Fishing a frog to catch bass is one of the best ways to catch them! Check out the basics here in this video and make sure you know what is going on. Frogs: spro.com/colle... Frog Rod: cashionrods.co... #bassfishing #frogfishing #topwater
A few years ago I was fishing Loughborough Lake in Ontario. I was using a Spro frog in the slop. I saw a real frog sitting on a rock. I told my friend Bill watch this as I worked the Spro frog by the rock. WHOOSH Mr frog was love struck and pounced my frog. The rest is X rated so I will stop there. But he must have thought it was the real deal.
Everyone I have heard talk about frog baits says the various colors mimic shad, sunfish, or some other kind of struggling or feeding baitfish. I just wonder if bass just recognize them as FROGS. They eat frogs, so why not just say they mimic a live frog? The same can be said about plastic worms. Real worms find their way into water one way or another. A bird might drop one, and it will flutter and wiggle as it slowly sinks. Bass likely don’t recognize plastic worms as a fish, but as a WORM (or its relative leech). When I look at a D-Bomb or Baby D-Bomb, I think leech. I don’t think bluegill. What do you and others think? Rafa
@@JohnCrews - Thanks. That is exactly my point. Bass don’t just key in on fish (bluegill, shad, etc.), they key in on a variety of organisms that might make a meal. Everyone saying a white frog looks like a shad just doesn’t make complete sense, especially when so many bodies of water don’t have shad. Yet bass will destroy white frogs in those places.
Why use a frog shaped bait to imitate other forage? The 3 primary colors mentioned were black, white or shad, and brim. Do you not use greens and browns that look like an actual frog?
Great vid! Beginner at frogging so not sure I am ready to invest $200+ on a frog rod. But that Cashion rod looks sweet. What else can it throw? Is it versatile or pretty much specialized just for frogs? I’ve had a lot of blowups with no hookups using a Medium baitcaster. Clearly underpowered.
If it’s matted I’ll use a frog if it’s open water popper all day way easier to hook a fish pop max best popper out there if you fish it fast and furious they will bite popping frog way better than a regular I’ve missed 2 monster bass this year on a scum frog white hart breaking should have had a pop Max can’t miss
@@DavidBronstein1961 I’ve only used it for frogging but it would probably be good for any kind of flipping/jig/Texas rig up to 3/4oz. The tip is sensitive and you can really cast a frog well.
grew up bombing a Snagproof frog on a medium action spinning rod. Finally got a frog rod after getting back into fishing last year and I get why i hardly ever hooked up when I was younger.
