I hardly write comments came across your video as I was considering moving to New Zealand, biggest highlight of your video which I enjoyed is how much DIY you take on, much respect I love that and you save some few bucks while you at it. Bubbly personality bonus, great individual.
Thanks for watching and also your kind comments on my video and DIY skills 😉❤️ Much appreciated! 😁 In all honesty, I’ve always been a handy person and just learnt to become more self-sufficient as the years went by in NZ. Plus- it’s way more affordable doing things yourself because, unfortunately the labour is tremendously expensive 😜 Where are you planning to move to in New Zealand?
I lived in Aus for 20 years, moved back home a few years ago and never looked back, they would have locked me up in Aus in covid time. We have challenges here but nothing we can't handle. 🇿🇦🙏🙏🙏
Only a SAn women can have such work ethics. The energy and th e commitment you put on whatever work you're doing is phenomenal. When you land in SAn soil, you should know you're welcome back. Wish your stay can become permanent.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! It was a lot of work but I knew I wasn’t alone and that I had a community of friends and family backing me up and helping me. Whilst living in NZ I keenly felt the need to be the best I could possibly be but also acknowledging that I’m not alone and others are ready and willing to help me. I couldn’t have lived in NZ for so long without that. I love being back in SA and may just stay permanently, only time will tell.
Thank you for sharing your story. Not everyone will agree with your choices and that’s ok. Ultimately, I made my decision because of that still small voice in my soul and I listened. Everybody will have something to say but you are the one who has to walk on the path set out for you. I appreciate that you watched this.
With all SA's problems, it is still the most beautiful country in the world.. The people are also wonderful... You have much to be proud of being a South African! In fact, I'm in the process of obtaining a PR and hope to retire there..
Thanks for watching. Yes, I couldn’t agree more! 😊 SA has so much to offer and I’m absolutely loving being back here. All the best with the impending retirement and getting your PR. Where in SA are you thinking of settling? Western Cape perhaps?
A real winner! The Eastern Cape is a very close second for me but I haven’t travelled the rest of SA as extensively yet so my preference may change. We shall see 😉
It is such a pleasure!! Thank you for watching! 🤗This country is a gem 💎 worth showing to the entire world. They need to see the beautiful things about it and that’s why I’m making these videos.
Thanks so much! What a beautiful comment and so appreciated. Yes - every day away from my Africa made me long for it even more. God bless you and keep you to ☺️
Hey sisters❤ Welcome back to our beautiful South Africa🇿🇦. Happy and a blessed stay. May our Lord JESUS CHRIST watch over you day and night.❤Ntombi JHB
Thank you so so much Ntombi! 🤗❤️ Your blessings and kindness are so appreciated! Keep watching to see how good the Lord is to me. He kept me safe right through my travels. Not one issue or scare! Praise Him! ❤️
Thank you for watching and joining me on this cray cray journey. ❤️ I’m also so chuffed that you dig my DIY skills and that it actually inspires you! I really appreciate that. When I started to DIY a few years ago I had no idea and now over time I’ve just learnt from my experiences and some very clever people around me.
Thank you so much for watching and for your beautiful and kind compliments! I really appreciate that and I also appreciate your warm welcome home. ❤️❤️
Lovely.. I hope this country becomes better the way it looks on your video.. For those of us who are here.. what can I say (politics aside).. we live by hope.
That is all we can do - live with hope. I see the country for what it is and my heart breaks for it’s people and land but it is what the people and land make it that also give me hope to.
Thanks so much for that warm welcome and I’m delighted that you are enjoying the content. If I had know you were living around the corner, I would’ve popped by for a tea and lekker chat ! 🥰😊 I can say to you now - welcome home! ❤️
Been in NZ for 23 years - seriously thinking about moving back to Western Cape. Just spent 5 weeks in the Cape and it was so amazing to be with my people. South African s are so resilient and respectful to each other the vibe was outstanding. I don’t say this lightly but CT and the Western Cape is in good shape even better than the late 90s. Obviously you need to be alert but I didn’t feel threatened or anxious at all.
I lived in NZ during 1998 & 1999, in Auckland (Mt Eden, Browns Bay & Albany), but came back in time for the Millenium...it was a confusing time, just before the Internet really took off, we still posted CV's for job applications advertised in newspapers. We travelled from the Northern point to the Southern Alps incl. Milford Sound...beautiful. Also lived in UK (Portsmouth) 2006 and again came back to SA...I have very little income / pension now, but hey we are World Champs, my children have grown up on the Cape West Coast & the world will be their oyster soon!!! ❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🏉🏆 (PS: Love your video, brings back the same emotions from the Land of the Long Cloud & good ole RSA né as I went to High School in Pretoria!!!)
Thank you for sharing your interesting life journey, I appreciate hearing that. Yes, things are tough but when I hear that your attitude is good and right - it is refreshing. It is South Africans like you who give me and many others hope. Go the Bokke!
Welcome back home, nothing beats SA. Loadshedding and the best shopping experience. As long as the GWM made it past Bloem ( Happiness ). You must video call the dog & cat one of these days.
Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I love shopping in the dark here. It adds a sense of excitement 😋 my GiGi (GWM) made it to Jbay and further. Check out episodes 2,3,4 ☺️ that’s a good idea about my 🐈 & 🐕!
Loved this video, mainly because you are very entertaining, you have a warm, loving, joyous spirit, the Holy Spirit living in you and outwardly displayed. Love your mom and aunt too. I can see you are amazing people ❤
Thanks for watching and commenting Etienne! 😀 I appreciate that you’ve shared your journey with me and have decided to go back to New Zealand. I’m very interested. Are you going back for work/ job reasons or have some family there?
@@SeeSalGo Hi, we are actually going to China for a while. Met my wife in Auckland while I staid in NZ. Still have a lot of friends in NZ so will go back at a later stage (maybe when Im on pension 😂). As long as you have property in NZ you should be sweet when you return.
How wonderful to have met your wife in Auckland while in NZ and now you’re off to China for a stint. Nice! 👍🏻☺️ I totally agree, if you have a home in NZ (which you’ve slogged long and hard to get) don’t let it go. I’m incredibly grateful that I still have my house there as well as my incredible friends. NZ is my other ‘home’ after all.
Danie Putter!! 😃😃 My old bud from TUKS! Amazing to reconnect! Sho! It’s so good to ‘see’ you again. Thanks for subscribing to this cray cray journey of mine. Are you on Facebook? My page is See Sal Go. Would love to catch up!
As Aussies we lived in South Africa and Mozambique for a bit over 3 years your drive brought back plenty of memories. Sad to see the those intersections with the robots not working it reminded me of when we lived in Maputo and the absolute chaos of trying to get through a 4 way intersections when the power was off just had to close your eyes and go.. South Africa was only just beginning to experience power shedding when we left in 2019 after covid arrived. In Pretoria we visited the Voortrekker Monument it is an amazing building I must have driven around that mountain 4 times before I could actually find the road to get up to it ;) We absolutely loved our time in South Africa but it doesnt mtter how much you enjoy being somewhere there is always that pull that makes you want to return to your home.We tow a 20ft caravan with a Jeep around Australia nowadays and we love road tripping , I dont remember seeing too many RVs on the road over there not caravans anyhow. Happy travels and stay safe....
Thank you for watching my video and also sharing your journey with me. I really appreciate that. I hear you - home is home. Our hearts always lead us back to our places of familiarity and deep connection. South Africa is chaotic, beautiful, vibrant and tragic all in one go but that is also life and I want to live it to the full and not just be comfortable somewhere, not growing and slowly fading out. I think you understand that especially with your current adventures. Love it! 🤗❤️
@@SeeSalGo thankyou for you well wishes we really enjoyed our time in that part of the world and I can the see the attraction that it would have for both South Africans and tourists. It some ways it is a lot like Australia in others it is completely different one thing I did like was that people still have the freedom to think for themselves. Here in Australia I genuinely believe we have rooms full of publicly funded bureaucrats who suit around coming up with new regulations to impose on people. Enjoy your time back in the rainbow nation.
Yes, you're right about it being like Aus in some ways and in others not but you do have a point about freedom of thought. I felt that a lot in NZ and it really got me down but yet, it works for them. Each to their own I guess.
Welcome home sweet sister this is where you belong. When your country calls you have answered that call together we gonna change this for the better I promise you that nothing remains the same forever that change is you and me and all of us 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦💖🌈🌈☀️
Thank you so much for your warm welcome home! 🥰 What a special message and so heartfelt. ❤️ it’s beautiful to be back here. Loving it. Thanks for watching 😁
I couldn’t agree more! Even with all its challenges - I love this country and it’s people! 🇿🇦 Thanks so much for your beautiful comment and for watching ❤️
Hiiiiiiya Sal ! Came across this vid and your channel while digitally visiting gorgeous SA. Will be out for my moms 80th later this year and looking forward to being "home" for a bit. Great to see you happy and luvvin the vids - rock on ! Caron - from your Wilton crew. Can't believe Rosie our pup now 5 years old !!! A long time since the gatherings at Izzard park and the good old bowling club steaks 😅❤
Oh my goodness Caron!! Hello 👋🏻 I can’t believe my eyes! How fantastic that you’ve found my humble travel videos all the way over in NZ! 😄 SA is just fantastic and I have loved the travels, people and history that I have learnt on each trip. Enjoy the trip back ‘home’ and all my love & congrats for your mom’s 80th! 🎉 Can’t even believe that Rosie is already 5 years old! Those Wilton days were my utmost favourite time in Welly. Miss them (especially the steaks 😉) ❤️
A warm welcome to you over there in Boechout Belgium! Thank you so much! Great to have you onboard. I know you mama! She is a real winner and a gem of a person. :)
Welcome home🎉. SA we are a tough resilient still full of good people hoping for a better SA. Community spirit is strong here and its NGO's, charities & amazing businesses keeping SA going!!
Thanks so much for watching and the beautiful welcome home 🥰 You’re totally right and I couldn’t have said it better! Keep up the positivity, courage and determination. It is people like you who make and keep South Africa great!
I love that attitude Bernard from Kokstad ! 😀😀 Thank you so much and thanks for watching! Wherever I go, I know Christ goes ahead of me and with me, otherwise, I don’t think I would go anywhere because of fear and insecurity. He leads me on and even though, sometimes it’s uncomfortable and painful - I just follow.
You are such a vibe! someone should consider hiring you for a travel show. I have just subscribed to your channel and you are so full of life! I would seriously slap your face on a brand of coffee for sales 😄
🤣 Love it! Thanks for that gorgeous compliment 💕 I really appreciate your sub! Yay! Funny that you mention slapping my face on a packet of coffee because I’m wanting to release my own branded coffee in the near future! You’re onto something for sure! 💰😉
@@SeeSalGo you welcome :) let me know if you have certain questions when you are ready to launch. I am a research analyst by profession. I could help with my 2 cents here and there lol.
I definitely will! Wow! Thank you for the kind offer to help. I am currently sorting out some details concerning a reliable supplier and then will go from there. Pop me an email sometime saltandraycreative@gmail.com and I'll be in touch. I would greatly appreciate your 2 cents ;-)
If you have time driving up from Cape town to Windhoek, we will accommodate you and make it worth your while visiting Namibia and meet its friendly people
I love Jacarandas trees! Unfortunately, however, they are invader trees and take a lot of the natural water from Pretoria’s water table BUT they are the reason for some of Pretoria’s allure 😊
How is it like to be back home in South Africa? I have friends who moved to Aotearoa in 2002 when I was back in high school. So If you compare both countries what would you say are the stand out features? I know a lot of ex-pats badmouth SA, sometimes rightfully so. But considering our "colourful history" (Colonialism, Apartheid, Post 1994 Progress and Challenges) how would you compare both countries? Taking into consideration that Aotearoa is also a post colonial settler state are the politics between Moari and everyone else similar to home?
Thanks for watching and also commenting. Ok so, first things first, every country has got its good and bad. NZ is pretty fabulous but so is South Africa. The grass is only green where you water it. You take yourself with you so wherever you find yourself, it's up to you to find the best in that place.
Thanks for watching. Each to their own. I respect that. We all need to do things at different seasons in our lives and sometimes that means giving it all up to live in another country like South Africa. Continue to follow my journey and see what I experience in SA. I have been pleasantly surprised at how amazing it has been so far.
I know of quite a few who tried to find a "SA" in NZ and were disappointed. Others were used to the privileges afforded to them here based on previous racial legislation. Most who never return are more willing to adapt, have a work ethic often not found in certain career areas there and love the safety aspect.
@@jonye7511 Thanks for watching and commenting. The trick about living in a country not your own is to assimilate with the people of that respective country as best as you can without losing who you are. It is the best part about travelling and discovering new places, spaces and cultures. You can’t take a whole country with you but you can use the best parts of your country to add to the country you find yourself in.
It's like living in a parallel universe. I'm back in South Africa for 2 years so that my son is able to finish high school here. He missed sport, nature and the general 'gees' of SA schools, which cannot be found in the Netherlands. I'm fortunate to be able to work remote in the Midlands. It is still for me the most beautiful country and people - I just don't like the politicians!
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is wonderful that you’re able to work remotely and give your son the chance to grow up here, to enjoy and experience all South Africa is and has to offer. Ja nee, the politicians … 😜
I know right!? 🤣 It’s so weird. I guess I was there for so long that my accent just morphed slightly. Now, I’ve got a lekker SAFA accent again ☀️👍🏻 Thanks for watching!
The urge was strong I tell you 🤣 but I was surrounded by incredible friends who just stepped in and helped me selflessly at every turn. I could not have done all of that work without the support and love of my friends, physically, spiritually or emotionally.
He really did! 🙏🏻❤️ I had to learn early that I couldn’t do it all alone and that He has given me people to love and help me. It’s hard when you’re proud to get help from others but I tell you, it made all the difference. Thank you sooo much for your warm welcome home. It means a lot to me 🥰
We moved back to South Africa from Australia. 6 years ago. South Africa is a mess but Australia is a mess too. The danger is that they don't realize it.
