I’m Ryley, The Omnibus Collector, and welcome to my channel!
My whole life I’ve been a huge lover of all kinds of geeky things, and it’s mostly manifested into my collection of comics and manga!
I post videos about manga and comics every week, just talking about whatever is on my mind! I try to give advice to new collectors and readers of both comics and manga while talking as well about books I love!
I had a major rain water leak on stormy night into my game/ collectibles room. The water pooled under the shelf with comics etc. destroyed everything.the mold went into the cracks of the protectors and darkened the pages and some the pages were stuck together.the water ran through my attic and down the wall behind the shelf and the water was pooled against the wall.the ceiling and wall were ruined too. Also, the water rusted out many video games! 😢
I enjoyed the video, as I'm thinking about getting into the series via the deluxe ed. But I personally think checking out any adaptation to see if you want to get into a manga or comics series is a bad suggestion. Buying a cheaper, previous ed is fine, but watching the anime should only be done if you don't read manga and vice versa.
@@smcdonough1427 it’s actually mostly just exposure to oxygen in general, but also light and moisture/lack thereof. I have another video that goes into it in more detail.
Dementia 21 is great! So dark and absurd. Super Dimensional Love Gun is cool too. Just bought a few other titles (princess of the never ending castle series/tract) he is a top favorite of mine. Going to check out your other recommendations. I also subbed 😉
I'm excited, but also cautiously nervous if increasing the speed of translations means cutting corners... 0_0 I wouldn't be surprised that translating everything from Japanese, getting Araki to illustrate new art for the official English publications (while he's also working on Jojolands), and getting everything all printed takes a lot of work - and would rather wait for some high quality graphic novel manga, especially for a fan-favorite like SBR.
hey dude, I'm starting to collect manga right now (I only have a few jjk volumes, a silent voice, Aot Chainsaw man and a few spy family volumes. I want to get into collecting, but I dont really know how to start tbh. got any pointers???
I personally like to focus on collecting one series at a time, and I try to avoid on-going series except for the ones I really really love and the ones that are almost finished. In addition to that, don’t guilt yourself if you collect a lot of volumes for a series and you just stop enjoying it. Id recommend that you give it some time. If after a while you still don’t enjoy it, it’s fine to drop it and sell what you own so you stop feeling that guilt to collect. If you’re looking for recommendations or what to read, you should ask yourself “what do I enjoy about my favorite stories?” Is it the action? If it is, then what about the action do you enjoy? Look into the deeper reasons you enjoy what you enjoy, and find stories that fulfill those needs and wants! Maybe you like jjk but you only like it for the abilities so then you might find that you would enjoy hunter x hunter due to its complex ability writing! Just gotta figure out what you’re into and what kind of stories draw you!
@@markinlife thanks a bunch man!! I'll really try to organize my collection and all that, ya know, review to see which ones I want to keep reading and which ones I want to start to collect. but again, ur a great help dude. honestly, I think I'm going to think a bit more before starting a new series. well yea, thanks for the advice and have a good one!!
Loved the video!💕 Just started my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They offer a huge variety of digital comics for every genre, and lifetime updates too!😍
Yugi's Deck literally cannot function in the hands of anyone who's not a main character. Of the 25 monsters in his 40 card deck, over HALF of them require sacrifices, MOST of them requiring 2, and unlike Kaiba, he doesn't really have any good draw engines or card seeking cards that aren't SUPER situational. Add that on top of, making up shit as he goes along, and the cards not functioning like they're supposed to IRL, and Yugi's Deck is practically unusable. Joey's Deck is the least likely to Brick between him, Kaiba, and Yugi's. Yugi's or Kaiba's deck will run you into a useless opening hand 7/10 times.
My biggest mistake when starting to buy manga was watching too many videos on that talked about "manga you must own" etc that made me think I needed all the classics or whatever was super hype at the moment. It was a learning curve to figure out that I should collect things that I really like myself and not go with whatever was called great by others. I gave away quite a lot of manga that I just bought because of the hype and focus on making my collection more personal. I might collect some series that aren't the greatest but I enjoy them a lot so it is worth it more than getting something called great by someone else that I don't like as much.
Always appreciate these videos! Knowing that it's only 5 omnis makes me suddenly interested in Homunculous 🤔 and I was already super stoked for the last Delicious in Dungeon! (I just hope they keep restocking volumes diligently. I am trying to collect the whole series and it's been a struggle lmao) of the ongoing series you didn't mention, there's a lot I'm interested in this month: Raeliana, Reincarnated Aristocrat, Crash Course in Naughtiness, Kuma Bear, I Swear I won't Bother You Again...mostly isekai as one can tell by me having to abbreviate the titles 😂
This is funny, and the threshold for “real” is a bit ironic. It’s all fiction, and if we define a thins as “real” because it exists… I seent it. It’s in his hand..
Love the shirt. I recently binge watched King of the Hill and was surprised how much I loved it. The stories and characters have so much life, realism and emotional depth to them.
Welcome back! Hopefully everythings going well! For stuff coming out this month, im really looking forward to Aria of the Beech Forest! It looks suuuper cute and i love that it has a Celtic setting, its something i find heavily underutilized in anime and manga. I was also interested in Noss and Zakuro (ive been following the artist on Twitter for a bit and their art is super cute) and ive heard good things about Your Letter and Throw The Suit Away. (i have a friend who loved the latter and was super bummed when it got cancelled) it wasnt mentioned here but the new LN omnibus for Otherside Picnic is coming out this month so im really looking forward to grabbing that when i can!
