First heard this song when in the Navy stationed in the Philippines in 1970. Blew me away. Love the Animals but this rendition by Frigid Pink defiantly my favorite.
Just a few days for the celebration of the "life" of an splendid voice and style of singing... it was just his.RIP Actually the whole album was fantastic...
This version burns like a raging fire. How could they do such a great cover of this song. Then nothing else. Well all these years later and it still burns.
How could this cover still be so obscure? This should be the most well known version over The Animals version. This one rocks! It's always been my fave too!
Thia version would be even darker if they didn't omit the second to last verse: With one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I'm going back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain
One of my favorite songs in grade school. Was blown away by the guitar work and that badass clear voice. Never understood why Frigid Pink never made it bigger- they should have!!!👍👍🎸🥁🎼❤️
A Psychedelic version of The House Of The Rising Sun. Very intense and electrified sounding song. But these guys did justice to this song because they knocked it out of the ball park.
=^.^= guessing coke for the bassest, he's just hella happy to be there some hella good weed for the lead, totally chill and acid for vocals... free love man... drummer I cant get a good enough look... but it's not like they need anything to be crazy xD although, this seems to be a dub to the video, cuz we are missing a rhythm guitar player
Nobody did the House of the Rising Sun like Frigid Pink I can remember listening to them when I was growing up living in Michigan guess I’m telling my age what an underrated band.
Some time in the early 70s my older brother bought a box of 8-tracks from a guy he worked with, when I was about 14. There was one from a group called Frijid Pink. The only song I recognized was a song with the same name as an Animals song so I thought I would give it a try. To this day it's, to me, the very best version and is on my play list on my phone.
I remember being totally psyched to share this "really heavy band from MI" with my folks...as soon as I pressed play (it was CD) my dad says "oh! Frijid Pink! I saw them at the Jackson Highschool auditorium!" 🤘😁✌️
Maybe 10 years ago I saw a video of Lightnin Hopkins sitting down and playing a wah. He didn’t even need to think about playing it was automatic, so he could focus his full undivided attention on the wah modulation, and he made it sound just like a rolling river. Completely hallucinatory. I’ve never found the video again, but occasionally I remember it and look for it
Frijid Pink - House of the Rising Sun 1610pm 1.8.23 yeah mudhoney's proto set-up: green river must have decided to emulate and progress with the idea of emulating frijid park...
@@quentinmichel7581 Song is fantastic to this date. Too bad today's artist cannot even compete with the golden era of Rock/Blues/Metal. Keep on living my friend! Enjoy what these artists have left us.
@@Scorpion54092 that's kind of why I really enjoy watching all these reaction videos I really have a blast when today's Young people see these bands and say "how the hell did I not know about this?" I just smile sagely 😁
@@quentinmichel7581 Exactly, kids today don't know what their missing. Back then Music was about passion, now it's all about money that's why people don't feel the same emotions as they did 30+ years ago. Music was about passion back then instead of the money and the popularity. I, myself also get a warm feeling when I watch kids in their teens/twenties experience what we've experienced. I wish music would go back to what it was back then. The technology has advanced so much they could even be superior than what it was back then if they had the heart to do so. Stop chasing dollars and make music with passion and heart. :)
Since I was in grade school/Jr. High.... this version of this great song has and always will be the best version of The House of the Rising Sun. It brings back SO many great memories! The Pinkest of the Frost!! Frijid Pink
This is the ultimate psychadelic tune from that era for me. First heard it on a tiny sounding am radio and it knocked me out then. It is a joy to hear this sonic masterpiece through a decent speaker system. Childhood dreams do come true sometimes.
Brilliantly loud in person, second only to Blue Cheer who have the record for most blown teen eardrums in the 60's, lol. Dig this cats guitar work, the psychedelic edge over the Animals original version, this one kicks ass for sure. Saw them twice LIVE! and yes, still have most of my herring today...'WHAT!?"
That's saying somethin' if they are 2nd to Blue Cheer. They held the record for me till years later AC/DC was so loud my ear drums were distorting. It's no good if you can't understand the music because it is to loud.
@David B2431 I saw early Kansas in Charlotte and for me that was my only uncomfortable volume concert. Not to say there has not been a few loud ones. 😉
Without question, this is the best version! I love Eric Burdon and the Animals music, yet Frijid Pink owns this song. Nicole, your Dad truly sang it best. The passion, the delivery, the voice - best ever!
+Nicole Beaudry , I remember hangin out in a friends basement in Allen Park , wish i could remember the name russ maybe ? , but they had some unique memorabilia and if i remember were related to someone , wonder if u know who ? thanks
I remember hearing this on the radio growing up. I was 15 when this was released. I had forgotten about this version until I stumbled across it recently. Loved it, still do. Very rocking version of this song. Fit in perfectly back then.
I remember watching the movie, Remember the Titans, quite a while back with a crowd of teens in the house. When this song came on during one scene, I nailed the title and band on the first note. The kids were amazed that I could do it, since they had never heard of it.
I'm 67 years young and remember this song back in the early 70s. Such a great version of this classic tune. I've always enjoyed the Animal's version, but this one is my favorite. And also the rest of the Frijid Pink titled album is really awesome. Check out Drivin Blues 🎸
When we used to get totally drunk and stoned in college in the 70's, this epic song was what we closed the night down with... best song cranked at high volumes...
GOD BLESS, robabywhere, the honesty is awesome.... both you and this awsome version of a raw song. Those where the days. So glad you survived, as has so many others that can remember the power of the music of this era.... carry on dude....🖤
@@gianfaustotignonsini4635 I forget his name but it's out there if you Google it. He died some years ago and sadly this original singer too... Tom Beaudry aka 'Kelly Green'. RIP to both ⚘⚘🕊🕊🤧🤧
Heavier and more psychedelic version than those that preceded it because that is where rock music had moved to at that stage. The Animals' version was considered pretty heavy when it came out. Music in many ways is a time capsule.
Seems like every cover of this song tries to play slow with just powerful vocals. But none try to make it badass and hard rockin like this. Not just the vocals are powerful, but that kickin beat, and that ripping distortion of a lead guitar.
Ebenezer is THE BEST name in the world!...but I digress... I also have just stumbled over this version recently and have fallen in love (tho feel like I'm betraying the Animals) FP has such a raw and aching sound in voice and guitar. Still love the Animals no doubt, but the FP version hurts my gut and makes me cry.
That's TOM HARRIS, Original Bass Guitar with Frijid Pink. His sister Judy Harris was Band Manager (my dear friend) and handled all their Fan mail, T-Shirt sales, Record sales. Her husband was Tour Manager. Frijid Pink toured Europe and Australia where they were smash hits!!!
ajaxthegreatful, back in 69 it was considered hard rock... A liter version was required...still there were a lot like me that preferred this version. They were just to early with the style to be a hit then...Frijid Pink never got the creds they deserved....they were great.
I was driving home from college classes when I first this on the radio. I can remember that drive like it was yesterday. Heart pounding, electrifying, stunning.
Oh yes!!! Another great Detroit Michigan band. They took this tune to a whole new level. Do yourself a favor and listen to Boozin Blues off same album.
Best version ever.I'm 65 years old and remember this from Many, many, years back.brings back a lot of memories.that's saying a lot for a dead head like me.
some may say.. I am old fashioned listening to this heavyweight.but I can't ignore the vocal and especially the guitar...fully charged with psychedelic vibes
