This is just one of those most surprising movies I have ever watched that shocked me how good it was at the end, when I didn't know at the time how much I apparently liked ugly gooey gore displayed prolifically on bodies being killed. I diagnosed myself a sick puppy after watching that movie, when I rented it from Blockbuster many years ago.
I loved the looks on y'all faces when Salma turned and bit quieten!! I'm glad you enjoyed it I watched it when it came out in the theater I'm a serious movie buff especially Horror
That foot scene with Salma Hayek must have been the highest point in Quentin Tarantino's life!😂 Also, fun fact: Salma's actually terrified if snakes, so she had to be put in a hypnotic trance for the entire dance scene.
“They were not Psychos, Carlos, they were Vampires! Psychos don’t explode when sunlight hits them, I don’t give a f*** how crazy they are!!!” -I love this insane movie!
The guy with the penis gun is the legend Tom Savini, special effects genius, and the man who pulls the switchblade on him is Greg Nicotero, executive producer of The Walking Dead and also a special effects genius
*Yep, Nicotero of KNB EFX Group, which was founded by Robert Kurtzman, Greg Nicotero, and Howard Berger. Nicotero and Berger met while performing special makeup effects under Tom Savini on George Romero's zombie film "Day of the Dead". Nicotero, Berger, and Kurtzman all worked together on Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead II". In 1988, the three formed their own company. The name KNB was chosen to represent the first letter of each founder's last name.* ⬅⚠🎬📀
@@NicholasCorvinKNB also approached QT to write the script for From Dusk Til Dawn in 1990, with the intention of making their own horror movie with Kurtzman directing. Instead of asking for money, QT wrote the script in exchange for KNB agreeing to do the special effects in Reservoir Dogs for free. After a few years of the movie not getting made and QT’s career taking off, KNB agreed to relinquish the rights to let QT and Rodriguez make the movie.
I was set up across the aisle from Tom Savini at a show just across the river from NYC. We spent the weekend talking movies and models. I was there as a professional model builder and writer, later I became a prop builder, art director, prop master and continued building professionally until I retired. Tom was one of the coolest people and told me about some of the effects he came up with. Many still used today.
Agreed, he's something else. It's also interesting that the hotel scene with him & the bank teller is slightly similar to the one in Natural Born Killers with Mickey Knox and the poor hostage. That film also had Juliette Lewis in a very different role. Crazy movie, not sure how they'll feel about that movie though lol 😂 Now that they've seen this film, I hope that they decide to check out the El Mariachi Trilogy. While my favorite Tarantino character was when he played the poor Pick-Up Guy in Desperado (the second film in that trilogy), I think this was his best performance, he's really good at being creepy. The scene where he looks normal but his eyes are different always gives me chills. It's such a good little creepy moment, especially with Seth's tearful reaction. Solid acting by Clooney.
Yes, I hope they watch not only Desperado but the whole El Mariachi Trilogy. It'll be cool to see them get the references this film made to Desperado like Banderas' character El having Sex Machine's crotch gun in his guitar case. :) Another great one I hope they check out is The Faculty (1998), but they may have to check out the Body Snatchers films first.
@@TheBraunMachine2K24 I love The Faculty; I re-watch it on the regular. Body Snatchers (1993) is my personal version of the story. And the whole El Mariachi trilogy is so good.
This movie is the perfect movie to watch someone watch for the first time. When Aaron was like "Where is this movie going" I was like "whatever you're thinking is wrong" lol
First time I saw this was at a friend’s after school. He told me it was a heist movie. So when the vampires showed up it is one of the most shocked/confused I’ve ever been in a movie. 😂
The way that this movie changes from a typical Tarantino crime flick into over the top horror is one of the slickest bait and switches every pulled off. I am so glad that you guys went into this blind.
This movie probably has the best narrative left turn ever. It goes from being a hard-boiled "fugitives on the run" crime film into full-on splatterhouse vampire movie.
The Band in this movie "Tito & Tarantula" is a fantastic live act, their concerts are fantastic, even after more than 25 years later. Saw them many times, always great.
The guy with the crotch gun is Tom Savini, who is a practical effects pioneer (Day of the Dead). I think he did most of the practical effects here. I saw him at a horror con, and he did indeed invent and build that gun.
I love when people see this movie for the first time because its such an absolute swerve when the vampires appear, nobody ever sees it coming. When this movie first premiered and it reached the Titty Twister scene people in the cinema were asking out loud "what the hell kind of movie is this?!"
Funny cuz us kids back then were raised on desperado and dusk till dawn from Rodriquez then just a few years later the newer gen were raised on spy kids, what a contrast : p
Ikr? He gave us El Mariachi, Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn & The Faculty & then he gave us the Spy Kids movies, then years later Sin City, Planet Terror & the Machete films, his films are always fun. Very underrated director IMHO.
While I already knew about the Vampires, people who didn't see the trailer didn't know. The theater went CRAZY when the vampire thing happened. Some people even left the theater. Man, 1996... what a different theatrical world we lived it.
Nobody noticed that when Richey went for a lunch run and came back with Big Kahuna burgers, which is the exact same burger Jules (Samuel Jackson) was eating at the apartment of the kids that stole Mr. Wallace's brief case.
All I know about this movie is that here in Brazil it is called "Um drink no inferno", like "A drink in hell", and I always thought the title was so cool. And that there's a scene with Salma Hayek that would have confirmed that I'm definitely not straight waaay way sooner.
The Father is Harvey Keitell. Probably spelled it wrong. He's probably one of the well know actors ever. Done everything. Worked with everyone worth working with. For over three decades. A lot of gangster movies though.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew they were gonna have a fun time with it & hope that they check out The Faculty (1998) next. If they loved FDTD, they'll love The Faculty but they have to see the Body Snatchers movies first because The Faculty talks about that plot/storyline.
It's the movie that really does take you on a trip you never thought you'd be on, and does make you think each time you see a scene, "How the F--k did they do it so freaking well to mess with me so frighteningly perfectly?"
Love this reaction! Exactly the way I first saw this movie. At a friend's house, and he put it on and told me nothing about it. That twist is MIND BLOWING when you have no idea it's coming 😂😂
There was a TV show based on the movie that aired on the now defunct station El Rey Network. It gives us backstory on the Gekko Brothers, Jacob Fuller and his family, as well as showing what really happened to Jacob's wife.
The sudden shift from crazy drama action movie to vampire movie might be one of the biggest twists ever. It doesn’t catch everybody, because some people knew going in/know now going in. But when you have no clue what this movie is, and suddenly it becomes *that*, it’s fucking insane. It’s like a different movie starts playing.
😂😂😂👍👍 I can't imagine watching this at the movie theatre with a bunch of people, not knowing the big vampire twist was coming ... especially, right after a spectacular dance performance‼
I remember when I first watched this movie I had no idea what to expect I definitely wasn’t expecting a vampire flick, and I damn sure didn’t count on seeing Salma Hayek put a foot in Tarantino’s mouth but knowing him it makes perfect sense such a weird, fun, unhinged ride. I also think this was the first time I saw Clooney play like a bad guy but I thought he was so cool and so bad ass. Please do DEATH PROOF NEXT!🙌🏾
Ikr? I feel the same way, Seth Gecko's still my favorite character he's ever played, he was so badass & had so many great quotes. "Everybody be cool, *YOU* be cool!" is a classic.
They completely got any Goodfellas references completely wrong. That was a Martin Scorsese film. That was Joe Pesci in that movie and not Harvey Keitel. LOL
I love that there is an influx of reactors FINALLY reacting to this awesome movie!! I always like to see people’s reactions to the big twist (as long as it wasn’t spoiled before seeing it lol). I was too young to see this in the 90s, but now I’m my 30’s, it’s still my favorite. ❤
Trip thing about this movie, no matter how many times I've seen it in jus realizing that Trejo and Cheech both actually tried to save them. Twice they told them they weren't welcome but who they were as criminals wouldn't allow that to happen. Damn Also that body guitar scene😂
My friend showed me this when I was in 7th grade not telling me anything about it. It scared the shit out of me, but I have grown to love it over the years. I love sharing it with people just to see their reactions to the twist.
HELL! YES! This is one of my all-time favorite films. I saw this in the theater (as part of a double feature with Don't Be A Menace...) and it was one of the best moviegoing experiences I've had. I bought the soundtrack and recently, I bought the out-of-print published screenplay. Before the film was released on home video, a friend got me a bootleg VHS. I used to run it on my TV in the background, while I did homework or art. I know this movie backwards and forwards, inside and out. The feature-length documentary, Full Tilt Boogie is also a ton of fun. They went through a lot to get this movie made and I'm so happy it's getting the love and recognition it deserves.
To be fair our sweet and lovely Tara was sick for a while it seems like she’s trying to get back into the swing of things, I hope she feels better I miss her high energy.
YES! I LOVE THIS MOVIE. And I love when people have never heard or seen this... I put it own with ZERO idea about it and see their reactions! The sudden vampire twist makes this movie 10x better. One of my favorite movies. We don't get movies like this anymore 😢😢😢😢
I love seeing peoples reactions to this movie. Half the movie just seems like an ordinary action film until the vampires come in. You guys definitely had the best reaction I've seen so far.
You guys should react to Wishmaster. That horror film from 1997 is such an underrated gem in the world of horror with one of the most one of a kind unique horror premises for this spooky month
For more lore, Robert Rodríguez made a series explaining and adding to the lore even to why Richie was crazy. The first season is the movie and the seasons after does have Kate join Seth afterwards.
When I first saw this movie I thought it was a crime thriller, imagine my absolute shock when it turned into a vampire movie! No other movie I have ever seen has taken such a massive leap from one genre to another.
So, Fred Williamson, the "A Team" guy, started out as an NFL player, turned to acting. Bit roles in a number of shows (Star Trek, for example). Leading character in the movie version of MASH. Got cast in a lot of Blaxspliotation movies in the 70s. In the 80s, he headed over to Italy and ended up in lead roles in a lot of low budget Italian action films before heading back to have minor roles throughout the last few decades. 134 roles and counting. Never actually was on the A Team. 1 episode of Fantasy Island though.
3:15 Favourite line #1: "Your best better get a hell of a lot f***ing better or you are gonna feel a hell of a lot f***ing worse." 🤣 5:52 It's actually "Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions" by The Lonely Island and this clip is in the Music Vid. 🤘 13:13 Nah, Seth definitely killed some cops during his escape. "No real people?" "No, just cops." 14:50 Favourite line #2 (not shown): "You can all live forever, or die this second, and I don't give a sh!t which." 🤣🤣 22:36 That right there is none other than Legendary Make-Up and Effects Artist Tom Savini. Perfect man for the role. 24:16 To people who say "Nobody's Perfect", I respond with "Explain Salma Hayek". 😻 26:11 What an amazing coincidence that Famed Foot Fetishist Quentin Tarantino gets to suck on Salma Hayek's Tequila Toes. You wondered earlier why Tarantino wrote this role for himself... 42:41 Bad strategy here. The smaller force had the larger force funnelled into a choke point and could have just kept picking them off at will. King Leonidas is disappointed. 48:29 Favourite Line #3 (also not shown...disappointing, but I get it) : "Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a f*** how crazy they are." 🤣🤣🤣
Loved that Reservoir Dogs reference. :) I also loved that line from Seth, I also love the "Everybody be cool, YOU be cool!" line as well, both are so badass. Wish we got a sequel with Clooney as Seth Gecko again.
This movie is one of the best memories of my mother. Took me to see when I was 10ish to see in the theater but taught me everything about good horror movies. She always said "if it ain't got boobies n blood, might not be worth a watch". Good philosophy in movie making...
That was an uber cute reaction. I've always loved FDTD. 99.9% of us knew it was a Vampire film when it was released...The cuteness factor comes from when the Bar locals transform and u 2 are like..."Are they're Aliens???.. They're Demons!!!, ,,,,,Oh ,,,wait ,,they're Vampires." Glad you enjoyed!
I saw this in the theater back in the day -- I was with five or six friends, and the theater was about 3/4 full. That place was seriously ROCKING, too -- some of the most fun I've ever had in the theater.
Tom Savini is the reason I ever started taking any interest movie production. I had read a book by him in elementary about his work on films, the process and inspiration behind them including his own life which is interesting to say the least. Some of the huh moments in this are otherwise real deep eggs from other films like the codpiece gun from Desperado Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Yes have her watch a cabin movie. And Return Of The Living Dead. She'll love that one.
There's a three season long tv series based on this film produced by Robert Rodriguez that takes the films story and then expands further, adding more vampire lore, and making some interesting changes to some of the main characters stories. It's well worth a watch.
