On Jan. 1, 1975, Nixon administration officials John Mitchell, John Ehrlichman, H.R. Haldeman and Robert Mardian were found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and perjury in the Watergate cover-up trial. In this CBS News Special Report “The Watergate Verdict,” those convicted provide their statements on the ruling. CBS News also reviewed key moments from the trial. Most got only 2 years in prison! A few for five. None served their full sentences! Nixon was pardoned! This is why we are here now! I knew that then…I was 12!

G Gordon Liddy kept his mouth shut and served his entire sentence. Nixon loved him for his loyalty.
