My dad always said to me growing up when I was dating someone to "just be friends with them". I used to think that he just didn't want me having a boyfriend but now I understand that a successful relationship is built on a "be friends before anything else" foundation. It's something I always say to my husband that whenever we fight, we are friends first... And that's what saves us all the time. Amazing advice from my Dad... I just didn't realize it at the time.

Also in the very first episode, wasn’t Chandler hating on the guy Monica was going out with? (Paul the Wine Guy). He was noticeably less excited about her dating him than everyone else and kept “forgetting” his name. I definitely thought he was jealous!
The towel hugging scene and the scene with Mon watching chandler sleep makes it so hard to believe that they were never supposed to be together, they’re just so natural
Even all the touching they do is crazy. They're often sitting together, hugging, poking, laying down on each other, looking at each other and smiling or laughing or something. They always seemed like really close friends who had a crush on each other.
Yeah, I think that was the reason Ross/Rachel doesn't fits well at the end, because they waste them since the beggining...and Chandler/Mónica came naturally when the serie was advanced...
@@pvm3363 I think that the writers also let the split to much time, Jen and David had a very good chemistry, but the writers didn't made a good use of it.
@@beatrizalmeidasantos7746 Season 9 was the perfect way for them to reunite. With all the build up in Season 8, especially that scene where Ross imagined that he could proposed to Rachel at Planetarium. I still dont get it why the writers and producers wanted the "ON and OFF" thing.

nothing beats the fact that in season 1 monica was sad cos she saw a woman with twins ("she has TWO and i dont even have ONE") and chandler says that if she doesnt have anyone by the time she is forty then they can have a baby. and then it ends with them having twins.
I always saw that. I wanted them to be together since season 1. The chemistry were always there. The words couldn’t describe how happy I was since season 5 😍
i think the first sign of mondler that like really, *really* stood out to me was the one with the flashback. seeing monica and chandler interact like that before the group fully formed showed the chemistry they had, not to mention how chandler and her literally talked about how she was single and then proceeded to hug for a *very* long amount of time while monica only wore a towel. either that was a sign or showed how they were platonic with a capital P.
Me and hubby are the mondler of our group. We met as friends, had many laughs, many memories then one night stand after a few too many drinks and compliments, kept sleeping together(Amazing sex lol) kept it secret in case our friends didn't get it and my bro(his friend) wouldn't lose his shit, got caught sleeping together by a mutual friend, the secret was over, married with two kids 17 years later.
Growing up I always hoped that I would find my Chandler to have a family with and call my best friend. Rest in Peace Matthew Perry. You did a lot of great important work, and this was one of the many. Thank you for all of it. (And thank you for raising my standards all those years ago)

Even early on you can see monica and chandler being sweet on each other. In the scenes hanging out chandler would be holding Monica close at the coffee house, in the apartment, just holding each other and enjoying each others company. And he was the one who reminded her many times she’s great and doesn’t know why she’s single
Though it wasn't a planned relationship, MonDler had the moat mature relationship on the show. It grew over time, also they cared about each other as friends in initial seasons.
When she said “If you were the last man on earth, I wouldn’t date you” (I kinda laughed at that but anyway…) He was definitely peeved at it because the entire episode he kept bothering her about it
There's also a scene where Phoebe is talking about the Relaxicab and Monica is sitting on him in a small chair. I always thought they would end up together 💜

From day 1 I was already shipping them without even realising that they were actually ending up together. That jus shows the undeniable chemistry from the start. I LOVE THEM SM!!!

I love Ross and Rachel. But there's something about Monica and Chandler that makes them my favourite couple ❤❤ They were just perfect for each other. I love how they started off as friends.
this is how every tv show director should be!!! they observed what the audience liked and improvised. hard to have good things to watch now because everything was just so perfect back then that it set the bar high
If this is the case than Ross and Pheobe were also made for each other because out of all of them only Pheobe was mostly less irritated with Ross and always supported him in every way possible...
I’m pretty sure Ross-Phoebe was a possibility to the producers, Rachel-Chandler, and Monica-Joey also. They definitely tested those possibilities before they were sure of the chemistry and audiences’ reaction to them.
Ross and Phoebe would have been such a good couple. Whenever they shared a storyline it would be hilarious. Phoebe should have ended up with Ross or Joey. Rachel should have been the one to date outside the group.
Monica and Chandler even with them not being in a relationship we’re maybe the best friends on the show The only rivalry they have is Chandler and Joey But despite Chandler having been friends with Ross longer he is better friends with Monica And it was a very sweet friendship with no obvious alternate motive of potentially dating
