4:13 I meant to say on his older trees he is not using any water but on his newer trees he is. In error, I said newer trees he's not.
Very close to where I live in Lake Worth Florida I discovered a property with a bunch of fruit trees. After doing some research I found out it is the former home of Lawrence Zill. Lawrence is famous for creating many popular mango varieties we have today.
The current owner of the house Cecil has restored this property and added a good selection of new fruit trees and named the property Tropical Paradise Grove. Cecil sells many varieties of mangos that he grows on this 1.3-acre fruit farm.
You can contact Cecil to purchase mangos during mango season at:

Well as I see it, biblically speaking, if it's not in your yard it belongs to anyone, as long as they're only picking a few to eat.😊 Basically only what they can carry o in their hands. Similar to a tree I have on a rental property, where the branches hang over into the neighbors yard. Whatever they can pick and eat is theirs, which also makes good neighbors.

Great video Paul! Love Cecil's small farm and collection. His production is lacking for the quantity and age of his trees but I really can't be be sure if it's due to the proximity of the trees in regards to one another or just over pruning. Regardless, I love the concept. It really gives the average individual hope of producing a high abundance of fruit trees when dealing with limited property. Cecil was also dead wrong about those branches hanging over the easement. At that point they are truly for the public. This goes hand and hand with the same Florida law that excludes you from the liability of any tree limbs hanging over fence into neighboring property. I hope he doesn't over peruse individuals because this can lead to escalating conflict with the potential to land parties in court.

Fleck I think you hit it on the head. In order to keep trees separated on a higher density planting you do have to prune a lot and that can definitely affect productivity in the following year. In my own case since my 270 mango trees are a hobby and I sell zero fruit I have to prune the heck out of them and where I don’t prune is where fruit develops. So I get a little fruit on a lot of trees and I’m very happy with that.

I'm on a small residential lot and have a Cogshall and Carrie that are planted about 5 foot apart. Been in the ground for about 3 years (from 3 gallon). They are dwarf type breeds, but already 8 -10 foot and growing great together loaded with fruit.

I enjoyed the video and Cecil’s collection but I disagree with his definition of ultra high density and I also don’t understand why he topped his trees so high up. His trees are 1000% too far apart to be called ultra high density. Also, why top the tree so high and have to graft standing on a ladder. And Cecil is wrong about people picking fruit over a fence where the fruit is over a public easement. The public can pick that fruit and keep them in this situation. Same with the fruit overhanging your neighbors property. Yes the fruit is legally their’s to keep. But the guy is a really nice knowledgeable mango grower. Really enjoyed this tour and Paul’s way of interviewing. And I love the fact that this old guy is still doing all the hard work required year round that keeps his grove so perfectly clean and beautiful.

Hi High density was a section of his yard only. in that area the trees were only 6 1/2 feet apart. The other trees were there when he moved there a long time and already established.

@@FruitfulTrees yes you are correct in this reply but in the video you both used the term ultra high density repetitively not high density. Ultra high density in Israel can be 3 feet apart not 6.5 feet apart. 6-6.5 feet is high density not ultra high density. Look at what this guy explains in India who is doing the Israeli ultra high density technique. In Israel they plant over 1000 mango trees per acre. Now you have a great excuse to plant way more mango trees at your own house and to have 5 times more fun!!! Lastly since you don’t need a tractor to go down your rows you can even space your row with an ultra high density planting way way closer too. By me just the width of the lawnmower or 3 feet in most planted spots. And now with low chill blueberries you can even surround your mango trees with blueberry bushes!!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_yGQyVOq_U4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CPgtbzXDHzY.html

I am buying mango s from the stores in Florida, is there anyone on RU-vid that can tell us which mangos we are buying for the seasons we go through, Last mango I bought were great with lots of flavor, Now it seems the mango have changed and they are really not flavorable at all, Not knowing the shapes of each type , I do not know which is which, and they are pretty expensive, the colors seem to be about the same. Bring em home and let them ripe for a few days to a week. I never know what the next batch at the store is going to be..I am wishing someone could give us a hint..they don't come with names of the mango.. Just says ;mango, but they are not the same as the last ones...I would like to know what I am buying when they change seasons.. thanks..at least a hint,, early season, mid season, or late,, something to give us a hint of which mango is at the stores..I will be leary of buying again, because these were not good..April-May types.

@@weiss613 way too close to each other, absolutely his fault,Mango trees are not Coconut palms ,they produce mangos on the arms not the neck ...high density is only proven to be great on hardcore commercial varieties like Tommy Atkins ,I would cut 50% of all trees and start again 10 feet apart .
@weiss613
@weiss613 3 года назад
@@MangoAficionado you are not taking into consideration anything other than productivity. There are many other considerations ranked by how important they are to the private grower like Cecil who doesnt really make growing the most mangoes he can grow as his primary objective in his collection. Perhaps he also doesn’t really give a crap about the almighty dollar and how much money he can take in. Perhaps he looks so damn good because he loves all the hard work it takes to control all those extra trees. So hopefully you learned here to take a broader view of another man’s “hobby” and not his primary business.
