Just had my first ambrosia apple down in Georgia i instantly had to look it up and find out where such a delicious apple came from boy am I glad that seedling survived
Found them last year and they are one of my three favorite apples. I used to think Honeycrisp were the best until I found Ambrosia! If I can't get Ambrosia, I go with Envy or Fuji.
This is a fantastic story about the efforts of wonderful farming family who are a testament to what thoughtful resourceful and enthusiasm people can achieve in life. congratulations to you all Gary Chapman Australia
By chance I picked up Ambrosia apples at Sprout Farmer Market and was so happy to find that it is very good in taste, texture and juiciness, one more apple to enjoy besides Honeycrisp.
I have a couple trees here planted in my backyard in NE Ohio. They are doing well after a short time in the ground and must like our clay and shale soil! Ohio is known for apples as well and we look forward to enjoying them down the road! Cheers!
Ate my 1st one today way down yonder in the Florida Keys. It was room temperature but very tasty. The rest are in the refrigerator and will become a regular whenever the store has them in stock.
Below is the only way I ever eat apples because I don't really like them that much but 2 Honey Crisp apples with some sharp cheese and crackers with Guldens' spicey mustard and a glass of chardonnay or chablis is my favorite lunch. But I am flexible on the variety of apple and the brand of crackers. I also seldom drink wine or eat cheddar cheese without the other 2 parts of my 3 piece ensemble. I always slice the apples into thin sections before I begin. This is my lunch 2-3 times a week. Or sometimes I eat this for dinner. It surprises me sometimes how much the taste of one fruit or vegetable can be enhanced by what other things you eat them with. I usually buy 3 pound bags at the local supermarket which are less expensive than buying individual apples. I always eat the skin of apples, which is another reason I cut them into very thin slices. Just bot Ambrosia apple tree from Home Depot. My local nurseries doesn’t have this variety. Hope it will be real Ambrosia few years later, not something also, just like they selling tulips on tag, daffodils in pot. At least you can recognize flowers which is which. Apple you paid $74, wait years with hope it will be true.
There is no other apple down at my supermarket that is as crunchy as the Ambrosia. I don't like the soft texture that most apples have. Not even the red n delicious, most of those are soft at my local market. But the funny thing is, not only is it the crunchiest, but it's also the sweetest apple I've had the pleasure of consuming. A 2 for 1 that I was looking for.
I can’t find regular Ambrosia apples this past year. I can only find “Ambrosia Gold,” which are similar but are a little too sweet and not as crisp. Any clue if it’s just regional or if Ambrosia isn’t around anymore?
Don't worry, the Ambrosia apple is still around. We grow the Ambrosia in our orchard and they aren't going out at anytime soon. Could be in your area, the local supplier just doesn't have access to it, or switched varieties.
Thank you for the information I used to live in Washington near Wenatchee. where they grow alot of the apples. Washington delicious I'm wondering how you would compare the flavor of ambrosia is there any other Apple after on market that kind of sort of similar. And again I love to try it maybe I will maybe I'll find him somewhere.
Depends on which pollen the tree was pollinated with. If you bought one from a store, it's highly likely the fruit was pollinated from the same variety. Therefore, from its seed, it should produce the same variety.
I'm peculiar about my I love apples but I have to find the perfect wave eat one.
