I love a great immigrant story! Vitalli--from Ukraine--and I talk about his observations of America, the challenges of coming to a new country, and how he's figured out how to thrive here (Part 2 of 2).

I agree 100%. Also, it takes away all hope of overcoming and being triumphant, with the right mindset and hard work. I think this is the most detrimental. Also, one becomes resentful when the stuff they feel they are owed, doesn’t materialize in reality. “Real life” seems like a burden when one has to work for things. It creates disgruntled citizens, filled with jealousy and anger, rather than people who are grateful and appreciative of what they have-no matter how little that is. Earning the things one has, even if very little, maintains one’s pride and dignity. Having things handed to them that weren’t earned creates entitlement and no fulfillment. It is never enough, because one is never satisfied and never feels pride in their work or accomplishments, everything is taken for granted.

Because it depends on 3 things: 1)your profession 2)your level of education, and 3)your location. South Florida caters to Cubans and all Spanish speaking people (they don't need to learn English to be successful here). If they went to Kentucky they would not be successful. It's not that people are just complaining. It's that this system DOES work against you - especially in certain regions of the US - if you don't have a specific national origin, speak certain languages, and no matter how hard you work your butt off, it isn't the same as it was in the 1950's to "make it" here in the USA as it was. It's not playing victim, it's telling it like it is.

Another great story from you Peter! Vitalli said, "if you work hard, you will definitely get your income". It's the "hard work" part that many Americans of a younger generation seem to have disdain for. My husband laid hard wood flooring when we lived in the states, a job most Americans hate because it's so backbreaking. He was paid by the square foot and because of that he was motivated to work hard and he made a boatload of cash. Opportunities like that don't exist in most forgein countries. There, you will work like a dog and they will pay you like one.

Far and away the best video of yours that I have seen! There was no way that you could change his truth and narrative that if you bust your ass, you will find success. I'm Cuban (born and raised) and I was able to escape Socialism 7 years ago. I lived in Spain for 2 years, and I've been living in the US since 2016. The opportunities that I found in this great country are almost incredible. I don't think there is another country with so many opportunities like this one if you are willing to work hard. It's so sad to me to see how is going in the Socialist direction, and I know first hand how fast Socialism can destroy prosperous countries. Also, when I see people that did not have to learn a new language and they complain all the time saying that they can not succeed because "the system" is against them, I find it ridiculous.

Define socialist?? Here in Britain we have a capitalist society yet we have a very socialised medical system which is doing amazing work with the Covid vaccines. I understand what you're getting at but these broad terms of socialism or capitalism don't really work for anymore. The best societies are a mixture between the two (mainly Scandinavia or Northern Europe) when you look at the statistics for life expectancy etc.

That's pretty funny. I know the total opposite (poor people who cannot get a single penny from the government), especially if you live in a Republican state. There simply is no way for poor people to work their way up if they do not have the resources to get higher education or better jobs. Heck, it's difficult enough to find a good job that will allow you to do more than live in a 400 sq foot apartment and buy a sandwich just to live each day.

Don't let this video fool you; it's FLORIDA. It is run by a Republican governor which means they don't require you to wear masks sitting down in a restaurant, that is all. Other than that, mask wearing is strongly encouraged in every business and food market. If you go to a state run by a Democrat you have to get a vaccine and wear a mask at all times. Basically, if you want to live anywhere there is work and a good size population, you need to wear a mask. They didn't show this in the video. Nope. No matter which country you emigrate from, the USA doesn't validate your credentials. You have to start all over, and/or take many extra courses and expensive exams. A lot of immigrants cannot afford to do that, plus they are usually battling language barriers. So, unfortunately this is why so many of them have to start from the very bottom. Pretty unfair, but I guess for good reasons, the USA has some of the strictest laws when it comes to medical practice as well as law.

The truth is that the American dream is something for first and second generation immigrants, not someone who's been in America for 6 or 7 generations.

The place he is shopping is on US-1. It is an international market that is across the street from another European/Russian international market. When I lived in Hollywood, FL, I shopped there all the time. They sell freshly cooked food and sell groceries outside of the store. The people are as friendly as Russians can be. There is a bakery a couple feet away from there as well. It's nestled in a European/Middle Eastern/Russian neighborhood. The place is very clean and the lines are usually long.

It was so cool that he was so complimentary of his wife's business, even thought it is "poles" apart from the preparation he had for his previous profession. A great partnership.

This discussion about sweaters at 24:41 reminds me of that guy Zamir Gotta from Anthony Borurdain's tv show No Reservations. He was a fixer in Russia but now lives in the U.S. He is a very enterprising type of a guy. Peter should do a show just with him.

This guy is pretty spot on. Speaking as a foreigner, what I think makes the US (and any other anglo saxon countries) better is the predictability of its law. Everything is clearly written, no rule is hidden. There are not so much hidden fees along the way

it’s very inspiring to see people taking advantage of effort, hard work and living their best life because of it. The lazy ones from this country need to look at what they are missing out on. all you have to do is have a dream or desire and put effort. foreigners are making it happen with little to nothing. i have watched this particular episode 1&2 twice now. Loving your stuff Peter.

I am interested to see what are you going to talk about in the Brazilian video. I am Brazilian as well as American. I used to live in Sunny Isles few years ago and have been to the Bay area in California for the past 6 years. I always thought that folks did not explore this neighborhoods in Miami much. Besides all the folks from Latin America and the islands of the Caribbean sea, there is much more to Miami. Such as the Russian and Brazilian women who pay to come to that area and have their babies delivered there. It is a very interesting landscaping. I have friends come there to party and drive sports cars in Miami and not knowing that if they drive one more street further, they could be robbed in the hoods of Miami. There is the glamorous and the impoverish hoods side to side there.

What he was saying about money and making it in America is so true, you have to start a business and keep going in order to get out of poverty or the middle class and so many Americans dont realize how easy it is until they meet people from europe who get taxed so heavily when they begin to make money. Its not easy to run a business of course but many people here have grown lazy and jaded then wonder why they’re in poverty when they dont do anything

The important thing to remember is - this man and probably his wife are very well educated. This education gives him the ability to think creatively and differently than someone who hasn't acquired a higher education. He keeps stressing - hard work ! There's a reason for that - hard work pays dividends . Great video.

I think when you compare and when you see what happens when you fail, you learn what not to do. It doesn't matter which country is it, people live and find ways to make money or else you can't pay your bills, the day you give up and decide you can't do it, your screwed.
