A week ago I check out this yard and it was not ready to take down from double brood chambers to singles. A week is a long time in beekeeping and now they have developed tremendously and are ready. The queen is shaken down to the lower chamber and held in place by a queen excluder. These bees are doing so well that I also added a honey super. Watch how its done.

Checker boarding can work with drawn comb. Haven't seen it work with foundation. But you use what ya got....

Good Afternoon! Still loving your content, mainly watching how a pro goes about inspections and manipulations! One question, for those frames that you are shaking down (gently) that have any stage of uncapped brood, does shaking it down affect (negatively) the eggs or forming larva? Thanks!

You may have mentioned it before, but why do you have some hives with wood inner cover and others with the reflective silver material? Thanks!

Do the bees have an easier time keeping warm in a single box in the winter, or does it not matter? Im not particularly fussed about maximizing honey production, but I would certainly try this method if there was reason to believe it would improve the odds of surviving.

Hi Peter, I really appreciate your videos and I can honestly say that I have learnt lots from you. I regularly watch Ian Stepplar and Kamon Reynolds and consider your videos with the same value. Thank you so much!. My Question is what size tote do you use for shaking the bees down? A short video on how you fabricate yours would be really interesting. Thanks
