It was not, in fact, her. Edit: It's more possible she is his girls daughter than Ehre being her. Demons started back up 29 years ago and he was there. He was an adult when her village was saved and she was still a child.
God I hope it isn't her daughter lol, since they're clearly trying to start a romance there with Wirbel and Ehre. I'm also not too convinced with that theory since If Ehere's mother happens to be Ehre's grandfather kid, I would expect them to live in the magic city rather than a village considering the grandfather's background (I'm trying to not spoil too much here, apologies), but it could be the father as well so who knows, but with how Frieren is, I don't think it'd be something unexpected like that
I so enjoy Land's complete deadpan delivery of "since before the test began. I don't trust anyone." He feels like he's now always one step ahead. perpetually.
when they were describing serie, they werent saying her power is close to the goddess as a way of blasphemy or anything but that if there was a scale of power and the goddess is the highest on that scale, serie would be the closest to her.
I also took it as she's one of the only things left from the era when the goddess was involved with the earth. I can't remember the details but I think Kraft and Frieren said in one of their discussions that the goddess hasn't been seen in thousands of years. Serie is almost certainly old enough to have been there at that time
Yeah, if anyone is old enough to confirm the Goddess was walking the earth during the age of heroes, it would be Serie. I hope we learn more about her background at some point, she's a fascinating character.
Honestly it's just great character writing. His appearance plays with our expectations, but then we realize there's so much more to him than the edgy appearance he portrays.
"Sense" is not the English "sense". It's the German word for "scythe". Pronunciation wise it is similar, the main difference being the E at the end, which is not silent.
Finally! The reveal of the enigmatic Throne Elf aka Serie, The Living Grimoire. Want to point out how quick Ubel was able to deduce the weakness of Wirbel's magic. Also the part where Ubel states "we tend to use magic that reflect who are" in regards to Fern, Fern casts and spams spells at such speeds because when she was training, she was running against time to let Heiter know that she will be okay. Compounded by the fact that Frieren states that Fern learns magic much quicker than the average mage. Can't wait for the hype that is next episode.
It's also partially a reflection of her teachings by Frieren, who was in turn taught by Flamme. Flamme taught Frieren to stay under the radar to deceive demons, causing them to underestimate her and engage when they should by rights be running for the hills and find a deep dark hole to hide within. Using only basic magic aids in that. Similar to how a martial artist using only basic punches might cause less cautious enemies to assume that's all they know and the extent of their mastery. Frieren taught Fern in the same manner. You don't show off. You keep your mana and cards close to your chest until you have the enemy where you want them and then you overwhelm and crush them before their realization that things are not as they seem can actually make a difference.
Ubel: "We tend to use magic that reflect who we are. What spells do you use?" Fern: "Basic attack, basic defence... Err... Spell to see through clothes..." Ubel: *hides in the farthest point of the cave in panic
I've noticed a peculiar trend in this series. Every elf we've encountered so far has been OP af. We got Frieren who defeated the Demon King, Kraft who has lived since the Mythical Era, and now Serie who essentially knows every spell in the history of humanity.
@thejester7834 The only ones to survive were the really strong ones. The Demons targeted the elves bc the Demons as a social structure believe mana equals power. Since mana increase proportional to age targeting the longest lived race first makes sense. If Freieren wasn't saved by Flamme you could make a good argument the Demons would have won. So the strategy wasn't without merit.
The most frustrating part about watching your videos is that you are always so close to the right questions and answers and then I have to wait for the next episode to see your reactions. I dont have the patience for that.
Some people theorize that its Wirbel and Sense due to their ages lining up and similar hair colors, but I think it's probably not someone we've met yet. I wouldn't expect Wirbel's crush to also be a mage, but I suppose anything is possible.
apothecary diaries is one that i am gonna add to a poll to see if you guys would want to watch with me after this! i have a couple others that i’ll add to the poll to gauge what people are wanting so stay tuned :)
I'm sad that John is choosing to step away but I hope he knows that his presence was heartwarming and we will miss him while also continuing to support Kim 🫡
thank you so much for understanding! john definitely feels all of the love and support from everyone’s kind words since our announcement! and it honestly means so much to me that you will still want to watch some amazing anime with me in the future :)
@@FTF-Media We hope he at least considers to perhaps come back for if and when you guys' wish for 50 episodes of this show comes true, some time further off in the future! 😉 Totally 100% fine if not! We as fans just want the whole gang together for the journey to heaven. Can't be having one member break off of the story, a la Sein, on us! But again, it is totally up to y'alls wishes!
The one thing I both really like and sometimes find frustrating about Frieren is how much showing it does rather than telling when presenting the story. I don't think I'm spoiling anything, but I think I can tell you this part of the show starts to focus on the differing philosophies of magic in the show. Less on what magic is, and more on the why. Its subtle, but the show does show the reasoning behind why "old" style magic seemingly differs from the modern usage. Anything else would be a spoiler lol. Also Wirbl is like 35 at least. Older than he looks.
If it was Ehre who Wirbel promised to save the demons for, why did he get 10 years older and her get a couple of years younger in the other scene? It's like when I saw Tim Watkins who I went to school with 25 years ago. I punched him in the arm and said 'HOW ARE YA SONOVA B!' and he started crying. I was like whoah whoah whoah... if he's Tim, why didn't he grow up too?
The contrast bewteen Ubel and Wirbel personalities and fellings about killing someone is more evident with the fact that he didnt notice that Fern was lying about killing Ehre but Ubel knew that Fern was telling a lie. Wirbel has to kill people before but he didnt have any pleasure doing it but Ubel enjoys that and she is always ready to fight to the death even if it costs her own life. Also, on the next episode you will see the connection bewteen Frieren and Serie. It is truly a surprise that i didn´t see it coming on my first watch.
It’s funny that Wirbel’s childhood crush looks vaguely like Mikasa, with the pink top and red scarf, especially considering Wirbel is voiced by Jean lol
To throw things into perspective, in the light novels they don't come out and say it, it's only heavily implied the strength difference between serie and frieren. Serie is basically a full grown adult, and frieren is still only a newborn. This applies to their age as well as power.
The girl Wirbel made the promise to is not Ehre. Wirbel is significantly older than Ehre. However, while it's only alluded to in the series. Ehre is the granddaughter of Lernen, the first class mage who recognized Frieren's holy symbol.
Another fun reaction video... I'm always excited to see you two react to Frieren episodes as you both clearly have fun, have a good friendship and good chemistry. It makes you're videos feel welcoming.... Back on point... 😅😊 No, Ehre is not Wirbel's long lost love. They give you the rough math, he's in his early 30's(at least 31), Ehre was a very little girl in the flashback, maybe around 10 or so? By then he was already a full grown man. If you recall in his story, the scene with him making that promise as a child, both he and the girl who's face he can't recall were young children but present day Ehre is still quite young. And lastly, he wouldn't have to tell her the story if she were actually a part of it. Sure you can theorize she's keeping that secret hoping he'll remember for himself. Sure it may be more romantic to think she's not revealing her identity but....just looking at her in present day, she's not an elf or a dwarf, she's human, so she would have aged into adulthood some time ago. Since he is already in his 30's, that would put her in her 30's as well yet she's clearly still a very young girl. Ehre obviously has a crush on him though....so you weren't wrong to pick up on her feelings during her flashback scene. Crushes are easy to spot after all.
Oh. I have no idea how many times I have seen this episode. Probably over 30. I just now noticed that Denkin learned the elf's name was Frieren because Lawine called out to her uaing her name after the Stille was taken.
Thanks for turning on the light around the 32 minute mark, it was getting pretty dark. Perhaps have a backup light on the whole time so that you don't get distracted theorizing & speculating. The animators could have saved us a lot of trouble if they made more obvious differences between Wirbel's childhood crush & Ehre. I think they're different people.
Show dont tell at its best - Whirbel have a spell so delay killing, cause he is not natural born killer. He is forced to be such. So he could not recognise Fern lying to him. But the real killer Ubel notes this instant. So much char. development in one scene!
First of all, I'm a little sorry if my English is a little strange because I don't understand English. Please understand if this seems like a long post. Up until episode 20, I thought Wirbel was a really bad guy, but that image completely changed in episode 20. In episode 20, I learned that Wirbel is a really good and kind person. Wirbel went to find Scharf, Carrying Ehre on your back, and Wirbel learned that he is a man who cares for his friends. These 20 episodes have made me like Wirbel.
Regarding the comparison of Serie to the goddess: you might want to go back and look at the depiction of the goddess in Episode 1. If that depiction is accurate, then the goddess and Serie have something in common that may be part of what prompted the comparison.
Perfect timing with the upload! Edit: 8:07 Yippee, more throne elf theories. Edit: 16:33 You guys are the first I've seen that actually thought that Ehre could be the girl Wirbel wanted to impress. AFAIK it's definitely possible, and it's crazy how no other reactors seem to have picked up on the hints. Edit: 20:00 Throne elf is revealed!!! Edit: 26:19 Regarding the whole Old School v New School mages thing, Ehre when fighting Fern mentions she fights like her grandfather, who in this episode she revealed to be a First-class Mage. Which i think really develops Ehre's feeling of wrongness back in episode 19. It'd be *really* weird to see someone younger than you with a fighting style similar to one of the oldest and most powerful mages you know.
From my understanding magic is about imagening and understanding the spell to some extent, so obviously someone who uses water, it might be because to visualize their spells using water might come naturally, or maybe someone is enamored with fire, maybe you need the spell to hit hard, so they envision a big Boulder etc etc, imagination being a part is like, to put out a fire is it easier to envision water raining down, or balling up the fire into a ball, but stop the burning, but its just how you imagine it the best
also, first class is just a title, a very prestigious title but its just a title. they get a certificate or something and they can just go off if they like, they dont have to serve serie if they dont want to. the prize of getting any grimoire the first class mage wants is the prize for this great title. i think your over villainizing serie a bit is all.
hi there! kim here :) i promise i will be getting back to reacting to it SO soon, i am going through withdrawals myself :’) i just need a little bit more time to adjust to the transition the channel will be making (i dunno if you saw our community post!) and then i promise i will be right back to it! thank you for wanting to watch with me!!
Ehre is around the same age as Kanne, Lawine, Laufen, and Fern. About 18-20. Wirbel already in his mid 30's, around 34-35. No, Ehre is not the girl Wirbel keep promise to.
so magic comes from the demons. humans and elves adapted the magic. demons make one magic their calling. elves tend to learn all different kinds of magic. the modern humans connect to the elements to try to bypass shields. magic is connected to your personality. wait until you see more of serie. you will have a strong opinion. not saying which.
hi, kim here! no no not at all, i love FMAB with my whole heart! i promise i will be getting back to reacting to it asap but please check out the update about our channel that we posted under the community tab-i think that explains it a little better!! thank you for supporting our channel :)
