must have learned that skill from those anarchist squirrels that routinely take down the power grid of small rural communities with their bushy tailed shenanigans
Adam Lyons i got to check if that was real... it was and there are a lot of selfie tutorials videos related to the search results. That scared me the most
7:08 It's even funnier because the snake abruptly changes its species when the camera zooms in. At first it's an Eastern diamondback rattlesnake, then in the close-up it's shapeshifted into a cottonmouth. Those don't even have rattles!
did not realize that snake venom contained such potent bio polymerization enzymes...i'll have to be more careful while taunting them in the woods in the future
I was hopping with joy when I saw this video in my notifications. This review was positively ribbeting. If you toad me that there was a killer frog movie I wouldn't believe you at first. Now that I know it exists it's something that doesn't bug me anymore. Makes me ponder why there are no more killer frog movies. Maybe the concept isn't just as croaked up to be.
This film used to air on local television as part of a "nature attacks trilogy" with Frogs, The Food Of The Gods and Empire Of The Ants. Despite its goofy premise, the film certainly has a creepy vibe and some really creative cinematography. Love the swamp mist in the trees. Thanks for giving Frogs a good spotlight episode.
Elliott was clean shaven for his recurring role as the villainous Avery Markham on Justified. I couldn't get use to seeing him without his 'stache. It was disconcerting.
Jeffrey Anderson you are right, I'm pretty sure 95% of the amphibians shown were actual cane toads and not bullfrogs. They did probably cause some damage to the local ecosystem by introducing that invasive species there...
This is BEST breakdown/review of this awesomely bad movie!!! I was having a relatively bad panic attack, crying and shaking and trying to distract myself. Within minutes I was shaking with laughter 🤣🤣🤣 I love this terrible movie and I really love your dissection of it. Thank you for pulling me out of my anxiety spiral.
The 70's were the golden age of killer animal/monster movies: Jaws, Piranha, Kingdom of the Spiders, Empire of the Ants, Squirm, Orca, Grizzly, Barracuda... Just about every species was used for a movie. There's even a movie about giant killer rabbits (Night of The Lepus).
Someone probably said it already, but the "frogs" in this movie seem be almost entirely cane toads. Also, while that is a rattlesnake at 7:09, that's a cottonmouth at 7:13. I'm pretty sure it has it's fangs, but vipers have folding fangs sheathed in the gum so you can't really see them unless they're actually going to bite.
Danewon Nice catch. I had to watch it again because I didn’t know what the hell you were talking about. We were talking about Cube, though. It’s a recurring joke.
I've always loved these natural horror films, where nature bites back, like Jaws, The Birds, Prophecy, Crawl, Arachnophobia, Jurassic Park, and other films, too.
nothing says overindulgent privilege like a drunken pillow fight on the front lawn of the estate the borders a swamp infested with killer frogs shaped like toads
In the beginning, to me it almost sounded like the main character had stumbled into some sort of elite sex ring/cult! Seriously, if you watch those scenes with that in mind as a possibility what the characters say takes on a whole new meaning. ;)
I watched this film in the theater when it was first released. I waited the whole movie to see a hand hanging out of a frog's mouth. And what did I get? "Pounced to death". I was not amused.
Thanks for response on my friends request of "Near Dark (1987), I would like to suggest a newer movie i just saw in the theatre ( I must have been one of like 10,000 people in America) called "Knife + Heart (2019)". It's a French Giallo movie about a serial killer in 1970's Paris who is murdering actors in the Gay cinema production world.
You're finally talking about Frogs?! I first saw Frogs on Netflix with my family and we thought it was hilarious. I saw it on DVD at a thrift store and had to get it.
The actress who played Karen, Joan Van Ark very often cited Forgs as her career rock bottom. She often joked about it being so horrible and absurd that it was borderlind funny.
I'm just annoyed that most of the frogs are in fact Cane Toads. A super invasive species in North America and Australia. If any of them got loose during the filming...
Do people like you get off on coming to RU-vid videos and trying to portray yourself as some sort of biologist? I mean, it is a movie from the 1970s. No one cared then, and no one today is looking for a toad biology lesson in the RU-vid comments.
@@jamiebraswell5520I'm not sure which is worse about your comment: the anti-intellectualism, or the hypocrisy (IE: "Well, you certainly cared enough to comment!"). Though the effort to bring down the level of discourse certainly is a strong contender too.
I actually have a lot of found memories of watching this for free on a computer in my high school library. IMDB used to have a lot of free older movies circa 2007 back before it evolved into the website it is now. This being the only one that wasn't black and white on the site back then. I must've seen it at least three times in totality back then. I guess it was one way to keep myself occupied well eating pizza and skipping class nothing like a youth well wasted! man I must've been was a stranger kid then I remembered...🤔
Have you done "Night of the Lepus"? TWO Enterprise doctors from The Original Series versus killer giant rabbits. And a real guilty pleasure cult classic!
In a horror movie called "Frogs" watch victims die from things like Spiders Poison Snakes Alligators Snakes again Crabs And finally... FROGS! (But most likely it was just a heart attack) *BEWARE THE FROGS!!!*
I loved this movie as a kid, I always had the creeps for reptiles, frogs, etc. So this movie fascinated me. I remember one scene that marked me is the one with the old lady dropping or fainting and being covered up by frogs, snakes and the snakes biting her hand. Really creepy. As always superb job! Love you Cecil!!
ive been recovering from surgery & while i was i went through a marathon of all youre videos & that kept me entertained almost through, i have a lil while longer to deal with but i wanted to say thanks by mentioning 2 films that i think you might enjoy, 1st one is called caveman, its has ringo starr & a few others named actors, its good for a laugh & has not alot of "worded" dialog its still funny today its good fun, the 2nd is almost a an acid trip, its called the phantom toll booth, its suppose to be a kids film but after you see it you know someone was freaking high off their ass making this i think its from the 70s but i was born in the 80s & watched it as a kid up to now its a trip, anyways have fun, & thanks again for helping with recovery, peace
I actually remember watching this movie as a kid back when it appeared on television. At the time, I had no idea this was suppose to be a...."horror film" lol I was assuming it was maybe a thriller....with a few bits of comedy. But no, websites do state that this is suppose to be a "horror film." So in other words, we're suppose to take it seriously. And you know what, that makes it even funnier! I would say it's one of those "so bad but good movies," like Troll 2, but it's not. It's just a really bad movie. But a real enjoyable one lol
