Do you know all the modifiers that can make shelling do more damage? Here I review them one by one starting from nothing by a wide 8 gunlance to everything you can do and in which circumstances you can do more damage buffing your weapon.
As a note, I haven't included waterblight that is another source but is rare enough to skip.

It's actually insane after all the buffs they gave to gunlance they never once did anything to incentivize using charged shelling.

Nice breakdown! I always forget Frostcraft works with GL shelling now, but just isn’t that great because of how you don’t really want to sheathe with Gunlance. I want to eventually find a usecase for it and build around it but we’ll see (maybe a sleep bomber WF build?) As for the Amatsu Gunlance, it has been my default GL to use with Wyrmstake Spam because is has super long sharpness (and in combination with Heaven Sent i don’t need to sharpen and I’m always at purple or white) and high raw (negative affinity isn’t too much of a consideration because the only melee attack you’re doing is the poke before the wyrmstake comes out. Silkbind boost is a nice bonus but tbh not *the* reason I use it, since it doing add too much to guard edge and ground splitter (the main silkbinds i use)

fun fact amatsu gunlance also buffs shells used in the air cause they are considered silk damage.

That's is new for me, thanks for telling. It shouldn't work since they aren't silkbind or even a switch skill. I wonder if there is more stuff buffed by it now.

6:24 a bit of correction here, the only monsters that cant be exploited with anti species deco is Gaismagorm and both of Rakna khadaki, you can use anti flying for other elder bc theres no grounded elder in MHRS, all of them has wings or just fly. Still a great video tho, keep it up

I like charged shells so much (thematically) that i run it just to go for tail cuts with fast wyrmstake.

sir can you please answer does the fire damage affect shelling that much? i'm using a crunchypopper with wide 8, sneak3. artillery3, frostcraft3, bombadier3, antiwyvern but still can't hit that 310 only 287

Against what monster are you trying? Not all monsters have the same enrage modifier, I picked hermitaur because has a very high one to use as the demonstration. Are also using an aquatic exploit decoration if you are fighting the crab? About fire numbers, it is on the low side except for long gunlance.
