Akshat says that skills can be classified into two categories, EVERGREEN SKILLS and skills that become relevant as the need of the hour.
Evergreen skills are those skills that were relevant 50 years ago and will continue to be relevant in the future. COMMUNICATION SKILLS fall under the category of evergreen skills and thus are of immense importance.
Skills that evolve with the changing nature of the world are also crucial. For instance, the attention span of humans is rapidly decreasing nowadays and some research says that soon the
ATTENTION SPAN OF HUMANS is less than ATTENTION SPAN OF A GOLDFISH
Today there is a huge overflow of data everywhere. The ability to absorb & filter the data and the ability to concentrate is becoming relevant day by day.
He says that ABILITY TO LEARN IS VERY IMPORTANT as career paths are very dynamic and people often change their career paths.
When asked about how he started his PROFESSIONAL CAREER he says that his first experience was as an INTERN at the Ministry of Rural Development. They were impressed by his sincerity towards work and hence decided to shift him to a private team. After working for few years there, he joined BCG for few months.
According to him, the factors which differentiate one candidate from the other is the WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS one possesses. So, we should focus on how we can stand apart from others.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ORDINARY AND EXTRAORDINARY IS A BIT EXTRA!
Talking about his experience of working in government ministry he says that there has been much improvement in the way government functions. Nowadays the governance structure is designed in a way that OFFERS AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH.
Some people from the private sector also work with the government for few years. This is known as LATERAL ENTRY. He says that working under government ministry gives an incredible opportunity to CREATE IMPACT.
Akshat values his experiences a lot and hence he decided to pursue MBA from ABROAD as he thought that it would be a one-of-a-kind experience for him. He deliberately tried to pursue different kinds of things so he could gain a variety of learnings.
While doing his MBA he got to work with people from 75+ countries which contributed to his overall personality development.
He founded CASES OVER COFFEE, a management consulting preparation platform that helps students who want to join companies like BCG, Bain, McKinsey prepare for business case studies. Cases Over Coffee teaches how to solve complex business problems and develop critical thinking skills.
They also have global fellowship programs for which they’ve collaborated with a bunch of Canadian, USA, UN companies.
Akshat says that he loves to write and that’s how he started LinkedIn. Eventually, many students reached out to him for admission related queries. He’s helping students for the last 6 years, and today he is one of the leading admission consultants.
RU-vid is something he enjoys doing a lot and has gained amazing support from everyone. He says that he is not aware of the RU-vid analytics and his only concern is CREATING GOOD CONTENT.
He has done a lot of high impacts and pressure-oriented work and is very used to do work that has a deadline attached to it.
HE FOCUSES ON QUALITY AND TALKS ABOUT THINGS HE IS GOOD AT. Finance is one of the topics of his interest. He also believes in INVESTING.
BUT HE DOES NOT REGRET STARTING HIS INVESTMENT JOURNEY AT 30 as he was into various other things in his 20s.
