I have been binge watching all of your videos. You are so amazing. I love your dyed yarns! You are really talented. I am a crocheter but have always wanted to knit. Have tried learning once and quit. I’m 57 and feel like I’m going to give it another try. I’m going to take it slow. I have a few disabilities but have never let that stop me. I’m going to just learn casting on today. I checked out your Etsy store and I will be purchasing some yarn. Thanks for making these dyeing yarn videos. I love to watch them.
I'm so happy that you are enjoying my videos. It means so much to receive such nice comments. It's never to late to learn. Just remember that all knitting stitches are variations of only 2 stitches, knit and purl. So once you can do those your golden. I found the hardest part was getting comfortable holding the the needles. Once that awkward stage is over knitting becomes addictive and relaxing. Take your time and enjoy the learning process.
that first blue tone...wasn't sure if it was blue or gray...but it reminded me there is a yarn of grey and violet I want to make socks with (that I need to buy before it runs out), and I may use it as inspiration...I love silk or cashmere in yarns.

Fascinating. I've only dyed silk fabric (batik) years ago...never worked with silk yarn. Your reason for wanting to dye your own yarns resonates with me. Yay for you AND your husband!

Since I am running a business there are certain things I keep confidential such as my yarn sources but I would definitely like to share some of the books I've found helpful not just for dyeing but for designing knitwear (I have many). Eventually I will do a tour of my workspace.

I'm glad you're enjoying my content. I don't share my supplier info but you can find retailers such as knit pics who have a wide selection of bare yarns for dyeing and they may have silk of silk blend yarns.
It's a steam or proofing oven. You can get them at restaurant supply stores. The brand doesn't matter so much, they all work the same. I traveled to a the supplier that was relatively close to me and just chose from what they had in stock within my budget. It's a big item that costs a lot to ship but I have a truck and trailer so I could pick it up.
