The "Ole Man" abandoned this 1987 Ford F150 years ago. I will attempt to crank it again and drive it mile back to our home. We will fix one or fifty issues to present it to my son as his FIRST TRUCK. Will that valve knock stop the project? Will horrible drive-ability stop the progress? Will we ever restore the power and look that this truck once had? Can the Rev and the Ole Man bring this Ford back to the road to give to JC for his 16th Birthday? All these questions answered on this episode of RevStoration.

That smile looked like the one on my son's face when I helped him with his first truck. His truck to sat for many years and with some tinkering we brought it back to life. He's still driving it today. Yes I did shed a few tears, I was one proud Dad.

When I was 21 I bought a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 two door hardtop. It was a one owner with 46,000 miles. I had always wanted the 67 Ford because that’s what my parents had when I was a little boy. I went to school one day and when I came home my dad had my Galaxie in the garage and had it all cleaned up & polished. It looked like a diamond. You can’t underestimate what it means to do things for your kids. My dad is no longer here and that memory means everything to me. God Bless.

My brothers first truck in 2001 was a 87 f150 xlt Lariat and we had it up until the last couple years. I miss driving the old beast. I hope your son enjoys his truck!

Back in 2016 I bought an ‘89 Lincoln town car, gutless and didn’t want to downshift. Owner dumped it cheap, said the engine was tired. Turns out nothing wrong with it, except the throttle body linkage didn’t have proper travel, a separate issue, and the kick down cable for the trans was loose. The plastic spacer for it was broken. Once I made proper shims and set the cable properly, along with setting up the throttle travel correctly, ran like a brand new car. I’d check the kick down cable, that would sure make it lazy if it isn’t set up correctly. Great videos btw. Thx!

How about cleaning the O2 sensor by the starter?It's been rusting for 15+ years.A can of 'Seafoam' in the tank will help clean the old carbon off the valves,etc.and help clean the intake runners too.Happy Birthday to JC.,and congratulations on your new truck.The blue mentioned with white down the sides,like whatever color is there,will really look nice for years to come.The roof white will keep the cab cooler too.

I just changed the TPS on my 88 f250. It had a high smooth idle with no guts when in gear. The new TPS fixed it right up. Love the channel, keep'em coming!

Hey rev I noticed you said his indicator on the dash was off. I don't know if you noticed it or not but the indicator cable has a screw and it's tension is adjustable right there on the column. I enjoyed the video very much I've been building a 1991 f150 for the past few months.

Hey Rev, Run the codes on it and make sure the jumper is in that gets the timing to be set by the computer, it also wouldn't hurt to pull the computer and take the back off of it and make sure there are no bad capacitors in it

Oh, one more thing to inspect. If the left side cylinder head still has the spark plug heat shield attached to the exhaust manifold there might be a possibility that the spark plug boots on cylinders 5 through 8 are shorting out to the heat shield. You can look for a spark jump at night with the truck lights off and the hood open, look for electrical arcs jumping from the spark plug boots to the heat shield especially at cylinders 5,6, and 7.

The TFI module also commands the coil to fire off to supply voltage to each spark plug wire-and spark plug during dist. rotation,a ask me how I know, lol. Keep at it don't lose faith you'all will figure it out.

Rev, I completely rebuilt my '79 302 with E7 heads from a 1987 mustang GT, new rings, new Eagle crankshaft, bigger camshaft and new lifters. I still have the 2 barrel carburetor on it while I'm breaking in the new parts. Took me 4 months to do. But it runs so good and even has a little bit of a lope. Just a story to tell JC about starting a project and how good it feels to finish it with wonderful results!

My grandpa had one that was that exact same color same year but had a 351 Cleveland motor my grandpa bought straight off the ford dealership in 87 his was also a extended cab dual gas tanks, seeing that truck yall found brought back many memories sadly my grandpa passed on in 1995

You know as well as I do just because that truck is 20 years newer that doesn’t mean it’ll be more dependable than a older truck. The worst junk I ever owned was a 07 model. Edit. It was 2008 when I owned it. It didn’t have 30,000 miles on it. I’ve never had one leave me stranded so many times.

I'm so happy that you all were able to keep the F150 in the same family. In my opinion I would leave the paint scheme exactly like it is now. I kept my white with blue mid-section paint intact and alone. But it's your son's truck so the paint color will be his decision.

I've inherited my dads 1990 F250 XLT with the 5.0 with under 100K that is in good condition and very solid after he passed about 5 years ago. Been trying keep it running (stays at my moms house in the country) and maintain it when I can. My young boys love riding in the back of course down country roads, hopefully someday they will own this in about 30 years when they can appreciate it that it was their grandfathers who bought brand new off the showroom floor in 89' in Farmington Hills, MI but the vehicle spent 31/32 years in TN. Love seeing pressure wash videos!! Though I commend your effort and work and glad you have the time and patience to replace part after part after part on a vehicle that has sat for years. Obviously buying a used Accord or Toyota truck would have been much simpler and cost efficient but you don't get to spend your time with your son on this project where there is no monetary value on that. Hope it all turned out in the end and he is still driving it. :-}

I got a 1991 ford f150 with the 5.0l. That pickup has been in my family for about 20years now. I still drive it to this day even if it has over 250k miles

Also the most command problem with that engine is gonna be the EGR and oil pump
