Before she led UConn to three national championships and the Phoenix Mercury to three WNBA championships, Diana Taurasi was just a kid from Chino, California. We’re all built by where we come from and where we’re headed. This is her story.

I'm from Chino and I'm glad to see Diana will always hold Chino in her heart..... I went to school with Diana in Jr high.... Ramona Jr high school in Chino CA we had P. E. Together same period same teacher Mr Edge.... I see Dania and I just think of Chino pride.... My wife doesn't believe me that I went to school with her.... Right on Diana may God bless you....

I grew up in Chino so I’m just a kid from Chino as well LOL. But when I was a baller, WNBA was not in existence. When my nephew told me about Diana Taurasi, I went on RU-vid to check it out and my eyes just popped out! Diana has got some awesome moves and understands the game. Brought me back to when I was a guard playing up against some big tall boys back in the day. How I wish they had a professional woman’s basketball league back then. I think Diana would would make an awesome mentor! Paige Buecher Is the current star now but no offense. She doesn’t have the female swagger and complete skills that Diana has but she’s learning. Hey Di Anna… Next time you and your wifey and baby drive to Chino, give me a holler. I’d love to swap some stories with you! Best wishes always.

Diana is amazing. I regret to this day never getting a photo with her. I met her at one of her practices at UConn. I was an assistant coach with Smith College at that time, must be over 16 years ago. I remember Gino saying to Diana that we were a school she would never make it at. LOL so funny. I wish her continued success. Still would have love the pic, haha.

I really enjoyed this video. Hopefully The Player's Tribune will do more videos like this for more, if not all, WNBA players. It would also be good if the WNBA used its RU-vid page to produce videos like this for all its WNBA stars. Although I think the problems for the WNBA are bigger than just marketing, players like Elena Delle Donne might be right when the say stories about the players and their families will get people more interested in the WNBA.

Why is it that fans act like no one could've been better than a player they watched play live? Ask Diana Taurasi about CYNTHIA COOPER. Cooper came into the inaugural WNBA season on Sheryl Swoopes team and became the league's number one star... Not Swoopes, not Lobo, but a player unknown in her own country. It's not all about trophies, people. Watch the film if you don't understand.
