I followed this case when Nate Eaton confronted them in Hawaii. He has been on the case and really cared about the kids and Tammy for years. East Idaho news is the best source for this info. The trials are over and now Lori will now stand trial for the conspiracy to murder her husband Charles. Looking forward to your interview with Mike King.

I've listened to Lori's trial and saw Chad's trial and sentencing . The 2020 documentary was people just getting acquainted with the story, the trials were even more heartbreaking, more insane than anyone could wrap their mind around I think. There's a reason this got international attention. I hope there will finally be some closure for the families and everyone affected. ❤

The Daybell/Vallow case is what brought me to here to learn more about the LDS community and beliefs. I am Catholic. Can totally relate to Church scandals, but I want to know more about the teachings of the LDS church, and even the FLDS, as it seems Chad was responding to more fundamental teachings of the early days of the LDS Church. Your channel is absolutely fascinating- your lives are incredibly interesting and I’m very grateful you’re sharing a good deal of your experiences with us. We live in a Mayberry-like small town in Michigan. We do have an LDS church here and I’ve met a couple of missionary young men a few years ago, and my best friend’s college roommate was LDS. That’s the extent of my experiences with the LDS community. Thank you again for sharing your own experiences and having guests share theirs! I don’t think I will ever understand Lori Vallow’s mind, but I do appreciate all you both are doing to encourage thought and discussion of very heavy topics.

The more you learn about the LDS faith the more you will realize how very little connection there really is between the church and Lori/ Chad. They were truly nuts and is so different from the LDS beliefs
@TiffinyHarrington
@TiffinyHarrington 3 месяца назад
@@lizkt No, I couldn’t disagree more, respectfully. I certainly don’t know all that much, but what I have come to realize is both the LDS and the FLDS Church seem to hold beliefs that seem particularly unique and cannot be separated from this case. There seems to be great weight given to visions and dreams and the complex beliefs regarding Heaven and the afterlife and the idea of NDE and seeing “beyond the Veil” is all part of this story and I just don’t know how anyone can deny the connection. Chad Daybell espoused his beliefs for YEARS in his community and to members of his Ward. He published and wrote his own books on these beliefs and he sold the books with the seeming blessing of the Church. Even after Tammy died, the quick remarriage and missing children, Chad had the support of his Church and community. His children remain supportive. Chad wasn’t excommunicated until AFTER the children’s bodies were discovered in his backyard. I do not mean any disrespect to you or others, because I am certain most members of the LDS and FLDS Church are very good, decent people who live good lives and contribute positively to their communities. But I just can’t ignore the influence of the teachings of the Church over time that contributed heavily to this case.

@@TiffinyHarrington I appreciate your comment. I found it kind and respectful. I hope you will listen to me with the same respect and openness. Especially since you acknowledge you don't know much about my faith. 1. The church has never "supported" Chad. He wrote fictional stories that he sold in bookstores and through his own publishing company. The prophet never endorsed them in any way. And on the outside he did seem like a good LDS member. He did everything he was supposed to do and kept his own pycho doctrines to a selected few. He wasn't excommunicated because his local leaders were never aware of what he was secretly doing. And it isn't like leaders spy on people. Usually sins are left to be confessed by the individual. And obviously Chad wasn't confessing any of his pycho beliefs or behaviors. 2. Nde are not an LDS thing. I've never heard any kind of story shared at church or been taught from them. We believe they happen as much as other religions. There are plenty of Christian stories of going to heaven and what not. But I don't think that means that nde are a part of protestant or Catholic doctrine. Just some people have them and share them. I've never had one and I don't know anyone who claims too. 3. We believe in revelation from God but not in the way Chad taught. We believe individuals can pray and receive direction for themselves. Not for the world or others. We also the prophet can receive revelation for the church. Not just anyone can claim a revelation like the end of times or for the entire church. And visions such as dreams can happen, but they are not common. Usually revelation comes in thoughts and peaceful feelings. If anyone just randomly told me they saw a vision, honestly my first reaction would be to doubt them. They just don't happen very often and usually it would be to a prophet. And if their "vision" had something other to do with their own direction I would definitely not belief them. They don't have the authority to have revelation over other people.

I'm so glad you guys are digging into this. I see sooooo much coverage about the trial that's just like... 'cold hard facts' in terms of like... focusing in solely on the murder. Where they were on what day and what logistics did they use to carry out the murders. Like... I wanna know about their beliefs, what specifically did they believe to lead them to do this? How did they become so radicalized? Some people hear "oh yeah they did it because they're religious nuts" and that's good enough for them to carry not. But I'm like NO I need to learn more! And you guys are one of the only channels really digging into the background of their beliefs. I really appreciate that.

That trust that Sam mentions for members of the same church is the main reason why LDS members are so easily scammed. There's tons of MLM's in Utah! I followed the Chad and Lori story from when the kids were missing through to Chad's death penalty sentencing. There's way more rabbit holes than the makers of Sins of Our Mother could know at the time of the making of it.

I was at the CrimeCon session where Nate Eaton interviewed Summer. I really felt for her. She was honest and vulnerable and persevered despite the vitriol some folks slung at her (which benefits no one). It was brave of her. She wants to explore it b/c she doesn’t understand how it happened, just like the rest of us.

Ah, so you guys are going to have Mike King on. My guesses were wrong. Still excited though, I love Mike. I think Lori is mentally ill, but obviously not so mentally ill that she was incompetent to stand trial. She knew enough to lie to the police and other folks, so that tells me she had enough insight to know what she did was wrong and to try and hide it. Someone who was more mentally ill and lost in delusions would not. Recently, some criminologists have theorized about a type of murder called "elimination murders" and I think these murders might fit into that. Lori's mother's reaction and behaviour is not surprising to me, given what we now know about Lori's sister Stacey and what happened to her.

Is this what you got from understanding the psychopath. She was a manipulator from Childhood. Listen to her cousin. Lori gets her ways always. She used Chad to get what she wants. She stole insurance/support money of those little kids. She killed her husband Charles. Alex took 45 plus minutes before calling 911 to report the murder. Do you guys find it normal the way Tylee and Lori behaved for the police interview after a man who provided for them for 14 years was killed? Again a grown man taking money from his 17 year old sister through the mother. The who family dysfunctional. Nothing and no person can be justified for their action. Even Charles made Joe Ryan’s life miserable. Only victim I feel extremely sad for is the little baby JJ. Lori never fell for Chad rather used him and now finally caught she has to behave the way she behave. There is no backing off from it.
@heathercschafer
@heathercschafer 3 месяца назад
You don’t find Tammy, Tylee and Charles (and Brandon) victims? You might need to rethink that. Watch Sins of our Mother, Charles literally begged police multiple times for help. He knew something bad would happen but his hands were tied. Tylee tried to protect JJ, which is likely why she was killed first. Tammy did nothing wrong other than marrying a very odd man who treated her badly. Please do more research before thinking JJ was the only victim!!
@jessaabraham
@jessaabraham 3 месяца назад
@@heathercschafer I have been following this case 5 years now. If you see how Joe Ryan was falsely accused and later the same way Charles you will know. Yes I do know they are victims murdered by this woman’s manipulation. As adults when you see things are turning nuts you escape. I am sure Charles nor Tammy was expecting this but this is a story repeated over and over in domestic violence. I did see sins of our mothers which was a summary of all that I was following through these many years.
@heathercschafer
@heathercschafer 3 месяца назад
@@jessaabraham I’ve also followed this case for 5 years. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. My point was to address your comment that JJ was the only person you felt badly for. There are SO many victims in this case! Even those who weren’t directly involved and had to be on the jury, lawyers, judge, etc. in addition to family members, friends, teachers… the list is never ending.
