I don’t do repowers, is not guaranteed they’ll make it up, dispatchers get consistent money every week we don’t, so if is convenient for me money wise I do it otherwise I keep my load, this is a business and they see us as tools for profit at the end of the day! Don’t feel bad for looking out for your money! bills don’t wait for dispatch decides to get us good loads for the week to be paid.
I understand your point. And I totally agree that in most cases with companies, we’re nothing but a number. But I do have a good working relationship with my FM so I trust that things will work out. I am yet to be disappointed. If that changes, then I’ll be more weary about what I accept. I’m no stranger to declining loads if they don’t workout for me… When it comes to bills. You shouldn’t rely on current week to pay current week bills. Like you said. This is a business. Expenses should be covered ahead of time.
Yeah, If you have a Freightliner they only know how to install it at Springfield. Gotta schedule an appointment with the detail shop ahead of time. I picked up a used one and it was $418.80 installed. I think new ones are in the $700s
My thinking is that FM thought you wouldn't be able to make it is because he probably notices you go at 57mph often. I know the company wants you to run at those speeds or even under, but with limited government clock, it kills your available miles per day.
That is a possibility. I was running 65 for this one because i had limited hours but it was still tight. When it comes to running 57. I’m already used to it but I don’t necessarily like it. It doesn’t allow me to maximize my miles per shift, cuts into my downtime when I could arrive places earlier and relax, and there is no clear dollar amount for the savings. Just the change in mpg average. But when it comes to the current loads in which most places go strictly by appointment time. I struggle to find the reason to push it. If it is a drop and hook or I can deliver early, for sure. But even then you might end up sitting after😪. When the load consistency comes back I’ll probably go back to top speed nonstop 😉
