So you're going to tell me this girl works as janitor, goes to school, she was homeless, and she still does her homework I seriously don't have an excuse to not do my homework anymore
I can't imagine that ! What horrible parents leaving without their child on purpose and never seeing there child ever again! I wonder if she forgave them
to be honest... maybe they did it knowing someone with a better household would take her. and that would mean at least one of them will have a chance in life. we never know the real reason but... it could have been that as well.
Iceis Dblack but Rihanna was poor and grew up in poverty , Eminem overcame abuse and suffering form his drug addicted mother , Oprah was homeless while pregnant at I believe 14?. Many people in the industry don’t just get fame , sometimes it’s just earned
I cried while watching this video. I've realized how lazy I've become and how I've waisted my talents to learn and how difficult my life has been like hers.
Wasted*. Obviously, you haven't "waisted" your talents over learning, seems like you failed English class. You probably "waisted" your time during class to be an idiot. Also, your statement is very ironic because you say you are lazy and then you say you have studied a lot. To study, you need to use your energy to complete the homework. Another error in your comment is how it has a run-on sentence. "I've realised how lazy I've become and how I've wasted my talents to learn and how difficult my life has been like hers." You could correct your run-on sentence by saying, "I've realised how lazy I've become and how I've wasted my non-existent talents only to learn nothing from English class." It's most likely you didn't work hard in class because you couldn't learn how to spell "wasted". Also, you're going on RU-vid. If you were a hard worker, you probably wouldn't be watching someone else's achievements and rather, working hard as you have said you've done.
+rainyxday811 I love how 80% of your entire comment is just shitting on his grammar. You're probably the type of person who walks up to the teacher and scream-cries when someone makes a tiny joke.
Mr Chaos the thing is well off families who have a giant house and live in a nice neighbordhood. In order to be accepted you have to do something beyond others
The genetic capability to get all A's in AP classes is one thing and pretty uncommon, but the fact that she had the drive to work hard given her circumstances is remarkable.
Exactly genetics has very little to do with it... it is about discipline and focus. Someone could have Einstein's IQ but if they never pick up a book they will not make an A.
SoniB Xo My best friend is near genius. He has a 4.7 weighted GPA, but he is probably the least focused and disciplined AP student I know. He has ADHD and instead of paying attention in class, he either watches RU-vid or tries talking to me (I pay attention). He doesn't read books or textbooks, writes essays in 1-2 hours, and copies almost every homework assignment. The only reason why he isn't getting into the Ivy League is that he is Asian. You're using hard work as a reason why people have different grades while it actually intelligence. You can work hard and do well, that is how most students do well, but it is the students who are genetically the most intelligent who are going to Ivy League schools.
@@rockwall5329 No. That's not true at all...grades matter. If you get amazing grades then it DOES play into the kind of intelligence you hone. Only smart people would study for hours and do every homework assignment instead of dicking off on the computer BECAUSE they know grades matter and they care. "Natural intelligence" plays very little into ivy league admissions. The smartest people I've known are smart because they work hard, have amazing work ethic, and spend every minute of the day learning more.
I just found this video and couldn’t help but think of my middle and high school years living in a home with no electricity, running water, or heat. I am so thankful I was also able to rise above and graduated with my bachelors in 2015
And this is what I can't understand, USA gov are spending trillions of dollars on wars, weapons, F35 and other war games. While there are people like this girl who their life can totally change if they were given the value of one tomahawk missile.
John Johnnson I agree with what you say, but still I think there are other cheaper ways to repel the Russians without spending trillions of dollars. With this rate of military spending, we will have inside melt down before using this F35. Poverty and unemployment are getting higher.
John Johnnson BHAHAHHAHAHAHAH OMG im literally lmfao atm, good god u americans are so blinded by ur propoganda. do you REALLY believe that all your military is there for your "protection" do you? honestly? you say that putin wants to destroy america, how do you know that. these "people" you know.... are they government officials in the russian government. MY GOOOD GOD..... like seriously wtf.. america is in so much debt cos u feel the need to spend money on ur silly military... im not saying u dont need an army but your genuinely overdoing it... on top of that Russia isnt going to go and send tanks to america if u guys lacked such a big army... why would it do that? in this day and age, any countries which own nuclear warheads can prevent wars pretty much.... if you guys kept a couple of big nuclear warheads, and not much else in terms of infantry, sure u'll end up killing everyone on this planet, but thats reason enough to prevent countries attacking you, pretty much. controling multiple nuclear warheads should be insurance enough to prevent superpowers like russia wiping you guys off... buuuut you wont get wiped off. you can guarantee 100% the reason that america has so many problems is contributed to majorly by the military spending.... just think if children like this girl were given a good home. how different their life wuld be?...
CrownSA U guys should stop talking about politics and military matter, cuz what we know till now about those matters are just what they want to show us. Seriously, you guys always argue about who is right and who is wrong in politics, in wars, and sometimes, it's hard to figure out which opinion is actually right. So just try to take care of your ownselves, live your own lives, and what comes will come.
John Johnnson You clearly don't know anything about history. This is exactly why history SHOULD be learned and isn't just a 'useless' subject. If you knew anything about the events of the Cold War era, you'd know that such a threat doesn't exist anymore.. We've had to worry about the eastern bloc once, and it certainly won't be a threat to anyone again.
Ted 1 Wow. Anyone can see that she isn't drop dead gorgeous but be respectful. This video shows the hardships of her life and her being intelligent enough to escape it. I don't see you in her position being accepted to Harvard. Jealous much?
@Theo1 Okay she may not be beautiful or anything but at least she got into a college like Harvard, which is more than can be said of your stupid ass. Besides she's way more beautiful on the inside stop being so fucking superficial
I don't think I could have overcome her problems if I was in her situation. It amazes me that there are people who refuse to let life keep them down. I hope her life is filled with happiness from here on out. She deserves it
This young lady is so strong and hardworking. Instead of giving up she does everything in her power to turn her life over. She deserves everything in life. 💗
What a WINNER!!👑👑👑👑!!! I went through a horrible divorce and I thought my life was over and now I’m going back to school and setting things right. So proud of this lady and myself! We can choose OUR path! It CAN BE DONE! Just gotta KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️🤧🤧🤧😭😭😭👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
B I’ve lived in U.S my whole life. The U.S is a capitalism so basically there are the richest and poorest here depending on how you do. Many people in the U.S are very lazy in the U.S .
uwuCat - Yes, we Americans only believe in welfare for corporations and the rich. Never to make sure people have healthcare, housing, food, or education.
Im from sweden so it's the same priciple. Nothing is free but we have ''free'' education but sure we pay it of in taxes later, no matter if it's free or not everyone has a chance. I will happily pay high taxes for the rest of my life if that means every kid in my country has a chance to have good education.
Another amazing young woman! Bless her, I am so inspired by stories like this. The fact that she still does so well in school makes her deserve help and support. I look forward to one day reading her autobiography!
*2012: nah* *2013: not yet* *2014:nOPE* *2015: ya still no.* *2016: mabye a few more years.* *2017: mabye in 2 years* *2018: still nah.* *2019: yesss its time*
Attitude. She overcame her family drama and took care of herself, in such a brave way. Instead of following in her parent's dysfunction, she saw it as something NOT to do. She ran her survival and did WONDERFUL. Congratulations to such a fine person. And to those who helped her , thank you, you helped a person better themselves.
This is amazing and so touching. I am so touched not because of the difficult life she went through, but by her determination, humble, conscientious and hard-working attitudes, as well as the kindness from her teachers! God bless them!
Sometimes we take things for granted. And yet we still complain about how bad our lives are cuz we don't have the new iPhone or not allowed to leave. I learnt today that some people don't have the things we do...and yet they are much more thankful. I wish her a very happy and successful life she deserves and should get.
She and the community are inspirational and have taught me something. She deserves this with all her hard work and strong will. I wish her all the best!
I am tearing up watching this. Beautiful and strong girl. I hope she's achieved whatever she desires in life. And a very kind teacher and community to help her get there....what a beautiful story..
Lesson learned. Others have it harder than me. But again. Not everyone is the same. Some people are too damaged inside to have any once of motivation to keep moving forward. My life isn't perfect but I know I still have some motivation left in me to not give up.
Incredible. This is excellent motivation for doing well in school. Just - wow, there is no way that I can get away with excuses for not getting stuff done anymore.
I can appreciate a story like this every now and then. I'm glad there are good people that are willing to take action to help those who can use it most. To be honest though, there are many kids like her that don't get similar opportunities at all. It took me awhile to learn to be grateful for what I have.
This is appalling, that no one reacted when a minor lives without electricity and needs to do so much work in addition to her school-related responsibilities. For example, where I live, in Germany, this would not have been tolerated for so long. In Germany, no minor has to work to ensure a basic livelyhood or healthcare. And the German youth protection law would not have let her live under such conditions, she would have been rehomed as soon as this would have been noticed. This looks like neoliberalism trying to sell people that they shouldn't take even the most basic things for granted, which is bullshit. The state must provide for its citizens, especially for the vulnerable ones. She shouldn't have needed to go through all that.
exactly! this is a feel good story, we're supposed to be moved just like when we hear "10-year-old boy sells lemonade by the street for weeks to pay for his dad's insuline". So inspiring! So nice! Except for the fact that it isn't.
For additional information, there are youth homes (in Germany) for people like her. They get fed, have their own room (although often shared with another kid ) and shared bathroom and kitchen. All for "free" btw, as Germany is a social democracy, which is economically to the left of Bernie Sanders (he'd be centre-right here). Her parents would have lost the right to live with her by law.
This kid is amazing. This part about her parents leaving her is messed up but I love how she didn’t let her get her down. She has the most perseverance I’ve seen
I wish I was this independent, shes so determined and willing, she's gonna have a good life ahead of her with her mindset. Very kind and always giving back.
If you keep telling " yourself" that then that's what you'll be. You can also choose to look at her and feel inspired by her instead of insecure. She is no better than you are. The only difference is her actions and choices. Start taking actions and tell yourself if someone like this can do it than I definitely can! Every time it gets tough remember this girl and realize no one does anything praiseworthy by themselves. Go out ans make it happen :)
Isn’t it a beautiful thing when we all pull together to help someone far worse off than ourselves. Humanity is both wonderful and shocking. I hope this lady does amazing in her life.Hard work and sacrifice gave her the tools she needed
Simply Amazing!!!! See the miracle of simplicity , concentration and focus on your goals instead of weeping everyday on trivial issue. I always tell my kids only education is going to stay with you forever , no parents, no friends and no body else. She is a great jewel 💎
This is really powerful. When kids are able to turn a negative situation into a positive one. She is a genius, she figured out what she needed to do in order to be successful in life and she thrives to do it. Really inspiring
This is a Cherokee tradition that became part of the culture in NC and TN---the word for it is gadugi. We all pull together to help each other succeed.
Wouldn't it be nice to see the parents' reactions, about her being accepted into Harvard and how just about everyone else cared more for her than their sorry asses had provided.
