I read volume two yesterday and TBH it was even better than volume one. There’s more action in the second volume and it’s definitely going in a direction I didn’t initially expect. This may well be on my favorite ongoing manga list next year

I love the *tone* of this manga. The slow and meditative journey is really satisfying. It has a good mix of longer arcs and 1 chapter characters, really like it.

The idea of mortality, the passage of time, losing and being lost. These are some of the only things that keep me awake at night and boy this manga just hits me so fucking much sometimes. I shed a tear every 2 chapters, no medium has ever made me feel like this manga does.

It literally keep me up at night after reading the first volume. It made me feel something I never felt before reading manga it feels.... empty in some way, after the first chapter Himmel basically only live in flashback but he feel like a old friend I never have

Even when Himmel has passed, the manga shows his influence to Frieren, and even to the readers of the manga. One is on why she always helps people for shitty rewards, this alone teaches readers on how to deal with life IRL.

It's my number one manga of all time and I have been reading manga since my childhood so for about a decade now. I don't think it'll change anytime soon as my number 1 since it's so well written and the author has encapsulated the atmosphere of being solemn, different joys in life, and peace of death all at the same time. I love it so much, I don't know why but everything hits different with this one.

I think this manga is thought-provoking.Frieren reminded me of what I had forgotten.Every page is great, from the delicate facial expressions to the battle scene. I can’t wait for the next volume to come out!

I actually started reading the series because of this channel and bought the first volume because of all the awards it won. But that scene at the funeral was so impactful. Not many series hits that hard especially in the first chapter.

This is one of my favorite ongoing manga, and I'm so glad it's getting noticed. The perspective on life and time is so well observed, and it's often funny and can deliver on the action too.

One of the best mangas I've read, arcs well elaborated, beautiful art, excellent use of the fantasy to write an outstanding story. Sousou No Frieren is awesome!

What I thought of this series? That Volume 3 needs to get here already. Lol. In all seriousness it's an incredible addition to the Shonen Sunday lineup that was a nice surprise to discover.

My old bestfriend recommended this to me when I asked which manga I should be reading, he told this one and I actually bought vol1 and 2 and read them both. I can say that I am really interest in the series. The way vol1 started off left me in tear at night as I was reading before bed. As I read on, I really love all those drawings and stuff. Vol2 got really better for me. I don't wanna spoil for others, so I can say is I want vol3 now lol.

i only picked this up last month but already it's one of my favourite titles of all time, hehe. i also think it's a series that gets even better upon rereads because you pick up more things you didn't before. anyway, i've been struggling to describe how much i love this series to my friends, so thank you for articulating it all so perfectly! wonderful video!

Vol 8 English dropped on June 20, 2023. The Japanese version is at Vol 10. Best story I have read in a very long time. This manga brings the feels, all of them. Frieren is herself, an amazing creation. Begin a meditation on death and immortality, and turn the page, you are laughing how Frieren quests after a spell to dry clothes and remove rust. Story is somewhat Slice of Lifey. A 2 hour Anime adaptation opens Sep 29, 2023!

This looks right up my alley!!! I need to stop spending so much money on manga ATM but as soon as I can, I'm picking this one up. I've seen people compare it to To Your Eternity and I thought that the anime for TYE was alright but I was hoping for more from it. Hopefully Frieren can give me what I was hoping for, in one way or another.

stories of mortality and loss from the perspective of a near immortal being is a very small niche that never fails to grip me. With to your eternity being one of my only 10/10 anime frieren hit the exact same spot but in a very different way. Its also the only manga that had me tearing up, almost to the point of crying, in the first chapter

This title got announced to be soon published in Mexico (where I'm from) and I was at first hesitant to give it a chance because I'm not particularly kin on fantasy stories, and I honestly thought it'd be isekai lol but I loved your review, and it does seem pretty interesting! I might grab a copy, but I'm still wary if it'll be something I'll fall in love with.

I don't know if you ended up getting it, but I can assure you it's nothing as an Isekai. If you like Lord of the Rings or DND, you will love Frieren. It's literally a high fantasy universe where the players finished the main quest and are now going for the side quests (funny missions, emotional journey and time to time, eliminations a the demons who survived the war). It's well written and the atmosphere is everything!

If you live in germany, switzerland or austria, you can get the german translation of the first two frieren volumes and an acrylic stand for 26€. Just bought it yesterday and it immediately went to my top 10.

for all the people that still hesitant to buy this manga, this is all I can say if your getting tired of the current tropes in the fantasy genre (isekai, harem, bastard antagonist, etc) this is manga is like a breath of fresh air from that.

Chuckled at the "Name/Description" that got left in at 2:55 , which also tells me you edit in iMovie since that's the default text. Anyway, yeah, Frieren's first two volumes are really good and I look forward to reading volume 3.

This one did catch my eye and I picked it up when its english release came out. I thought that it was a good first volume, but I worry about it showing too much of its hand early on. I hope that there is a good adventure ahead.

One thing about the series I really like, is that at the beginning of the manga Years can pass in one chapter but as Frieren changes, the story slows down. Which makes you feel like her that you're spending more time to get to know the characters.

Apparently there was at least one translation error of the German (the name of a lake I think), which is unfortunate, and then ofc VIZ localized away the honorifics, so that's annoying too. I picked up English Vol. 1, but sometimes I think I should just buy the Japanese volumes. It's not like I read the physical English ones anyway. VIZ's One-Punch Man is so awful that that is what I'm gonna do for it, but I wonder what my bar should be for that going forward. Idk.

I really did think this manga had a great story, but I found myself having trouble with Frieren, I felt she was kind of boring and there wasn’t really any action/ little humor. I’m hoping this is just a slow burn and that it will pick up in volume 2.

I'm glad you liked it. I found it to be one of most overhyped and overrated, boring, bland manga I've ever tried to read. Basically, just another "acclaimed by the scans-reading audience" title.
