Great video, I love Alina's approach of getting a song going without getting caught up in the technicalities of the processing. She's a great songwriter and producer and she's a natural educator. Bravo UAD for bringing her onboard, she's excellent at this!
This is my first intro (aka looking into) LUNA. I"m not even half way into this first video, but this is such a good video and example, like all UA stuff I've watched. Alina sure is good at expressing ideas and explanations! Thanks go out to UA Team and @AlinaSmith for putting it all together so well.
Great job! Thank you very much for this marvellous demo. I love your broad-brush approach, not getting stuck into the details but getting the main ideas down. You make it look very easy - but we all know it isn't! Lots to learn there, for me, and I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the series.
This was really inspiring and educational. It's a complete departure from the music I record. But I learned so much from just this short video. I love the arrangement and the layering of simple parts. I'm going to try to leave more space in my rhythm guitar on my next recording and see what else I can come up with to thicken the sound.
Lots of people will be trying Luna now that its being released on Windows....and these people will be SHOCKED as I was yesterday that midi editing is an afterthought and that there's no "Bounce in Place"
I don’t mind. Overall, I have my preferred software that I like to create music in. And may be down the road. Luna will be capable. As of right now, though it’s a good mixing platform though after you you are finished making your music.
@@darkmaer bouncing is why i m not using a program that cann0t bounce in place.... who has the computing power to not bounce in place with modern plugins?
Hands down the best DAW ever! I tried it and I'm absolutely in love with it. Went from the free version and had to go Pro! I hope UA keeps adding new features to this DAW forever!!
This is great! I watched all of the office hours when luna came out. I have been loving my x4 and my UAD bundle. You guys rock. If we can start seeing some more videos i would be so so happy. Thank you all so much!
This yes! Working with drum VSTs or even orchestral ones is such a pain without multiple outs (a workaround is BlueCats connector & MetaPlugin but that's way too much work)
Great video, I'm almost completely switching to LUNA, I'm just waiting for Melodyne ARA 2 integrations and being able to apply effects directly to the audio without having to load the plugin in the channel insert, something like Audiosuite from Pro Tools 🙏🏽
If they could only Fix the Takes/Vocals comping it would be an Amazing DAW but the comping in LUNA still Sucks!! We’re not in 2010 anymore 😂😭 Which I think is one of the main reasons lots of people is still holding back on using LUNA. Hopefully they upgrade it soon 🙌🙏
Developing a DAW takes a lot of time. They are still early in the process. But yeah, good comping is fundamental these days. I think Logic is one of the best in that area. I mainly use Studio One, which has decent comping, but not the best.
Ummm, what? Digital DAW has been around for decades so the blue print is well and truely there. Luna is in limbo. I mean, in 2023 a DAW with no video engine?@@henrikpetersson3463
@@adamadam33892 for a daw that has just started, it is very advanced, and it is not even basic, perhaps you have not delved into using it or have not even used the daw, for those who have already worked with pro tools, cubase, logic and studio one, which are more robust daws In tools, you know that Luna arrived with both feet in the door, what's missing are details that I believe will arrive in the second version, such as a version for Windows, compatibility with VST and ARA mode, and freeing the user to choose how to build the shortcuts for her workflow, this is something that I think she should release these days, but anyway, the best current professional option for those who want to work producing, mixing and delivering material at a high level, of course each daw has its purpose, just like the fl studio which is for one stop, ableton live, for another purpose, studio one for another similar proposal like cubase and logic etc.
Ya Luna sucks for how much the blah interface all to get at the world renowned plug ins, that are all pay per and the marketing strategy using all the big names selling out on the catfish style marketing. Why can any these fu$&&) ever just stop with the complete nonsense marketing. It’s sad we can’t get past this. Trust me I go hard when a brand does me wrong I cut it off and don’t have a problem. Squeeze money out of people on things that can’t be returned. The Luna program and the console app won’t run in my 2023 m2 mini ….obviously it’s not a studio or pro chill but come on spent 3 time on the interface, the plug ins are 15 day trials. The Luna program is junk it wastes too much time . I had as good of sound in less time with garage band and the beringer hd 4i4…with usb cable on a 2013 Mac …what is going on here? I’m so frustrated
Really nice vid! Missed the step where you put the verb and delay on a bus! May be a "duh" for more experienced producers/makers, but maybe not for beginners! There are two things I really miss in Luna, Vocal comps and editing shortcuts. Fix that and I'm well on my way!
Great video! Thank you Universal Audio! Please provide more tutorials on how to use Luna with your excellent plugins! I made a decision to ditch Logic and focus solely on Luna now! I believe Luna will offer me more value in the future.
UAD has their heads up their own butts. They took forever to finally make some of their plugins native, and the last in the world to support Windows. They really want to sell those low power Apollo units. They only support Mac because they are stuck in 1999. Their plugins used to be the best but Brainworx, and a Plugin Alliance have beaten them by a long shot.
They are a small company. They support the platform where the majority of professionals are. Developing a DAW is complex enough, doing it for two platforms at the same time makes it much harder.
@@henrikpetersson3463 They have no excuses in today's world. Every DAW is cross platform. Modern computers are more powerful than any of their hardware DSP units. Plus, this is not a small company. They operate on the scarcity principle, using software to sell hardware, and exclusivity to one platform to make it seem like their plugins and software are rare and only used by the most professional in the business. Also, sticking to Mac's only forces people to upgrade when a new Mac OS updates and the old version plugins are not supported by the new OS. Making their customers buy the new version of their old plugins. Much like Waves audio does. I'm surprised they don't just put a set time to live on all their plugins causing them to not work after 2 years or something. Also their native plugins "phone home" all the time. Forcing you to stay connected to the Internet to use their plugins even though you also have to have ilok for licensing. So, unless you buy a hardware unit, you can't use their plugins offline. This company is run by greedy vultures.
hey UAD, how can i get my old apollo to run on my offline windows7 computer? i bought this thing for 2000 bucks and now a not continued driver forces me to update? where is the driver for the Sonnet card needed to connect it to my computer? as long as this issue remains and old UAD HARDWARE cannot be made to run under an OS it always worked under, i m OUT... no more UAD until my old apollo works again.... and i m loud about it...
I love luna, but I need HW insert in my workflow and comping is not like other DAWs... so not ideal for mixing and for tracking in my workflow. I really hope for upgrade
Why did you say the lmf is 700. It doesn't look like you set it there. Kinda wish you'd explain these dials because I'm confused. Understand I'm an S1 guy but free DAWs are always nice to have.
We need to be able to import one-shot samples into the sales LUNA. It’s limited my use of LUNA for the longest time since my style of music (afrobeats) is mostly sample based
@@henrikpetersson3463 I cannot import my personal one-shot samples into any LUNA specific sampler - I know there are other samplers from other manufacturers, but I would rather prefer one that's within the UAD space to enhance my workflow.
You can hear the hardcore tuning destroing the naturall "s" sounds in the vocal....I'd rather record 20 takes than just 1 and process it so much that it sounds robotic
Are the saw bass and 808 playing together? Or are they in different sections? If together, will/can we see how they’re mixed to work together? Thanks! And I noticed the snares look like every other one is pitched slightly higher? Cool way to add some movement if so!
@@maths0714 I know of course, but in my opinion it’s not fair…If they only sell that for Mac ok, but you sell to both platforms and it’s not a good thing, but it’s only my opinion.
Does the summing features work in native mode because I don’t want to spend money for DSP but now that Lunas come to windows I would like to be able to use those features and I don’t wanna use up my demo just to find out they don’t work.
You obviously have already picked everything before hand. Is it possible yeah that you’re picking everything for the first time while you’re doing this but highly doubtful specially when it comes to keyboards with 1000 sounds to pick from most musicians artist will sit there for 30 minutes to an hour or two going through different synthesizer sounds you just magically picked the one oh it’s the perfect one I mean give me a break.😂
Well, they chose to go with the short format for these videos. Even though it can be interesting to look at someone auditioning sounds for hours, that's not really what this video is intended for. It's meant to be more of an inspirational video than an in depth masterclass.
Thank you universal audio for releasing the moon to use in other interfaces, you gave me the opportunity to study and start taking my steps on the platform that I have always admired for a long time and now you can start slowly within the conditions to buy products, especially the interface in the future as the apollo 8p which is a consumer dream and migrating to the luna and following this evolution and working on my productions and future work using the luna, I wish you brilliant success, I will do my best to bring content to the channel I have for music production and from the label called Cla.p Music and expand this daw which in my point of view has everything to be the biggest on the market, in addition to being beautiful it is authentic and you are already well advanced in the market, I believe that from version 2 on From now on it will be a robust and complete tool.
She means LUNA Pro Bundle. It's a bundle of plugins and Extensions that we're offering at a crazy low intro price, to get users up and running on day1!
What rock have you been living under? Fall out boy is a well known band that's been around for over 20 years and has 23,5 million listeners on Spotify.
She may have some good ideas as an instrumentalist or even producer, but as a sound engineer... sorry, no! 90% of the time it 's like "let 's see the presets... I love this preset... I will use this preset...." The job may be done in the end, but...!
@@Arisen_Rhez Right... "It sounds cool". Try doing this in some of your own productions and see how "cool" it will sound. Besides... Browsing through presets is not a "tutorial" video. You learn nothing. At best it's advertising.
I stopped watching at 52 seconds into the video when she showed her clipping finish track. No modern-day music producer should still be playing the loudness of war.
At 52”, it’s not clipping. It’s just peaking at 0 dB, perfectly normal, and there’s plenty of room still; it’s not squashed at all. The loudness war is played by those who have a squashed sausage in their final mix or master, and this is not the case. We should also consider the genre of this song. These kinds of songs need to be compressed; that’s how they sound. Also, the loudness war is not as crazy as it used to be in the past, but it’s still out there; everybody still wants their tracks to sound huge (in selected genres). It should also be best to hear if the song is sounding nice, and not how it’s looking…
And you missed out on a really informative tutorial from a hit producer! Over a picture that’s probably just a visual edit anyway. Good job, smarty pants 😂😂😂
What is with this? Anything from a company like UAD is a commercial. Why then are there commercials on top of commercials? All RU-vid needs to do is collect a little money every time someone clicks on a link under the video. There should be recommended products under each video and leave it at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's such a missed opportunity. While also being counter productive since no one likes adverts and will find ways around them. Prime Membership... that's like saying, if you don't want advertisements then you need to pay. So on the other hand, how does RU-vid offer exposure to companies? To company... our users hate your advertisements, and we even offer a better experience to anyone who pays us called a "Prime Membership" so they don't have to see what you pay us to show them. How the heck do you market something that is poison? All these companies have to do, all RU-vid has to do... is make links under the videos to products and services! That's all! We're all looking at these videos with the intention of getting involved in something! So, offer us what we're going to look on Google for anyway! Duh!
