemistry between the actors and theit style of acting combined, that led to the characters being so close ou sort of touchy before the coupleing. Cox is knowing for being affectionnate, and built friendship on set and stuff, and Perry, who was very playful and engaging with the crew, admitted he did had a crush on her, so it's just natural that he would end up getting closer and she would be positively responsive. it would result in the characters being jokey with each other, exchanging smiles, some heart eyes looks would scale, interacting on the background and even holding hands, like on the smelly cat scene. it's the actors proximity. and it worked like a charm on the show! the writers got some vision!
Originally was going to be Joey!!! But when Perry n Cox got in as a joke during whole when in London the Audience loved it thats when the writers were like haaaaannggggg oooonnnn 🤔😉😄 tv gold !!!
You could see just how in sync they were, before they became a couple. In the scene where the gang was watching Joey’s porno movie, Monica and Chandler were both doing similar dance moves on the couch, to the cheesy music that was being used for the soundtrack! So cute 🥰! The scene where he was hugging her while she was in the towel was also a great scene. I also enjoyed the episode where while Carol was about to go into labor, Monica was talking on the phone with her mother, and Judy was apparently pressuring her about why she hadn’t gotten married, yet. Upon seeing her anxiety, Chandler took the phone away from Monica, pretended to imitate static, and then hung up the phone! 😂He then proceeded to take Monica in his arms. 🥰 We’ll miss you, Matthew Perry. 😢Monica and Chandler forever! ❤
I was introduced to this show with them as a couple. I always thought they were together even in season when they weren't. Even finding out they weren't together in the early seasons was so hard to see them with other people. Goes to go show how their chemistry was unbeatable.
Some of this familiarity could have been from the two actors in private life being fairly tight, even once briefly appearing on a talk show together despite not being a couple. Cox, on that talk show: "He once suggested a bet to me. If he won then I would have to sleep with him, and if I won then he would have to sleep with me."

And she was initially seeking for Joey that night but Chandler was so good at comforting her and he said she is the most beautiful person in most rooms, this was her inner fat girl, finally acting upon her feelings for him as people tend to get more vulnerable when drunk and Monica had a former fat girl sitting inside her which wanted Chandler to secretly change his opinion about her as an awkward fat girl, which felt like he did in that moment.
The way I see in Monica and chandler for 4 seasons before season 4 end than came season 5 those two have a very very good relationship between everything they do have in commonet 1 they both try date other people 2 they hang out alot over the years 3 there apartment is next to each other 4 if ross never got married in London uk in the first place Monica and chandler never slept together and fall inlove with each other So in a way it all thanks to ross had Monica and chandler meet and get them together in relationship in season 4 end than season 5 beginning
Yeah I agree with this. I'm not quite as big a fan of them as a couple as others are, because I think once they're together romantically Monica doesn't always treat Chandler as well as would be ideal

I don't think they were in love, but they did deeply love and know one another, so as soon as sex became a part of their relationship, it was very easy for that love to develop into romantic love.

they are two people with imperfections that when combined, make a perfect couple! their personalities complement each other's so well. the chemistry was always there. from the towel scene, to monica wanting twin babies in season 1 so chandler makes a promise, up to how healthily they manage and make the other person grow.
well it boils down to the actors' chemistry as those characters which was always there but when you have Ross and Rachel with that passionate chemistry between them, they get kinda overlooked.
