As for the ages of the characters, Himmel was 19 when their journey began, so 29 in the first episode and he died at 79. Heiter the priest was 18 when the journey began, so 28 in episode 1 and 98 at the end. For why he lived so long and stayed rather fit, as a priest he knows a lot of healing magic and blessings so he most likely used that on himself a lot over the years. The age of Eisen the dwarf is not known but the average dwarf can live about 300 years in the Frieren world. As for elfs and Frieren... her age will come up in later episodes. Also the first 4 "episodes" of this show were originally broadcast as one 100 minute pilot episode in Japan so they can feel a bit disjointed since you are supposed to watch them together. Only after that a bigger purpose to the plot will be evident.
The first 4 episodes were aired back to back in the same day, but not as a single episode like Oshi No Ko. It was like Vinland Saga where each episode got an OP and ED song.
There are a bunch of female-led animes out there, it's a whole genre that's targeted at girls/women often with a focus on romance, but these are generally not as popular as the "fighting ones". lol "Violet Evergarden", "The Apothecary Diaries" and "The Ancient Magus’ Bride" are great female-led stories for example.
I know people have already let you know, but I'm just reiterating: A mage is just someone who can use magic, it has nothing to do with race or anything. Frieren is an elven mage whereas Fern is a human mage. The reason Frieren lives so long is because she is an elf not because she can use magic.
If you are interested: Almost every name in this show is a German word or very similar to German words (maybe just subtitle errors). They mostly represent traits of the characters. Himmel = heaven / sky Heiter = joyful / "sunny" Eisen = iron Frieren = to be cold / freeze
We don't know how long elves live in this universe. Elves are usually long lived or near immortal. we will learn about how old she is in episodes 4 and 10... Please note she said that the 10 years journey was but a 100th of her life.... as for Eisen, we don't know his age, but dwarfs live to about 300 years
