Treat Knuckles how he was treated in the Adventure days. Like an actual serious character who is at times gullible. Treat his role as guardian with a level of seriousness rather than making him out to be some dumb oaf whose obsessed with guarding a rock.

Every day that passes I'm more convinced that Sega has no idea what to do with the character it has and it's in the hands of the community to save them.

If there was one thing that Ken Penders did right when making the Sonic comic, it was fleshing out Knuckles in a way that makes him interesting and giving him a world sorta separate from Sonic.

As a knuckles fan, it feels so good to see someone with an audience talk about this. I just want a knuckles game thats open world on angel island, has a combat system similar to dog of war and a story fleshing out is clans history (also wanna see him finally get a super form). He has so much untapped potential going to waste on memes more dry than sandopolis.

Knuckles is my favorite character in the franchise. I've been hoping they would utilize him for something worthwhile for a long time, now. I don't think it will ever happen, but it would be a nice surprise.

I have always found it odd that knuckles, probably the most combat oriented character, is rarely given a combat heavy gameplay style.

Knux was my fav when I played Sonic Adventure 2: Battle with my friend when we were kids and has been from that point on. He's basically my only connection to this franchise I'm not sure why I'm subscribed to you and watch a bunch of your sonic content but you do a great job. It's fascinating as someone who has never touched sonic content outside of grinding SA2B until I knew every emerald piece location from memory.

Knuckles deserves better because he's my favorite Sonics Character!

I'd love for this to happen! Knuckles is an amazing character, and we really need more from him, and we need him to be fleshed out. I think a problem arises when he overshadows the main character of the series, though. As much as I would love these amazing things to happen, I don't think they will until Sonic finds his groove, in the games.

knuckles open world botw style... -roll down hills to get incredible speed -climb a mountain and glide across the entire map -find knuckle glove upgrades to launch your opponents -hyper transformation for end game bonus that allows you to fly around nah thats too good of an idea. ill throw that one out.

I think the real problem with the unleashed night stages is they were physically the same length as the day stages. With a character that moves like a tenth the speed. And had full stop beat em up sections every 20 feet. Also God dammit Nick now I want breath of the knuckles

I wonder what would happen if Boom! Knuckles ended up in the Pre-SGW Archie Sonic Universe? I’d imagine everyone familiar with Knuckles being so off-put by how different Boom! Knuckles is (From appearance to his lack of intelligence) that they have a hard time believing that he’s an alternate version of Knuckles. Edit: I also had some ideas for how I’d reinterpret some of Ken Penders’ echidna characters if Sega had owned them and they were put in Sonic Boom * I imagine Knuckles’ intelligence (or lack of) in the Boom universe would make Locke be ashamed of him while Lara-Le is much more forgiving of him. * Julie-Su could possibly have her relationship with Knuckles be more akin to Nicole and Richard from Gumball where Knuckles questions why Julie-Su is working with her sister if she doesn’t like it and making Julie-Su love the guy even in spite of Boom!Knuckles’ lack of smarts. * Geoffrey could be more critical of Sonic on a more professional level (Maybe to the point where he’s the only person to side with Sonic in the episode “Just a Guy”). * Maybe Lien-Da is simply a member of the Lightning Bolt Society who used to have Julie-Su as her lackey before Knuckles ended up causing Julie to bail on her.

100% agree with Boom Knuckles. He was absolutely hilarious and my favorite character, but it was really hard to watch at first because it felt like he got the Charmy treatment.

You're leagues more forgiving than I am in regards to Boom Knuckles. I know everyone would like to catch Penders in a dark alley somewhere after single handedly ending Archie Sonic, but I'll at least give him some credit of giving us an expanded universe that even the devs don't have the balls to cover.

Since this video is about missed opportunities I also want to add Knuckles for Smash Bros. onto that. An assist trophy was nice but making him playable would have been great.

If it's met with negative response, Sonic team (and Sega) drops it entirely and runs barely looking back.

For all the weirdness that popped up in Ken Penders' writing, I do admit that as a kid I was pretty invested in the Archie Knuckles comic line. Maybe it was because I was in the midst of discovering major world building-based fiction (e.g. reading Tolkien for the first time around those years), but I do look back and at least admire how much he put into those books, even if some of the creative decisions could be...odd at times, let's say. I look back on those comics and feel like the way it built the Floating Island mythos plus its "Tales of the Great War" B-stories were arguably among the top accomplishments of the Archie years, and stuff like that is missed.

I like how throughout the years all of Sonic’s rivals have been over simplified to fit the “meta” of the franchise. From Knuckles going to a gullible hero with good heart and intent to the “punch good, think bad” type. Shadow who was once just misunderstood and only led astray from the path of good as he thought it was the right thing to do since it was his dying friends last wish. Hell even Metal Sonic once had more character as he just wanted to prove that he was more than just a run of the mill copy and the “True Sonic” regardless of the destruction he caused, just to be downplayed to an advanced badnik that just happens to resemble Sonic. It’s a shame Sega chose to take this route when honestly they could have had a lot more story and development towards all the characters in the franchise. We could only hope one day by some miracle that this can change, but honestly I don’t know if even the seven chaos emeralds can reverse the damage that this company has done to their Mascot’s franchise.

We can be happy for knuckles, because he does what he loves, approving memes.
