There are a number of African languages that rely heavily on clicks... like Xhosa and Zulu for example. Xhosa uses C Q and X to denote where in the mouth the click is formed, front middle or back.
I saw a documentary about this tribe and their unique clicking language several years ago glad that still speak it today and great to see the villagers reaction to it thank you.👋💓:)
Ruby and Babu again❤️ In 1980s watched 2 movies Beautiful people and Last of the wild Both are shot in Africa And the movie covered almost all the tribes in Africa
BTW, I'm from South Africa and I believe click sound the way they do it evolved into the language because of where they are. The yare hunter gathers and that particular click sound travel very far over the savannah plains and will also echo back because of the mountains. So they could split up for hunting and keep in communication without scaring the animals. The click is short and a weird frequency and sound like nature and not a construct that would scare off animals.
A very niche topic choice, but surprisingly interesting. Seems that the two enjoyed the history part quite well. Would like to see more reactions to history videos. Maybe The Entire History of the Stone Age in 10 Minutes from the channel NORTH 2?
I agree with you 😊 I think they would love the "click song" by Miriam Makeba because they always love music, and this is such a great song. I believe it's often sung at weddings to bring good luck.
The things in todays world are great but let’s not forget our inherent I pray that the younger generations don’t forget the inherent with the things in this world may these generations not be forgotten also🙏
thank you for this! my thoughts: (the narrator in that video mispronounced some stuff but oh well) this is about the ones in south africa (home) but they’re all over southern & southwestern africa, mostly the Kalahari desert, Namibia, Botswana and Angola but also south africa, lesotho (but not eSwatini), Zambia, Zimbabwe clicks are just part of the alphabet, it’s not just a sound sadly south africa isn’t very democratic or fair… it’s rather a family of languages than a dialect “whatever changes happen, they are for good” oh honey no… what’s done to trillions of fellow animals yearly isn’t good, global warming isn’t good, mass extinctions aren’t good, planetary pollution and destruction isn’t good, more fires, floods, etc isn’t good… but yes too many people need to change for the better so the world changes for the better not worse thanks and have a good week!
Example? Which race in particular? Coz plenty of theories exist on origins of human species and evolution does not explain why all Apes, Gorillas, Orangutans, Monkeys have not yet evolved into humans yet, etc.
Heh. I know about this, so I might as well be boring... When I was around 13 (English) I learned the "click" from a friend. We'd do it really loud. If one of us was in the street and the other in his house, we could call each other with it. I've not lost any teeth, but they aren't needed, because the sound is generated by your tongue sucking tight on to hard palate, then pulling off. The consonant click is the same, but generated with less and varying pressure. Babu was making his click by lightly sucking his tongue to the hard palate, but then letting his tongue slide back, so the click is generated by the tongue hitting the bottom of the mouth, more like a "clop". My loud consonant click (or "tak") is generated like a sucker being pulled off a wall - from the hard palate. When it's pitch black in the countryside, a loud one can give you an idea structure in front of you - low grade sonar. 🥱😴
