Hi Jake, I’m Hessa from UAE, desert country .. so happy to see our desert trees gardening in your yard especially date palm trees. With the dates you can make honey date thick syrup. We use this syrup as breakfast with bread. It’s full of minerals. Try to plant Jasmin trees, they love sun and heat. Thanks for sharing this and I’m super fan of your achievements.

I don’t think it’s getting hotter or harsher lately. My husband and I lived in Glendale, Az in 1973-75, and it was 120 degrees for many weeks/months back then. My husband landscaped a 6 acre newly built apt complex in the extreme heat.

Another way to get wood chips is go ask the contractor on new home construction sites and ask if you can have the small pieces of framing lumber they're throwing away then run it through a chipper

It's much easier to have your own mulch when you are owning forests. It does a lot of work to care for them, but you are rewarded with tons of mulch. I am even using compost and mulch to my inside the house trees in pots.

Thanks for sharring this video Jake. I love what you are doing in your backyard. I have a blank canvass right now but, will be applying all your teachings to fill my backyard with edible trees. Right now i have a few small trees in pots one of them is a moringa tree i grew from seeds i purchased on your webside. I go and smell the leaves everyday. I think the trees like it when you intract with them. My baby morninga tree is now 5+ feet tall, this happened in about 3 months. I hope it makes it though the TX winter.

Love this! So much helpful info! Your garden is really amazing! Thank you! I can adapt a lot for my Indiana yard. Right now the soil is sand and not much wants to thrive, so while I am building the soil I am going to grow a garden for the monarch butterflies. I do have guava seeds that I am going to try as an indoor tree and will see what happens. Thanks again, great video!

i really enjoyed your presentation it has given me new insight as to how to mulch and let nature do her thing i am going to watch a few more of your vids as a lot of it isn't for my area (windsor ontario canada ) there is still a lot to learn i gave up on a lot of things after my hubby passed away jan 2nd 2016 and now i am starting to get my groove back a little at a time but i am going to do a large garden this year 3x the size it was as it's only my income now and the bills are eating me alive so i am having to do what i can between house repairs n bills i am having to be very frugal with my money and pinch pennies (oh i forgot we don't have pennies anymore) so it will be nickel pinching lol but again ty for the videos it has perked me up with interest on how to make my own forest garden floors and gardens thrive

Jake, so I did your suggestion when I had a tree service just down the road chipping trees. I ended up with about 19 cubic yards of free mulch and something else hidden in the pile. I found a $600 backpack blower buried deep in the pile. I'm not sure how it got in there. I immediately called the owner of the tree service and returned it. I most likely have free wood chips for life now.

I have a bag of mulch that is full of mycelium and microscopic bugs, unfortunately it's mulch dyed black. It doesn't even say on the bag what they dyed it with. But don't worry, I'm vocal about this stuff with my mom so she wont be purchasing stuff like that anymore. My mom thought it was mold. You're spreading the knowledge! I'm utilizing it and eventually will accomplish a pacific northwest version of what you have.

Amen to that. Also, if you have a dense garden instead of a lawn people think you are crazy for going all in like these youtube garden channels do. However, if you have a dense edible garden you can interplant some flowers as well and people will think you are less crazy.

During times like this after hurricanes and natural disasters, people often get taken advantage of with their assets and land, especially farmers who are the foundation of any country's economy. I have started a GoFundMe mainly for farmers in need in the Caribbean who are often targeted and "gifted" seeds that are unknowingly GMO to plant so that they will be in-debt to the big corporation to whom the GMO seeds are patented. The link to support if you find it in your heart to give is in the description box of my latest video titled (GMO vs. Organic How GMOs affect Biodiversity). Any amount is greatly appreciated and the donations given will benefit so many more lives than the farmers they go to because it is the farmers that work in acres not hours that secure our food future🖤
