I really love the tower. It's unbelievable that it was destroyed to make way for that hideous monstrosity.

I wish the Singer Building were still around. It had a beautiful lobby. 💗the chandelier in the drawing room of the county estate. I really like the cottages on the property. Thanks Ken.

What happened to the astonishing interior of the tower? Was it just thrown into a landfill dump? Was some of it recycled elsewhere? So much marlble, carved stone and metal work lost?

often wonder what % of Earth's best/hardest/oldest/most valuable trees ended up in mansions/castles /palaces and most ultimately in landfills

It’s really hard to say what was a favorite. You had Bourne the business man and then the house builder if you will. Anything he built outside of the Singer Tower was astounding. Maybe a little overdone aesthetically when it came to the property with the 80’ green house. The home with the green took on a feel like that of Montpelier after the DuPonts got a hold of it. Thankfully it’s been tastefully restored to the intent of the Madison family. Love your channel Ken! All the best to you & yours.

ITS SO DISHEARTENING THAT PEOPLE DO NOT APPRECIATE AND DESTROY BUILDINGS LIKE THE SINGER TOWER.

Clark really wasn't a co-founder of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Edward Clark was Isaac Singer's lawyer (and God knows he needed one). Singer gave him lots of stock (for both business advise and help with his huge problems with the women in his life: two literally fought each other in public and at one point there was an issue of bigamy) because he was always short of money. [Please see:The Clarks of Cooperstown by Nicholas Weber.] The right hand photo @2:45 is the construction of the Woolworth Building (the Singer Building is actually in the background). I'm torn between the tower and the Long Island estate as my favorite.

All three structures were beautiful, and each distinctive with its own style. Very sorry the Tower was lost for a non-descript skyscraper.

Like Penn Station, I always thought the demolition of the Sears Tower was a shame - especially considering the bland, hideous cube that replaced it. At least those buildings are so out of style, they're being deconstructed, too.

THAT'S NOT THE SEARS TOWER, WHICH IS IN CHICAGO AND BUILT IN THE EARLY 1970S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S THE SINGER BUILDING, THERE IN LOWER MANHATTAN, COMPLETED IN 1908!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the tower. So sad that they tore it down. All that beautiful work in that building only to be torn down and that ugly building put up, with no character.

One of the finest skyscrapers ever built and certainly the finest ever torn down... Ironic that Liberty Plaza almost suffered a similar fate, albeit entirely unloved with its generic minimalist design that looks vaguely like a Mies Van Der Rohe but is MOST certainly NOT a Mies Van Der Rohe...

The Tower was quite distinctive. Seems a shame to replace it with a box. The other two buildings are quite nice.

Prefer the skyscraper. Unique . Let's hope its replacement gets replaced. 😊. I love Ernest Flaggs small houses, but his larger grander domestic works don't appeal to me.
