Kevin Harvick steps out of the driver’s seat and into the Bojangles Studio to join Dale Earnhardt Jr. on this episode of the Download. Fresh off his last start as a full-time Cup competitor, Kevin returns to the show to discuss his retirement weekend with Dale and co-host Mike Davis. Although he’s developed a reputation for being a stern personality, Kevin explains the overwhelming emotion he felt throughout the race weekend in Phoenix. They also chat about the things that Kevin thought he would miss about being behind the wheel and some of the advice he received from fellow retirees.
While he may be absent from the starting grid next year, Kevin will still be a prominent member of the sport both as a broadcaster, a racing dad, and a series owner. Dale and Kevin examine the transition from racer to commentator and what to look forward to in the Fox Sports booth next year. Kevin also highlights ways he hopes to impart knowledge to up-and-coming drivers through Kevin Harvick Inc. Management and being a car and series owner for the CARS Tour.
Finally, Kevin touches on prepping his son Keelan for a long racing career to help continue the Harvick racing legacy, which has spanned the last 30 years.

Go Harvick!!! Your path is guided by the right spirit. 5:41 "How do I make sure that I give back enough to help the next generation of people that are coming along" Ideal. The fact that so many drivers have stepped out of the cars yet are staying heavily involved in the sport to help improve it says volumes about these guys. Mega cudos for staying involved and not just walking away. I know some drivers have and that is 100% ok. They have their reasons but we have so many who are staying involved.

I'd like to thank you , Kevin for putting the number I identify with into the list of championship. The number four was buried in the Morgan-Mcclure bog with no way to reach it. I grew up having the number four in every sport I tried out for (yes, I had asked for it later, but it was Little League, Pop Warner, running, whatever, from the start) I was really glad to have a known driver with my number, actually winning races. Thank You so much. Your championship put some air into my shirts.
@0diee
@0diee 2 месяца назад
The “Morgan-McClure bog”? ur talking about 2001/02 forward? cus irregardless of championships the kodak #4 was iconic in the 90’s.. and is still iconic to this day… Ernie Irvan? Sterling Marlin? Three Daytona 500s? including two of those back-to-back.. 14 cup wins? also the #4 ran with Kasey Kahne for 2011 for Red Bull.. Stewart Haas didn’t get the #4 from MMM. now I do understand what ur saying about Harvick bringing that number a championship but lets put some respect on Morgan-McClure Motorsports c’mon

Congratulations Kevin harvick on retiring looking forward to so much more from you hey guys it's funny you mentioned something about who you don't like and then the experiences of growing up around them now with your kids Now up north we have a thing which you guys have to which is travel sports and we run a company that deals with that and watching the kids the parents their relationships people that you knew from the past now talking and you know watching Kyle Busch's Braxton's racing on RU-vid and now watching harvick's kid racing you'll end up on the track a lot together during those times and it's funny because your relationship from being on the track not liking each other turns into a good friendship because your kids are competing with each other and might end up one day both beyond Junior Motorsports racing who knows Great work guys Mike Davis sad you're not going to be doing this anymore I always think you bring such a unique perspective from things for the non-driver who's helping out

I think it's safe to say that Kevin Harvick is the last of the true NASCAR legends. Not to mention the man whose car he drove, but the guys he ran with....Gordon, Stewart, the Labontes, Elliott, Jarrett, Martin, the Burtons, the Busch's, just to name a few...he is the last of NASCAR'S last golden age.

I loved the part where they talked about the #29 for the All-Star race coming together. Kevin mentioned Chocolate Myers. A few 8 or 10 years ago my parents and I went to RCR for a tour when they visited me in Greensboro. At the end of the tour CM had walked in the area. I said "Hey Chocolate. How are you doing?" The man spoke to me like I was an old friend. Couldn't have been a nicer guy. Later, my Mom asked me how I knew him. When I told her that was the first time I'd ever met him she almost didn't believe me. I'll always be a fan of Chocolate Myers (and Kevin Harvick).

Can you start the conversation or maybe explain why Phoenix is the track last race of the year, year after year?

Just watched an hour of the Kevin Harvick tribute on FOX tonite (1/22/24). I watched this video when it first came out and it is/was superior to the FOX offering. I see FOX is still in love with the PED boy, from the Yankees. The guy was a cheater and I cannot believe Harvick gives one toot about him. My thoughts on the FOX program are: (1) I guess Mike Joy is of the belief that Mark Martin is the best driver to not win a championship. (2) Too bad FOX didn't have a clip on Junior wishing Kevin well with his new career because Junior would give the program more credibility. (3) Junior's podcast titled The Closers last race was well done an a whole lot more informative and entertaining than the FOX show tonite!! Jens Notestein
