Jake, let me know when one of the homes next to you is for sale. I'll look into purchasing it and then we'll just "tear down the wall" and you can continue your gardening into my yard. :) All I ask is that I get to go grocery shopping in both backyards once a week. 😊🍇🍒🍋🍐🍆🍅

What can you do to add organic wood chips to an established garden without burying the established trees and plants? Would you have to build something around your trees so trunks don’t get suffocated by mulch?

Don’t use ziplock bags. America’s plastics are being dumped in the Pacific Ocean where fish choke on them. Just use wicker baskets with a cloth to cover it. Then put it in the fridge in a covered container.

Never take a troll to heart. Negativity never created anything but more negativity. You can't eat negativity! My father used to always say that the best remedy for boredom is a good book. Pick one up and read it ! He was right to an extent. But for me...the best remedy for boredom is a garden. Get to work and create one! Permaculture is the way to go. Work WITH nature. She has been around for a few BILLION years and knows a bit more than we do about farming. Thanks for sharing all of your gardening videos with us! I'm a fan...

I would love to be able to do this, but in Nebraska, the growing season is limited. I am trying figs, but not doing real great. I get only about 10 figs from 5 trees. Mostly because they die back to the ground every year. This year I will try wrapping one that is on the south side of my house. I will also try burying one.

Great inspiration. I’m getting ready to plant my trees, bushes and ground cover in my yard full of edibles to create my microclimate. Just sad I didn’t do this 10 years ago when I bought my house. Back in October I had 25 cubic yards of wood chips delivered for FREE! I’ve got a foot of chips everywhere and I’m excited to start planting. Thanks Jake for your videos and your friend here for sharing his yard 😀 my kids think I’m crazy too when I talk about wood chips and composting

Learn from Jake's mistakes. He can help you draw up your layout. No compost is needed if you use the "back to Eden" method. If you have no annual garden, just trees/bushes, free-range chickens are a good compliment.

I'm a very keen gardener and wondering if you could help me with this Micro climate you are talking about. I do have a large green house for my tropical vegetables. Would it help in the winter months? I have apples, pears,plums,greengage,walnuts,hazel nuts and almonds growing without any problems. I would love to grow papayas and moringas. Will I be able to create a Microclimate to help with cold? Please help.

I want to turn my backyard into a food garden but I don’t even know where to start. I’m so intimidated by this massive project. I know that if I start this big project of transforming my backyard into a food garden, I will need to rent all kinds of machines & equipment. I would need to remove my current plants, and strip the grass. That’s what scares me. I think it’s too hard to do
@truenorth5787
@truenorth5787 3 года назад
No need to get overwhelmed. Just take the first. Start with a couple of plants/trees in one corner or in planters. And that will lead you to your next step. Soon you'll have a decent garden of your own. Just do it. That's what I did. It looked so haphazard but in the second year we had 21 edible plants, fruit trees, herbs, etc. Just begin. Good luck.
