One thing to be aware of is that the Australians, where the "Slim Hedge" techniques have been successful, use Plant Growth Regulators (PGR's) which is a hormone regulating chemical which keeps trees small and they also can use flower induction chemicals. Paclobutrazol is not permitted for Mango in USA and nitrate spraying for flower induction isn't effective in Florida. So don't expect the same results in our mangos as they get in Australia.

From my experience it won't work with some varieties. Lemon zest doesn't like to be short. I have a hedge of 3, rosigold Mallika and lemon zest. Lemon zest is the only one that refuses to bloom for me. I prune them all the same way every year. I'm going to be top working the lemon zest to a pickering very soon. Great job with your content 👍

I enjoyed your video and I love watching them. I was wodnering where you got a few of your trees as another South Florida native. Specifically the persimmons, the Indian or the sugarcane jujube, and the mangosteen. I'm in Broward County and can't find any nursery that have them near me.

Enjoyed your video. Amazing property. This may seem farfetch and or time consuming, but just a thought, those are some well matured trees. Wouldn't it be nice although once again time consuming to propagate some of those mango trees limbs, root them and share with friends and family instead of throwing a lot of years of hard work away. Last summer I propagated my 15 year old loquat tree,it rooted near the base of the tree and I passed that tree on to my niece. Just a thought not to take away from his beautiful idea.

I saw in the previous video that he had a few trees in the plants area touching the house... As the trees grow they will grow roots into the house and weaken it

He sounds like vietnamese! We grown them and gave them away! But we do eat mangoes,I used to have a very big garden Everything I grown I'm gave them away.

He could get a pickup truck with an 8’ bed, and then take it to a custom hydraulic shop and have a hydraulic dump-bed put on. They basically cut the original bed off, put a ram onto the frame and attach it to the original bed and put it back on. Its’s tricky to get the right size ram. If you want to lift one ton, you get a 4-6 ton ram. Lots of places you get to go in the commercial dump-truck lane at the dump. Saves hours and lots of work.

So mineral oil and baking soda for 98.8% of the mango deceases. Great to hear.

What was the natural pesticide you mumbled too fast. Mineral oil, almond mumble ? & baking soda?

Do you think this info will also apply to avocados? Do you know if anyone has tried to heavy prune only half of the tree one year and then heavy prune the other half in two years to maintain some production?

He needs to get a chipper so that he does not have to worry about filling up the yard waste bin. Also it will allow him to recover his nutrients in the form of mulch.

What part of Florida is that? Or what zone is he in, as certain mangos do better in certain zones.

hey I'm in west palm and this season I'm hoping to try out some awesome types of mangos that I've never had before, I find a ton already by me but where would you recommend I go to purchase a wide variety of mango types? I'd love to try orange sherbert, peach cobbler, etc

One way to dwarf a mango tree and produce more fruit is to girdle or cincture it.
