In this video, we are in conversation with Mridul, who shares his journey in clearing his CA final exams with an all India rank of 27, completing his CFA and then finally cracking the CAT exam and now studying at IIM Ahmedabad. He answers questions that students frequently ask and offers his experience as guidance.
Mridul attributes his success in Chartered Accountancy to his passion for subjects like Finance, Audit, etc. He tells us how he wasn't someone who scored high marks in school. He took up CA because he enjoyed studying the various subjects they taught in Integrated coaching, which he took in his 12th standard. Mridul's transition from a student who didn't score well in school to someone who cleared CA final exams with an all India rank of 27 is very motivating.
He attributes this transition to the fact that he focused on learning and understanding different concepts. As a student, Mridul did not fixate on the numerical grades that he earned instead, he focused upon the takeaways from the subject. He paid attention to his strengths and weaknesses and made sure that he studied in a way that complimented them.
Along with Chartered Accountancy, he also took up CFA ( Chartered Financial Analyst) and passed it with flying colours in his first attempt. So the question we all want to be answered is “Why do MBA after becoming a CA and CFA?” While giving his reasons and advantages of pursuing MBA after CA and CFA, Mridul points out how this would grant him access to multiple high salaried jobs, and allow him to present himself as a complete package to the hiring companies. He also added how doing an MBA after CA and CFA gave him the opportunity to experience college life.
Mridul cleared the CAT exam in his second attempt after working for 2.5 years in november 2020. He is now pursuing his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, one of the top schools in India.He is glad that he is a CA, because it makes the concepts easier to understand and apply. Most of us who appear and clear the CA exams successfully come from humble backgrounds and usually can not afford to pay 20-25 lakh fees upfront. Mridul shares his experience in how anyone is funding his MBA by taking out an education loan. He points out how it is very easy to get education loans for MBA in India at cheap Interest rates.
Towards the end of the video, Mridul shares his unique insight on Success in CA exams and urges the students to not give up and study committedly for all exams. He says it's natural to fail and to feel like you won’t be able to do it, but to keep trying and keep your eyes on the goal and maximise the resources you have access to . Adding to this, Mridul advises his friends appearing for CA exams to enjoy life as it comes, nurture relationships and friendships that they form, because you will remember them for life.
