Denken is such a gigachad. I literally couldnt stop laughing at the scene in the end, it was so epic. I'm so excited that he passed the first exam so we get to see more of them. Yes, Denken and Ubel seem to be everyone’s favorites among the new characters. ^_^ And yes, the “s’s” seem to be pronounced with “z’s,” so Serie is Zeri-eh, Sense is Zen-seh, and Sein is Zein. I agree the background artwork is gorgeous (they usually hire specialists for most anime), but if you’re one to dabble in or do artwork, you can really appreciate just how good and how much time/effort/talent went into producing these backgrounds. Not only the outdoor nature scenes, but the architecture artwork is fantastic too.
Hey! I've been binge-watching your Frieren videos today and I think I Liked most of them but since you asked nicely I'll comment on this one! Frieren is easily my favorite anime of all time and if I were going to cosplay somebody, Denken would be a solid contender because everybody else is way too young. 😅 But also he's a fantastic character.

The 2nd opening theme is actually titled "Haru" which in the context of the Kanji and lyrics used in the song means "sunny", ties down with you mentioning it being a summer song, but funny cuz Haru also means "spring", as the usage of it can be interchangeable especially in stylistic works like writing songs. Love this song thoo.
Yeah, the rain was really important in two ways. First, it made them realize the Stille had to go to a pond or lake to drink water because they couldn't simply drink from a temporary puddle even if it was raining, which allowed Frieren to come up with their plan to catch one. And then it allowed Kanne and Lawine to defeat Richter after Frieren took down the barrier.

As Genau, the first-class mage and proctor of the first test said: Frieren's holy emblem in a way signifies she's the last great mage (the others being Serie and Flamme). That's why the old mage who saw the emblem, back when our team first arrived at the Continental Magic Association, looked shocked and immediately granted her permission to participate in the first class mage exam (she wasn't allowed before). He was likely humbled by Frieren's presence-a living legend. What's also interesting to note is that back when Frieren traveled with Himmel-they had yet to defeat the Demon King-she already possessed the holy emblem. Neither Heiter or Himmel recognized it, commenting it looked like an antique artifact. So she's been a big deal for a long time; not simply living in full obscurity in the thousand years between Flamme's death and meeting the hero party. Btw I enjoy the parallels of Serie and Frieren both being elven mages who each took on extremely skilled human mages, respectively, Flamme and Fern. Though obviously they have completely different teaching styles.
Id assume frieren master set up some sort of mage class & exame in her later years after having fully trained frieren. & she gave her the emblem thus allowing one single tie between frieren & herself for the further mages who are educated on the history of mages
YES! The nana collection is there cause I started doing a deepdive into the series because it’s my fav anime/manga! But it’s super time consuming to record and edit and so the wall of Nana just remains there until I can get it done haha
12:14 it’s not that she dislikes it, she used to “use more flashy spells” but Himmel got mad at her. Frieren sticking to the “basics” to fight is her direct response to that. Repeating the basics over and over again is very martial arts-like.
A little spoiler The Holy Emblem means so much more. But for now it means the holder is a Great Mage same title with Serie and Flamme. and at the moment the only known living holder are Serie and Frieren.
So for the intro, I believe it was to show that Serie hasn't changed much at all in the time that's passed since when Frieren and Flamme both appeared to her, to present day. Which is why it looked like they faded out of existence there. Just a cheeky lil time skip!

There will definitely be an artbook, actually there was a Frieren event here in Tokyo, Ikebukuro today and they gave out some books.
