david vasquez Goku should've known. King Kai said a protector of the Saiyans sent a huge meteor to kill all the bad Saiyans along with Planet Vegeta. But the only person who knew of Bardock's true intentions were King Kai.
The simple fact that Bardock’s actions of single-handedly standing up to Frieza and his entire army. And shouting such disobedience was so impactful to Frieza that it’s been imbedded in his mind for three decades, that says a lot about Bardock’s ability to get under peoples skins. And the almost PTSD style trauma that Frieza has, because it was the first time a single Saiyan had the courage to stand up to him and try to fight him. And then to see Bardock’s son do the same when Goku’s older brother was so much more obedient, well, I guess Frieza is in no way happy.

Those are actually Frieza’s army of henchmen who tried stopping Bardock get near Frieza but he was too powerful to be held back by all of them. They only stood still because Frieza stood still and were fearful of what he may do next

He likely wouldn't have given, that if the saiyans killed frieza, then beerus would have dealt with them or they would have taken over his empire and continued to conquer planets. The Saiyans were hardly any better than frieza. They were the lesser of two evils, but that didn't mean they were good at all
The saiyans were no match for frieza or his race. Yeah, a saiyan uprising would have decimated the frieza force and probably destroyed its empire but it wouldnt have lasted long. The best comparison I can think of would be operation barabarossa: sweeping gains in the beginning only to be overpowered by sheer manpower (not to mention the occasional planetbusting). The saiyans werent exactly known to be merciful rulers and the universe would definately prefered the cold and calculating frieza over some hotheaded maurauding saiyans.
@@lapplandkun9273 the saiyans were in no way the lesser of two evils. On what basis are we judging frieza here exactly? Because of how he treated saiyans and namekians? Two species that openly challenged him? It has been very much established that frieza was rather merciful, which is why he prefered to run around in his base form before vegeta, piccollo and goku showed up. He saw no reason to go all out until absolutely necessary. Not to mention that those who join him are able to enjoy all kinds of luxuries. And while the frieza force conquers planet the saiyans completely wipes out all intelligent life on them and then proceeds to sell them to the highest bidder. Funnily enough we had a similar kind of uprising recently in real life when the wagner group challenged putin. Do you really think prigoshin would have been the lesser evil compared to putin? Historically speaking, whenever mercenaries take over countries they just hold it for ransom and completely neglect its people. And I should also remind you that goku is not your average saiyan. Raditz, nappa and vegeta were and you could see how much damage a small band of maurading saiyans could cause. Now imagine that on a glactic scale and you can see why nobody would have sided with the sayians.

I never realized till now how much you can hear Krillin in Bardock’s voice at times especially at his screaming his dialogue parts and also just when he about to be engulfed in the blast.
That's mostly because this was Sonny Strait's first time voicing Bardock. The movie didn't come out until more than a year later. He was still getting the feel for the voice. In the orange bricks remastered version he re-recorded the lines to sound more like Bardock in the movie.
This was the first time I had seen Bardock in that episode as a child way before i had seen Bardock: The Father Of Goku! Bardock is one of the best DBZ characters and not only is he Goku's dad, but the grandfather of both Gohan and Goten, and the great grandfather of Pan!!!🔥🔥🔥
@@mrea_joshua I did see Bardock in DBS: Broly but compared to DBZ Bardock, he didn't wear his iconic red headband that always stands out when I think about Bardock, he didn't gain psychic powers from one of the aliens that he and his teammates killed, and he didn't go after Freeza after finding out that his teammates were killed by The Freeza Force! However, I did get to met his wife Gine 🧅! Saiyan babies aren't delivered by alien storks or grow out of cabbage patches you know! 😜

Yeah. One of his most iconic lines for sure. A lot of people tend to interpret that as Goku not caring about his father Bardock. I like to think that what Goku meant by that is that he actually doesn't care about what Frieza's talking about or any specific murders he's committed.
@Ok boomer no one fears frieza. He’s a punk. They all tried to fight him. But failed. If they were súper saiyans tho, they would’ve stood a chance… But they were ambushed and tricked. They were never scared. Just a proud race
This is THE GUY! I remember finally fighting my bully because I knew Goku just didn’t give a dam. Now I’m dam near 30 and questioned all that bravery I did back In those old days because of what super done to my childhood hero
Bardock is very proud and brave too in the same time because he was fighting Frieza all by himself what no one did from the saiyans at that time. He faced Frieza with honour. Thats what you call a lion heart a true warrior.
@@Narutofan2268the whole scene really is a masterpiece.given if you seen the original DB it carries so much weight because we saw Goku grow up all that time not knowing his parents or anything about his Sayian lineage and for it all to be dropped on him in this moment in the face of impending death is what makes it so good.Frieza had the entirety of the Sayians’ blood on his hand and Bardock had made such an impact on Friezas outlook on them that it stuck with him all the way until he recognized Goku as his offspring, plus the underlying realization that Goku is Goku not Kakarot and even after the monologue which would’ve been enough to collapse most he stood in the face of a murderous imperialistic maniac and claimed to not care is the cherry on top.

Good times. When Goku was still serious about making villains pay for their evil acts instead of only caring about how strong they are, as he is in Super. When Frieza, Galactic Emperor of the Planet Trade Organization, destroyed Planet Vegeta because he was worried about the Super Saiyan legend and a Saiyan rebellion instead of being ordered to destroy it by Beerus just because King Vegeta didn't give Beerus the most comfortable pillow. DBZ > DBS forever!
But Goku always cared about strength and power. They just made him more heroic in the dub for Z. But I do agree that Z is better than Super, though. just for different reasons.
Never even watched Super, not sure I want to. Saw a tiny bit of a film and Goku was killed by a laser and the whole story just seems to trample on the legacy of dragon ball z.
You have a false impression of Goku because the English dub of DBZ made him out to be an American superhero. DB Super is just how Goku always was. If he really cared about that, he would have killed Frieza on Namek.
@@MakingGainz Well you see, the part where Goku got injured by a laser was originated from DRAGON BALL Z RESURRECTION F. So if you gonna hate on it, you gonna hate on DBZ. It was a DBZ movie that made SSB goku fall to a laser…. DBS at least corrected it to base goku instead of SSB. DBZ trampled on their own story…DBS own story really starts with the U6 arc.
Bardock actually is the reason why Goku has such a serious attitude when facing a battle. I really would like to see Goku fight Bardock as a father versus son battle on whose skills are better. Although Goku may have the edge from so many battles, Bardock actually faced challenges against stronger opponents and came out on top so them having even power and everything it can go either way
@@kiggss yeah which is why I mentioned they should have equal power levels when that happens. I love Goku as my #1 DB character but put OG Bardock into it then I am unsure on who to favor. I just want to see the two warriors go against each other and they’ll enjoy it more than anything else to bond as father and son
if bardock only would've realised how much his son kakarot has achieved over the decades and the one who killed frieza to avenge the planet vegeta, he would be proud to have his son accomplish such a feat
Yeah. I'm sure he would. Bardock would also be proud that his son Kakarot AKA Goku was the first Saiyan to become a Saiyan God AND to achieve and master a godlike power like Ultra Instinct. ❤ I still find incredibly impressive that the son of a lower class Saiyan warrior was almost always the first Saiyan to open the door for Saiyans to have all new powers, rather than the son of the king of all Saiyans. 💖

@@c.galindo9639 For the us (English dub) we got the frieza fight before Father of Goku. In the anime we don't see bardock attacking friezas men, it only shows the end where Bardocks attacks frieza with frieza's men standing behind him. The funimation cast likely not seeing father of Goku before hand saw all of those men behind bardock and assumed they were with him. They didn't have the full context. If u took someone that never saw DBZ and showed them this scene they'd assume those men were with bardock
@@j_quan2594 no just no. The manga came before any animation was even done. It wouldn’t make sense for animators to know before the creator about Bardock. No way they will know who he was before Akira Toriyama. Your logic is flawed big time on that part. Also no one would assume anyone was siding with Bardock as none are Saiyans as well as they are scared of Frieza so still seem obedient. Even when I saw it as a kid I knew Bardock was the only rebellious one but it would fit his character saying Frieza has no control over anyone even though he is doing it for the Saiyans it would fit that him going against Frieza would be a rebellion for those under him. He definitely would say something like what was said here, in the moment
Bro Frieza is no joke, he really was powerful af compared to almost everyone in the universe. Seeing someone make a ball of energy that huge, fast, and powerful is rare af. He’s the only mortal that’s insanely strong to where no other mortal could challenge him with their naturally given strength besides majin buu who was trapped in the ball, and I say naturally because the Saiyans have to train to reach the levels frieza and majin buu were already born with

Yes, this should happen. While I appreciate that they tried to make the whole Frieza blowing up Planet Vegeta thing dramatic and sad, the real story surrounding it, Bardock, and Goku is far better and actually fits with what Roshi told Goku in the beginning of Z (regarding him being found in the pod as a naked, unruly baby, not a fully armored and well-behaved toddler).
@@willfanofmanyii3751 There are pictures of Grandpa Gohan finding a naked baby Goku in the space pod in both the manga and the anime.
