Hi Bob. A journey to the 70s when men used to wear sideburns and huge collars on their shirts. 😃 I bought a not very good copy of this record years ago, mostly by nostalgic reasons, and also the Bee Gees, of course. Sentimental reasons are usually not very wise, and this proves to be true in my case, my copy was reissued by Back To Black, and the sound is not very good. Your copy sounds much cleaner than mine.

Hello Rui. I posted this for the music and the nostalgia rather than the sound quality, so if your Back To Black copy is worse than my second-hand copy then it must be rather poor! I don't think it can be that good a recording to start with! But it's good fun to listen to and have a snapshot of a time long past ;o)

So Bob, between a PTP Lenco and this Garrard, which one do you prefer ?

If I could have kept the PTP while still getting the 301 I would have done, but I'm really happy with the 301 - the retro looks, smooth operation, and the sound of course are really super. Having said that the PTP gives the 301 a great run for its money at a cheaper price than the CTC 301/SMD plinth combo. But I wouldn't swap back to the PTP having used the 301 for a while now.

Are you running the 301 directly from the wall supply or are you using some kind of power conditioner?

I'm really underwhelmed by the Hana EL cartridge. It seriously lacks bass and treble extension, dynamics, and separation. Thank you for buying and testing one though! You've served music lovers by destroying the marketing hype with its actual sound.

Hola, de ninguna manera el sonido plano de este disco proviene del cartucho . Tengo 3 estampados diferentes de este álbum, la edición uruguaya, la edicón original americana y otra española. La española es la que suena más completa pero de todos modos sigue siendo aburrida. El problema proviene de la masterización .La versión digital suena prácticamente igual.

@@ROBERTODILANDRO Ian Lee (HiViNyws channel) tested the Hana EL with a wide variety of music, and his playback consistently revealed the same deficiencies. Sigo a Ian Lee y conozco sus revisiones. Creo que el no es muy objetivo , habla demasiado.....siempre da como ganadores a la serie de cartuchos MP , sea el modelo que sea.En casi todas sus revisiones! Esto condiciona al público .Muchas veces no estoy de acuerdo con sus valoraciones ya que "escuchar" es un concepto personal y muy subjetivo. Prefiero oír con mis orejas y sacar mis propias conclusiones y no dejarme influenciar por opiniones de terceros , por más exhaustivas y profesionales que parezcan. No poseo un cartucho Hana y es obvio que los hay mejores ,pero he escuchado las publicaciones de Bob con diferentes discos y configuraciones y el sonido no es decepcionante en absoluto.
