This was awesome. You might like Gospel Hearth, he covers similar analysis from the Iliad and points the Greek ideals back to Alexander (and, ultimately, to Christ) Great review of this chapter. Thank you!
Ah, finally we are in complete agreement. This is also my favorite book of the Iliad. Homer at his best and one of the finest scenes in literature, from any age or genre. I would guess this book does not come from earlier lays about the war. It is all Homer and one reason I believe he was above the story he is telling re: the wrath of Achilles.
I am attempting to read the Iliad in the original Greek. We will see how far I get since it is very hard Greek and not similar to koine Greek, which I am most familiar with. I enjoy these videos.
I cannot wait for the next installment! You have a great speaking voice and your videos make wonderful listening while I do chores and contemplate these wisdom teachings. Soon I will be teaching these stories to 5th graders so taking in the important themes of these stories is wonderful.
The only man that only has one wife never take sex slave and concubines. Even resist the helen seducing act. Hector is my favourite hero. He reminds me of myself when I was fought for my late parents during their life.
Maybe he knows that they are doomed because Paris is the one who incited the War in the first place. Since he is clearly an honorable and dutiful man, he recognizes the wrongdoing of his brother and expects the gods to dole out just punishment.
