For wolves like grey wolves and sea wolves they are the top predators.Except for bears.And small wolves like the Ethiopian wolf live in the desert they really have no predators.

This show is a lie. Wolves are nearly extinct. It’s to make people think these animals are still roaming freely unharmed. Hunting was the main reason

@@franchisefred4066 Wolves are very much alive and well. They are not going extinct anytime soon. As you can see there are many types of wolves which means if one species die we still have many more. Ur a lie if anything…

I bagged two sea wolves last fall. Just got them back from the taxidermists. He did a great job.

false. this is not true of all living things. this is true of wolves in north america, because they were eradicated to near extinction on the rest of the continent, and only a few wolves were able to repopulate once reintroduction and protection efforts began. thus causing a shallow gene pool. only those untouched populations kept their diversity. if what you were saying was true, the untouched population would have lost its diversity at the exact same rate. it couldn't have been "preserved."

It is still a fact though that genetic diversity decreases within living organisms over time however because selection selects out portions of dna that are deemed not useful. Whats more, in the case of wolves and many other living things including humans, a few alpha individuals get to seed a majority of the next generation, thus narrowing the gene pool further. Whats even more: mutations represent a loss of functional genetic information, not a gain. Humans and other living things are accumulating mutations at a rate much higher than they can get rid of by selection. As indicated by the bible, the biological world is winding down, on a path from former perfection to degeneration. Of course the process is not so rapid that humans would become extinct anytime soon, but eventually it would happen.

@@aonyx5270 lmao the whole "alpha" bullcrap was discovered to be a myth by the same guy who coined the term. it is based on the behavior of unrelated captive wolves thrown into an enclosure together. in a wild wolf pack, breeding is limited to the parents. the rest dont reproduce with each other, because they're siblings. the rest of the wolves will all eventually disperse to make their own packs, usually males first, but if their parents die this forces the offspring to disperse early. if there is enough food to go around, younger generations of she-wolves will be allowed to have pups with male dispersals, but the male dispersal is usually not allowed to stay with the pack. sometimes they are though. wolf behavior is complex, but survival is difficult enough without wolves wasting 90% of them just being guard dogs for a single breeding pair their whole lives. all wolves are supposed to disperse and have their own litter eventually. hierarchy is based on maturity & parentage, just like every other social animal. not on some innate "alpha" quality.
