Never heard, meat is sattvik. I but I guess, India is diverse in its nature. Have seen few districts in Bihar, jharkhand, assam, tripura and I guess odissa(with odissa, I not very sure), during durga puja they cook, eat, and distribute the food, the way we distribute prasada. The vijay dashmi is celebrated with animal slaughtering, and even during Holi. And Bengal considers fish as some non living animal. So even pundits will continue eating, offering. Infact, the vam margi, has 5 makars, that includes fish and wine. And for me, my intellect is more important that others opinion. My heart cries, when I hear a painful voice, no matter, of a human or some animal. And I don't know the difference between the human flesh and animal flesh. They both have blood, bones and flesh! In psychological terms, the more you are experiencing joy in hurting others, and feasting over it, the more ruthless you become, bit by bit, day after day. You sensitively will start dissolving. Selective empathy is a failed theory. We can manipulate other people, but our system responses doesn't work with manipulations, but on recorded memories.

I am frm bengal we r bhrahmin and in our family kali puja we practice animal sacrifice. Mutton is cooked without onion and garlic and tomatoes, we add hing and curd. And that is offered to Goddess. Its called niramish mangsho (vegetarian mutton). Sounds oxymoron but thats true.

Eating meat is not satvic at all and is purely tamasic according to scriptures. If you go by Shastrartha technically and despise beef ban and say beef eating is allowed in Hinduism, then it is also written that Hindus during upakarma (thread ceremony) should drink Gomuthra to purify themselves. So can you also support that and drink Gomuthra to support your arguement? So according to Abhijit's logic every beef eating Hindu should also drink Gomuthra because both are in Scriptures. So you can't run away from it.

Fallacy to eqate North with Punjabi food which may be served in restaurants. Home food curry/daal/saag would be without onion or garlic in most UCs and rural areas. Ghee is used to enhance taste. Remember in North max Vegetables come mainly in winters while fruits come in summer. We grew up eating veg, curry/Daal etc without onion or garlic. Sometime spring pinion veg. was cooked in winter.

The whole episode came across like some inane useless schoolboy chatter. There were at least 2 topics that could have been intelligently elaborated upon 1.traditional regional food and recipes and their adulteration or modification, and AIM seems to have familiarity with quite a few, and 2.the labour policies that were only criticised but no suggestions for course correction were mentioned Was it in your face irreverence that described meat as satvik food or disdainful ignorance? The in your face irreverence without reason or rationale does not have meaning or substance, more like a rebel without a cause? Something like I am a saying this flippant thing so there!
