Susanna Grant tells how Timpson recruited her in prison to be a store manager
With a five-year prison sentence for armed robbery, Susanna Grant thought few companies would consider taking her on. But shoe repairers Timpson interviewed her as part of a prison recruitment project and made her a store manager. She thinks other companies could do the same.

When I worked for them, my manager was an ex-convict. Last I knew she was an Area Development Manager (what they call an assistant area manager).

I love Timpson as I am also a mobile manager. been over 2.5 years now and I am exprisoner myself. I have work with them 11 months while still in open prison. they are great till this day. I am still on probation and I am happy with what they have thought me.

I've just seen a few articles that say she was dismissed for gross misconduct because she called her colleague the N-word and threw a drink on a colleague at a Christmas party in 2019. She raised an unfair dismissal claim against Timpsons afterwards but it was dismissed.

Sad people that look for a negative in all situations. Would it be better if she turned to drugs carried out multiple crimes and lived a life in and out of prison!! You can then all live happily in the knowledge that you were right and your negative view of the world is reinforced and another generation are condemned.

I was almost assaulted in one of the branches in Quarry Street Hamilton, by a member of staff. Which reloops in my head daily. Can still see his horrible clenched teeth & anger in his face as he lunged at me. Luckily a consultant Neurologist diagnosed Nocturnal flashbacks at a sleep clinic & Mri imaging tests. . Staff member David tried to keep me quiet about it by offering free photographs. Narcassistic Ex con manipulation tactics. Absolutely Disgusting. Will never be back.

good idea! teach former armed robber how to make duplicate of your house key.

So, you're implying, after hearing her testimony about realizing what a mistake she'd made(regret) and her desire to live in such a way as to provide for her children(responsibility) and her appreciation for Timson helping her(loyalty), you took the intellectual low road to assume she will use your house key to rob you? What a great parent you would make. Apparently, you don't listen, nor process information effectively. What a pitiful creature you are.

@@xlsyor the point is, virtually no employer will employ a convict. What does that tell you? You still think you're a smart arse?
@xlsyor

@@RU-vidSupportTeams virtually no employer? A quick search on the internet reveals programs that train ex-convicts and apparently have passable success getting them employed. There appears to be a growing number of businesses willing to employ folks with a past, as well. Unlike you, I've emailed some of these companies(One of the first businesses I spoke with was Timson, by the way, and was rather impressed by their approach) to inquire about their training and assimilation protocols in an effort to be better informed so I don't elect knuckleheads who only imagine worst-case scenarios. I also keep in touch with felons I've met, to offer advice , support and ideas. And yes, I am a smartass. Go here, for starters.. Felony Franks - Food So Good It's Criminal felonyfranks.com

One in four adult UK males have committed a criminal offence. Good job working out who you can and can’t trust when you’re in the shops or on the street!

It's when a stranger of the street. Walks into a timpson store and tells a little white lie to staff member about someone. Staff member decides to take matters into his own hands by waiting for this individual, and when they enter the store as a customer the employee tries to assault them.

I was almost attacked by staff member mick a few years ago at the Hamilton branch. Apparently a member of the public told him something, which he believed,so he took it upon himself to try and assault me. Now I was sorry to hear he passed away. But he almost attacked me and another staff member just managed to restrain him, by coming into my personal space using verbaly abusive threatening words and behaviour, triggering my trauma as a returning paying customer. This resulted in an admission to outpatients for trauma support. They need to watch who they are employing. I now avoid as it's now a trigger.

No... getting a job after leaving prison and stopping the criminal life is what has paid this lady. It’s not like we (I presume you are also not a convict, as Im not ) can’t get a job at timpsons if we want to, or almost any other company.

the cynical side of me thinks that ex prisoners will probably be desperate enough to accept minimum wage whereas your average joe at the employment centre will be looking for at least a living wage instead - it a nice narrative but i didnt see any mention of how much she is being paid
