Keith such a great recognizable style. Met him once, a life too short. Glad Charles profiled him.

Sadly he got caught up in the aids epidemic of the 80s, and it took him.

I met Keith in Central Park during the mid 80’s. He was handing out anti war posters he had printed himself . He gave me one. I told him how much I enjoyed his graffiti work. We chatted for a few minutes and then I left. I wish i still had the poster. BTW,…the photographer at 2:40 is Georgio Gorgoni. I also knew him from working in the biz.

LOVE Keith Haring. Such a tragedy he passed away so young along with Basquiat.

One died of a heroin overdose, the other aids complications. Sad.

@@joeybaseball7352 From what I have read, Haring had HIV, but didn't have AIDs. And didn't die from AIDS: he died from taking an experimental medication that ended up killing a lot of folks who tried it. He would have EVENTUALY died of AIDS, though. This is at least my understanding. He was terrified to go through the AIDS process, so he took DDL, which ended up being lethal to some people who were trying it at the time. Died soon after starting it. I could be wrong, though? This is my understanding.

Haring brought optimistic images to a world that needed to smile. That's a notable legacy. Keith Allen Haring (May 4, 1958 - February 16, 1990)

@@ZarifaMEl-lf3zr Keith Haring died of complications of HIV. That was before antiviral treatments came along and made a big difference in the number of fatalities.

His work is instantly recognizable, with its thick lines and warm and vibrant colors. A true artist in his own right! Still loving you after all these years, Keith.

I used to see his drawings and thought they belonged there sanctioned by the MTA.

That's dope. How long before you made the connections that they were made by a world renowned artist? There was no internet back then to easily connect the dots. Keith was a real person. Unlike Banksy, who is fake, manufactured as a money laundering sceme.

I saw Keith working on the slate tiles on the sidewalk on the 42nd Street side of the main branch of the New York Public Library once many years ago. He did move fast.
