Like a lot of these videos I’m a bit late, but I rewatched this video this evening, and realised I had a couple of cheap spanners in the garage after all, so I went in there (my hideaway!) and modified the 13mm ring. Not entirely successful, but I usually have to ‘have a go’ once so that I can more fully understand the instructions! It’s working, it needs fine tuning but it’s working. If it goes well I might manage with the 13mm, but I have a 14mm in case I need to reset the project. Thanks Felix, you’re a gem! Les in UK 🇬🇧

Felix, I have a new trick for you! The metal push pin in the + scales. I was trying to do some wiring on my cars, and needed to know which wire was live (+12V). Well, I could have stripped a portion of the wire to test it with a meter, but the newly exposed wire could short against the frame, or corrode with water damage. Instead, I remembered a trick: push the oush pin into the wire, like a vaccine needle in the arm. Once the tip is (probably) making contact with the copper wire, you can use a voltmeter to test the wire!

Thanks again for one more inspiring idea on video. Being a steel guy, I like to suggest some ideas to improve the tool. You could also start with a straight double ring wrench acc. to DIN 837 B / ISO 3318. Then one wrench might be good for two carving tools of different size. Also, you can bend the ring to the desired angel after heating the bending spot until it's glowing bright red. Heating the ring to the same glowing color for 10 minutes in charcoal fire in your grille and letting it cool down slowly will soften the steel and make the file work easier. When your done with coarse sharpening, just heat it up again to red glow and quench it in cold water to harden the steel. With some luck you reach 55 HRC with allows higher sharpness and better edge retention. Don't do the heat treatment with a soldering torch or other blue flame to avoid decarbonization of the outer steel layers.

What about new/cheaper wrenches? I don't know how it is in Europe, but in the U.S.A. most modern wrenches seem to be cheap Chinese steel that is drop forged, with a rough/crackly finish on the outside. Are those crappy wrenches good enough to use?
