A number of years ago, I went to an exhibit of Beatles artifacts and saw "the" album. It was like an out of body experience.

@zackwoodd4606 HI. It was the Magical History Tour exhibit around 2017. I have many photos. The album was safely protected behind a see through case in very good condition. It was eerie.

There were major current events taking place at that time, yet John Lennon's death overshadowed those events. Speaks to how high JL was regarded. I don't interpret unhappiness. Wish he had his bodyguards. 😒😔❤

Yoko should have given John a funeral but that was her decision. It's sad that she cancelled John's security guards. What a bad decision. They would have picked up on Chapman hanging around for three days. I guess John felt like he could trust everyone in New York because they didn't chase him like they did in Britain. So sad !

I shared my personal feeling about this, it's rather metaphor or, if more precisely, an allegory that came to my head when I heard that report... which frankly to say I already forgot about. The car usually would drive straight in the archway where a door to the elevator was a foot away which would take them to their apt. Apparently on this evening the limo parked on the street and Lennon never saw it coming although chapman yelled “mr Lennon” and john started to turn as the shooting began. He was a Christian and John made a joke about The Beatles being bigger than Jesus. Any Brit would get it was just a gag about how crazy the fame was but Americans are Jesus crazy and so it was like insulting Muhammed today. A Christian extremist shot him for Jesus.

@@Jabberstax - I remember this happening and at the time Chapman made it clear it was because of what John had said about Jesus years earlier and then John's songs like God and even Imagine. Chapman was angry that he was a Christian and a failure and John was a huge success despite not being a Christian. Everyone at the time knew this and Chapman said it. Over the years Christians have tried to create a new narrative. This is very common. When I was young they would say that Htler's movement was atheist when in reality it was a Christian nationalist movement. When you read his speeches he said it was a Christian movement in every single speech and attacked Jews from a Christian perspective. Yet despite this most people believed it was atheist.

Nah, just an angry religious nut. By 1980 Lennon was not important to the government. I lived through hit. They cared when he was anti-Veitnam and protesting but he hadn't done that it years. He was living quietly with no political statements.
